It's 100% true that United were obviously more fatigued than Milan coming into this game, but to say being "fired up" is ALL about being fresh is obviously bull****. being fired up isn't just physical, it's also psychological.

Yes, i should have said part of it, not all about it.

PS: saw this on the wall in a Man City facebook group:

"He scores with his left, He scores with his right, That boy Kaka, Makes Ronaldo look ****e!"

Why 4 years? Is that how long it will take for you to find a decent manager, after you sack Mourinho in 3 weeks?

I don't look at it that way. United were tired, Milan weren't, Milan took advantage of that and won, therefore they deserved to win.

You are saying about setting priorities, well both teams did. Milan set their priority by starting with only Gattuso and Seedorf against Cagliari, a few days before first leg and then by starting only with Dida, Nesta, Ambrosini, Seedorf and Pirlo. They knew that they can't achieve much in Serie A, so they played their second string teams for the past two league games.
For United however, as i said before, Ferguson, Quieroz, Saha, Scholes, Giggs, Ronaldo i think and Rooney all said before the Milan games that EPL is a priority and they want to win it the most. Which is why every player except Vidic, who just came back from injury was involved in the past two league games and not just past two, more like past 10. So there is your priorities. United had their and Milan had theirs, which resulted in Milan being much fresher for the game.

As for the argument that Milan had it tough to pull back from the point deduction, they only got 8 points deducted, it would have not been enough to even put them in second place, they would still be trailing Inter by whole 20 points, even if they started with 0 from the first game.

As for the video, the commentators are pretty much saying how United had a bad tactic and weren't fired up for the game, which is exactly what i was saying in my post a few pages ago. 4-5-1 tactic does not work and never did and Fergie should have made subs earlier than 75th minute, when it was pretty much too late. And the fired up part, is all about freshness, United were tired, Milan weren't, therefore Milan were fired up, United weren't, simple.

i just cant agree with that, cuase if someone who watched both games they would say to you that you put things in such a simple matter ; milan had players unrested in todays game too; but by your ways of seeing things its like your saying manchester had more players unrested so in consequence manchester were tired since the start of the game. (N)
gattuso , kaka , the rain , cristiano, and the 12th man ( ancelotti ) were imo "the most important" factors to manchester demise today;
and about milan in the calcio you missed my point completly, almost everybody knew milan werent fighting for anything this season in the domestic league only the CL; but for some faith they are fighting for a CL ticket for next season, which with points shaved imo is very demanding given the standards; milans prioritys changed on this end of the season, i mean they are now fighting for 2 objectives really, how can that not be as demanding or as you like to put it taking bundles of energy from milans players too.

about the video, they also mention how milan was compuse and concentrated thuw out all the game; you can also hear how cristiano had double coverage, imo was key,
btw neither of the 3 goals had any insinuation of tiredness from manchester; the first goal was a smart pass by seedoorf and impecable finish by kaka; the second goal had 2 factors, the first was the slipery grass casue by the rain, which happen alot to manchester thruw out the game, and the second factor was seedorf beeing lucky getting that ball thruw that second defender tought it was a great finish; and the third goal was a consequence of a logical counterattack by milan meaning manchester have everyone up milans field, manchester just needed to score.

not using this as an excuse, but is it really suprising that the two teams who have nothing at all to play for in the league and in the position to rest a lot of key players at the weekend have went through? i mean when we and chelsea are pushing on 3 fronts in the final stages of the season and serie a well decided and at least a 4th place secured for ac milan and liverpool its no suprise they won out in the end given the amount of games we for example have had to play. pushing on 3 fronts with only 17 1st fit players is bound to catch up eventually, and i feel it did tonite

Thats not true because alot of teams have won the champions league and their respective leagues at the same time. Just because man utd or chelsea didnt do it then its not a good excuse.

Yes, that is what i'm saying. How is that not correct? Milan started with only 2 starters before the first leg trip to Old Trafford and with 5 starters before the second leg at San Siro. Kaka didn't feature in any of those two games and Gattuso featured only before the first leg. In my mind, when a player is playing, then he losses energy, but when he is not playing, he is saving energy. Is it different in your mind?

Gattuso and Kaka haven't played since Old Trafford getting an 8 day break. Ronaldo picked up a slight injury after first leg and still played for 30-35 games against Everton. Does that not explain, why Kaka and Gattuso looked so fresh, while Ronaldo looked tired?

If they were really all that worried about Serie A position as United was about the EPL position, would they play their second string side in the past 2 league games? A few month ago, maybe they were worried about getting a CL spot, but right now, they are not too concerned about domestic league, meaning that it is far less demanding for them. If they were fighting for 2 objectives equally, like United is fighting, then they wouldn't play their reserve team, now would they? They decided that they don't mind sacrificing points in the domestic league in order to get to the final, Manchester United cannot sacrifice a single point.

I just don't understand how you can't see the fatigue as a factor. Its as obvious as day and night. Milan had most of their team rested for a week TWICE, United had the whole team playing 2 MUST WIN games per 1 week. What's more demanding, having 1 important game or 2 very important games? Don't say that Milan's last two league games were important because its pretty obvious that they weren't.

so how much time does it take to save energy in your mind ? 1 , 2, 3 days? a week?; didnt manchester had a game with portsmouth and having 2 complete days rest before they trash roma and may i mention they had almost the exact same lineup.

sorry but i also saw the game and ronaldo didnt look tired, its a poor excuse, he got double coverage, he tried but he just couldnt it almost looked as he was scared sometimes, its too conceited to think if ronaldo had many days rested he would own the defense; ronaldo simply got outnumber and outplayed.
besides how do you know ancelotti didnt rest kaka, gattuso or seedorf to keep them away from injurys?; you could also say maybe gattuso, kaka and Co. wanted the win more , like that guy mention before, coming fired up to a game isnt only a phisical state, im just the kind of person that thinks the mind is more powerful than any phisical strenght, manchester were mentally ready for the roma game, today they werent, manchester could have won that game even with 2 days rest if they really wanted it to; they have done it before.

on the other issue if milan werent that concerned about the league why would they bring ronaldo on the second part of the season, its no coincidence mate, they knew before they bought him he couldnt play the CL; but they needed someone to help them get into the next one.

i aint denying completely fatigue could be factor on a game ; but this wasnt the case in this game imo; which brings me to quoting the last part of my last post which you fail to quote; in which i mention that in none of the 3 goals manchester indicated tiredness, the first goal was typical football, 2 great passes and a great finishing, and their were huge errors on the second and third goal, this is what i think its obvious dont know why you cant see that either.

God damn it...we were just outplayed and cudnt get going :(

Gattuso...wat a fcukin player he is !!!! MOTM imo.....we looked toothless in attack, shaky in defense and felt nervous :nape:....tired ? yes but i thought we cud have given some serious fight...afterall, its a CL semifinal ffs !

I wont take anything from milan though...they were professional enough to score at home and shut down our attack...ofcourse we played a 4-5-1 which helped them but SAF thought it might work

Now, we must win the title else m gonna be gutted even more....FA cup will be good but i want the title even more now....a double will be gr8 though :p

Good luck to milan and liverpool.....may the worst team win :(

this is what i was talking about in the first leg thread, those 2 goals away from milan really boost their condidence up and came to haunt manchester's in the second; its funny how almost the same thing happen to bayern against madrid; bayern tought they lost the first leg they knew those away goals were gold; ill bet anything if manchester would had win the first leg either 3 or 2 : 0 i could have see them dominating the second leg; its funny how thinking about numbers can sometimes screw someone's confidence and state of mine. lol

anyways i really think manchester are going to make the double domesticly; i fell its like a reckoning for them getting eliminated from the CL and somebody needs to pay lol; good luck to you guys.

thats why Fergie is blaming the Premier League for being knocked out by Milan.

Oh, i can see that there were errors on all the goals and not much of tiredness because Vidic didn't cover Kaka on the first one, miskicked his clearance on the second one and Vidic wasn't tired, he wasn't match fit. Infact the United defense wasn't really tired because they are bench players, they have been resting the whole season, while players like Ronaldo, Giggs, Scholes, Rooney and Carrick have been playing 2 games a week for over 2 month now. Yes, United had only 2 days rest before they beat Roma, but that was in England, they beat Milan in England as well. But that was Roma, a team full of players that never been to the quater finals of the CL. All these games add up. You bring Porstmouth in the example, United played Roma with 10 players for an hour, while Porstmouth had a nice long 7 day rest. United were really tired after a long game and a long flight, Pompey was very fresh playing at home. Pompey won because they had more energy and not because they are a better team.

Again about Serie A, Ronaldo wasn't bought 2 weeks ago, now was he? So how is that relevant to the fact that Milan played their reserve team in the last two league games? I don't know how it is in the rest of europe, but in England, when you rest more than half your team, it means that you don't mind losing the game to get your players rested. If Milan can afford to rest 7-8 players for a game, then there is no way that their games are as demanding as United ones. Milan can't move up any further in the standings, no matter if they win or lose, but if United slip up at least a little bit, then all season's hard work will be gone in a second. Milan played with their second team, while United had to comeback from a 2-0 down in a must-win game. Same demands? Obviously not.

I'm not saying that fatigue was the only reason, why Milan won, i wouldn't be saying that they deserved to win otherwise, but it was one of the biggest factors in this game. If you don't see it, after i explain it in the simplest ways possible, then you'll never see it or just always chose to ignore it. If you don't want to believe that resting more than half the team means that they will be fresh, then there is nothing i can do because its the most obvious thing in football. The players that were tired the most are all the attacking players that have been playing 2 games per week for almost 10 weeks in a row. If your attacking players are tired, then how can 1. protect the defense well for 90 minutes (like Gattuso did), 2. run around with the ball, pegging the other team as close to the net as possible? Tired feet can't do that. If you didn't see Ronaldo being tired, then you must not be watching him a lot because his movement off the ball and on the ball was totally different from what it was a few weeks ago. You think he is scared? Scared of what or who? He played in EURO final and World Cup semifinal, single-handedly carring his country there, he has been an instrumental figure this season in EPL a league where defenders kick you much more than in Italy. What was he supposed to be scared of? He was exhausted from all the games played not scared.

If you don't see such an obvious thing as fatigue to why United couldn't mount a decent attack or help the defense out, then you never will. I can't explain it any longer, its there, it was a big factore, the facts are totally there. If you still chose to no acknowledge it and ignore instead, then whatever its your choice, i don't want to think about this game any longer. NOT implying that you don't know anything, but any person that knows something about football, would easily see, how much of a factor fatigue was in this game.
