I love that my suggested defense had Dante, Dani Alves, and Luiz. Clear now that Luiz was only held in check by the dominating presence of Thiago Silva.

Surely it speaks volumes of Silva's man management abilities...look at the shambles of Milan's defense without him also

I'm glad I was old enough to domewhat appreciate the 98 World Cup because those of us who have been watching since then sawRonaldo and then Klose score all their WC goals. As a kid Brazil was the shit but sometime after Ronaldinho's goal against England joga bonito kind of vanished. Perhaps joga bonito has no place at the top level anymore.

The result oriented Brazil didn't win anything during the last three world cups ... people still talk about 1982 team ... It's not all about glory ... Brazil should stick to Joga Bonito and their coaches should use the best Brazilian players not their bud buddies.

A lot of people have made the point that this is exactly what Brazilian Football needed to spur the nation onto real change in its system. The nation has rested on its laurels while many have caught and surpassed them in the last 8 or so years. They don't produce the most creative players, or the best players, or even the highest number of professionals at a certain level anymore. Their youth development and coaching is extremely poor.

Unfortunately, I don't think this lesson will be learned in Brazil. I think it will be much easier for the nation and the FA to blame bad luck and believe that with Neymar (and Thiago Silva) they would have won the tournament. This kind of delusion is everywhere in the media, but I have not seen anything coming out of Brazil that suggests they need to fundamentally change the football system in their country. They see it as a one game shame (because of no Neymar) rather than the complete systematic failure which it was.

Also, with the potential of having 2 teams on either 3 (GER & ARG) or 4 (ITA & GER) World Cups, Brazilian invincibility of having won 5 world titles will fade too. I don't think that the problem of a systematic failure within Brazilian coaching/player development is limited to football either; Sporting-wise, what else is Brazil good at other than football?

They have produced some decent basketball players, but certainly they can't compete with Argentina, Spain, Serbia.

the only one who thinks this way is CBF and the less privilegiate sector of our population, regardless those ones, big part of our nation and about 80% of brazilian media knows we must make drastic changes in whole country(wont treat here all other problems in Brazil, such as health and education)!

In football we've to start supporting and increasing youth base's quality(as u said) and get even better coaches, give in,and contract foreigners.Brazilian league is getting worse more n more,we arent able to keep young talents for longer and we're far to get to UEFA level, soo far!Hope who're on charge for doing changes, rouse their lazy asses and do as soon as possible.

May we get the 6th in Qatar, upbeating in Russia!

ps:I said early, in other thread,we wouldnt get the match against germany anyway, even with thiago silva or neymar,we were poor/avarage since start, kept supporting cuz is our nation and it's up to us!
