Two ways:
Have an HD ea scanned texture that has the similar features to your player, put the texture under the texture you want to change, set the eraser to about 30-50 % opacity and remove the bright lighting spots to even the texture out.

The other way is to do the same thing but instead of using an hd ea texture, use a darker version of the texture you want to edit.
