2010 African Cup of Nations

Oh, c'mon. You can't expect a team to go play a tournament like nothing happened, when a team mate of theirs died. I think it's a perfectly logical decision to withdraw. You guys can count yourselves lucky that the whole tournament didn't get called off.

The Von Trapps
the Africa Cup of shocks should have had more today ... Gabon shocked Cameroon 1-0, but they were lucky that Cameroon failed to convert their possession and chances into a goal, while Gabon set out to defend ...

but Zambia-Tunisia was another matter ... the 1st 40 minutes were amazing, and amongst the best football any Zambian fan has seen for a long, long, long time ... can't believe how well we were playing ... tricks, flicks, backheels, mazy dribbles, etc. ... and best of all, lots and lots of possession (65%, I believe) ... and when Jacob's goal arrived, it was more than deserved ... we were in total control ...

then, completely against the run of play, Tunisia equalized with their first shot from within the box ... the defence was very culpable, as (for some reason) all 3 defenders ran to the goal line to to block the shot, allowing a square pass to be played to the unmarked man, who roofed it ... very undeserved, and it made things even not only on the scoreboard, but also on the pitch for the rest of the match ...

Zambia had a goal disallowed when substitute Mayuka headed in ... but the call was correct ... 1-1 final score, though it could and maybe should (in the first half) have been so much more ...

it looks like the players gave their 100% on the pitch ... hopefully they didn't completely drain themselves, and have kept something in store for the minimum 2 matches remaining ...

Congrats man (Y)! Rainford Kalaba was really impressive, should have gotten a couple of goals today. Cameroon was really unlucky today Emana and Eto'o could not get past an impressive Gabon defense.

Oh and yesterday

he is really lucky to be okay after that could have gotten really hurt.

This time Angola won.

I think Angolan people hate Portugal for what they did to them as their slaves in the past. There was a pretty interesting buildup for that during WC 2006.

Eh dude, the Liverpool comeback was done within 6 minutes.

3-1 Gerrard 54'
3-2 Šmicer 56'
3-3 Alonso 60'

Funny logics.

So United came back tops both of them and they eventually won the final. Two goals in less than two minutes.

Angola was actually colonized not enslaved by Portugal, and on the contrary many Angolans support Portuguese sides & the NT same I believe goes for Mozambique.
Today is the big game of the round Ghana v Côte d'Ivoire. My prediction Ghana 2:1 Côte d'Ivoire, les ivoiriens...ils ne voient rien (H)!

So?

Fact of the matter is that a CL Final is always of much greater importance than an ACoN group game.

You're right. And it's sad that other Lusophone Nations arent in this CAN2010!

Hope that Angola and Moçambique can get trough.

Angola has some good players like Flávio ( great header ), Manucho, Gilberto, Djalma ( great player that in the end of the season might be in some of the 3 big Portuguese teams ), Gilberto, Stélvio that is a well know youth player ( he played at Portugal side in his youth career ).

Moçambique has the great ninja goalkepper xD

Hm, sorry, I thought we were talking about comebacks, not match importance.

Just imagine for a minute that Liverpool had been down 4-0 in the 75th minute and then came back. That would have been much more impressive, wouldn't it?

Ha! What can I say Ghana got Côte-devoured (H)!

On to my beloved Super Chickens tomorrow against Benin!

EDIT: Nice gesture by the Ivorian keeper to the Togolese team and Haiti.(Y)

Its always wrong to compare club matches with international matches.

and about that comeback, It was so great and unique. how many time you saw something like that in Euro or World Cup?

It need such a strong sense of confidence and believe to score 4 goals in a last 15 minutes and especially when you are 0-4 down.

Again, Liverpool came back was so great and historical as well but the comparison is ...

Yes, but seeing as the importance of a match like the CL final, it makes the comeback even more special. Much more special then this match.

The Von Trapps
can't believe its 1-0 ... a bit of a gift, but still it was a brilliant stepover and cross from Felix!

there was another close penalty call when the once-again-impressive Rainford Kalaba was brought down ... but the real chance to double the advantage fell to skipper Chris Katongo ... he really should have made it 2-0 when Kalaba's stinging freekick was parried straight into his path -- if he had hit it anywhere else, it would have been a goal ...

unlike in the Tunisia match, Zambia have failed to get any real possession ... and the midfield has been close to non-existent ...

the defence has been really well-organized ... 16-year-old Mbola at left back has been very impressive in keeping Achille Emana quiet ...

Cameroon have enough quality and more to win this match ... Emana needs to play more centrally, so that Eto'o is not isolated and can finally get some service ... Tchoyi needs to get more involved too ...

45 more minutes ... will be an historic night for Zambian football if it stays this way ...
