Youth players - how are you doing?

I have seven players, three are old youths, four are current youths.

One of my old youths is doing very well, as he's remained at the club. He needs a ball more on speed, stamina, play intell and tackling to stand a chance of being a regular, that'd be in about a season when he's 20, and I could sell my Polish player and get some money back. He used to be a regular when my team wasn't so strong, but he lost his place last season, now he's close to winning it back ... ideally he'd get a couple more balls in speed and stamina though.

Another ex-youth is a forward, he has six on shooting and still improving, same as a current youth. Hopefully then can get 8/9/10 and become great players in the future.

The other ex-youth isn't bad, he's gonna need a lot of work to become good though, part of the reason why I bought a better utility player as backup.

My other three current youths suck, two are terrible, another I've trained up to five in tackling and hopefully more soon, and I can sell him off like most of the other youths I've had (five tackling, gone for £60-80k). The other two I'll discard.

So I have two I'll discard, one / two I'll sell, and three / four I'll keep, a possible defender and two forwards could make it into the first team, maybe a midfielder too. It's taken a while and it'll take even longer, but I may be able to get some players good enough for the first team at last, and not forced to play them because I have to, but because I want to.

I have one good enough to sell for about 100k (6 balls tackling) or keep as backup for first team.

The rest I'll either discard or sell for small amounts.

Youths are a real waste of time, but you never know... one of my cast offs might be useful for a lower division team.

How do some people get good youths? All the youths I have ever gotten have never had more than 2 or 3 balls in any category.

Is it just luck or do the better youths go to the higher ranked teams?

Just luck. I've never got any good youths. That 6 ball tackler is the best youth I've ever had and he started off with 2 balls in tackling.

el patron, all my youths were crap when I got them. But I was lucky that the forwards for example trained up fairly well and haven't maxed out in shooting yet.

One forward started with three in shooting, the other had four. Also the defender I will sell had four, I think the defender who could get into my first team started with three.

Youths only seem good enough for selling for a decent amount unless you're prepared to keep them for a few seasons and train them. The defender I've had since he was about 17, he's 19 now and hopefully in a season or two at the most, he should be good enough for me to have confidence to play him instead of my other English defender at least.

Got 16 of the little buggers. And I'm only going to keep the one youth over till next season because he's 16, everyone else is 17. So mass player exodus in the season break...

They've improved pretty well so far over the season. Current stats:

Average balls/youth: 17.44
Total value: 712833 GBP

So if I can sell each of them for face value... I'd say that running 16 youths was most definitely worth it.

I've got 5 youths currently. Most of them still only have a few balls in each category so they still need quite a lot more training to reach it into my starting eleven.

well i have had my youth set up for 3 seasons i think now and it has just started making me money i think ive sold a few youths a few average a few crap and a few i have just let them go

i have to more youths which have come up through my system 1 who is 18 6 balls in keeping still improving will be my no1 keeper in 2 seasons long as his max isn't 7 balls in keepin,
the other is a striker worth 200k which i may sell soon probably get 350k
that would easly take me past the 1 million pound mark

i hope this proves to people that the youth system does work

note the first season and probably second your not gonna make much money but hang in there

another thing i have no coaches and i won't till mz changes its training system or coaches

Was that player you sold for 250k the one with 7 passing and not much else? I remember seeing someone bid a lot for one of your youth players when looking on the market, and I think he only had one decent skill, nice deal.

i have 3 youth but will have 7 by tonight and the 3 i have now are really good. One of them has 4 league goals i think and the others play regularly in the 1st team when we have friendlies. My youth will be stars of the future

I got 8 youths, a few of them r crap, but I got a 100K-value keeper (came with 3 in keeping, first week of training got 1 more).
I also got a few 70K-range youths, one of them is on my starting (well I'm div 6).

I also got one youth with 4 shooting, 3 play int, 2 speed, 1 ball control, and 3 set plays and the rest 0 (well, except form). So all in all he's crappy (13 balls), but nevertheless, he has as much shooting as my starting forward.

I only have 3 youths. I was going to make it more but I accidentaly bought a player (meant to click on close) and it cost me £100000 of my £105000, so I have no money.

I have 2 of my youths in the first team as the main team is crap. I havn't won a friendly yet! :-puke:
