I didn't try to my friend, but you issued a challenge and I ask you to defend your choice and you can't.
Nedved must have scored a little more than a half dozen goals in Serie A last year and must have asisted on about the same amount.
I am certain Zidane did about the same, and if you add their impact to the team Zidane's is greater.

I think I know alot about football and I am sure you think you know a lot too, but come on, if the world's coaches voted on a player you have to respect that,
if they don't know football then who does.

shes not that bad. Stick her in a tight jeans, take off the glasses and put that hair in a ponytail and shed look alright.

She's got some wicked thighs and a great ass if I remember from the WC, but she does have a masculine look. I wouldn't introduce her to my friends, just pop on over to her house in the late night.

If, as you say, the goals and assists were about the same, then how does Zidane's impact on his team is greater than Nedved?

The only thing people rate Zidane higher is fancy skills and attacking. If then the attacking was equal last season, what makes Zidane better?

Fancy skills do not make you a better player, just look at players like Denilson, Recoba, etc..

IMO, and i bet many will agree, Nedved has a MUCH better work rate and is a better defensive player than Zidane. To me, that means that Nedved is the better overall player because he brings an all-around game to the pitch instead of being one-dimensional.

Hmmm...

i dont think that any forward is good enough to win that award...the goal of the striker is to score as much as he can but midfielders have to control all game...if some striker would win it i think ruud deserved it most!!!

I strongly disagree...I think that there are some really amazing midfielders who definitely have the ability to control an entire game, and orchestrate their teams movements from the midfield, but i'd also argue that there are players who can do that from up front. And Henry is a prime example, in my opinion, especially over players like Ruud and Ronaldo. For example, last year in the Premiership, Henry had 24 goals in league, with Ruud finishing one ahead of him with 25. So they are both capable of scoring plenty of goals (and some brilliant ones at that =]). But the telling difference is that Henry had 23 assists. Ruud had 3. Hm. Id say that's a prime example of an extremely talented worldclass striker who is the leading scorer on his team also having the skill and vision and un-selfish-ness (thats not a word is it?) to lead the team in assists. And thats a team that has Patrick Vieira, Robert Pires, Ljunberg, etc...All world class midfielders (especially Vieira!).

Ruud can score goals. But so can so many others. And i think Ronaldo is of Ruud's type (raw scoring power, with which he uses in a way that is rarely equalled, i'll admit that =]). But i see Henry as one of the most complete packages in terms of finishing, assisting, coming through in big games, and carrying a majority of that team on his shoulders...

So i didnt really think that Zidane deserved it, because although he is a brilliant player that most certainly will be remembered as one of the best midfielders to play the beautiful game, i dont think that his performance this season was as telling as the votes, and as the award he received supposedly showed...Call me an Henry fanboy, but i stand strong behind my belief that he is the best striker in the world, if only based on the account that he scores with the best the world has ever seen, and he assists with the best. And a bit of waxing nostalgia here, but that volley he hit against Man Utd in 01....In the words of the announcer: Sheer brilliance.

There's my two cents.

Trappattoni voted for Roberto Carlos, and he's probably one of the three most respected coaches in the world, so I guess Nedved didn't impress him enough or, he made a personal decision not to opt for anyone from his home league.

id like someone here who believe's Zidane actually deserved the award to come here and argue why he should of gotten it over say, RVN, Henry, Nihat, Nedved, R. Carlos, Nesta, or Buffon...Grunger0x, what do you mean when you say

'If the matter for winning it is Silverware, then Zidane deserved it. If it's not, then Nedved could have his "15 minutes of fame" this year i guess. But, Zidane is a better player than Nedved, and agree with me or not, the award is in good hands.'

Nedved won just as much Silverware, if not more last year....and maybe he might be a better player overall (and if you said he wasnt, i wouldnt agrue either) but he didnt have close to the year Nedved had...
Zidane won the La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup. Just help me a little bit with Nedved, he won the league, the Italian SuperCup and? I'm lacking memory...:D ;) Also, shokz, i meant that Ronaldo is the better goal scorer from the 3 top nominees. He scored 23 in La Liga whilst Henry scored 24 on EPL, but if i'm not mistaken, Ronaldo didnt play the entire league.

Does anybody have the list of who the coaches voted for? It appeared in the Gazzetta dello Sport but I didn't buy it.:(
