I like the new Predator Absolute more and more each time I see it. That default white/red/black colourway just looks awesome on every Predator that Adidas made :p.

what reason is there for football boots to have "steel" cleats exactly... i know for one you are able to adjust the height of the cleat for very very wet conditions but other than that does it aid in traction alot better than molded cleats... or maybe its because the molded ones tend to decrease in size(stud pressure). if there are other reasons, post 'em please.

but by the while here's what sprouted the thought... F30+ SG

to get better grip on wet conditions, with the molded studs you slip a lot, so the metal gives u better traction

forgive me i had not made myself completely clear...
what i was asking was what were the advantages of having steel/steel tipped cleats like the F30+ SG i showed before as compared to the F50+ steel tipped SG (identical to those of the predators on this same page) if any... they both have the same amount of studs (9) but in the F50+ and Predators there are 8 removable/steel tipped studs and one molded while in the F30+ all 9 studs are molded.

I just thought that it might be more convenient (definitely for me at least) to have Traxion SG stud configuration with molded studs

but then again there may be very few of us (if any at all) that have played in a molded SG boot as it is a rare thing so we may not be able to get the info from someone that has experienced both, although i am hoping that i can.

The original concept of having these two types of boot was that one should be used on very soft wet surfaces (SG) and the other should be used on more harder, firm surfaces (FG).
This was because, the steel (SG) stud was long and would dig into any wet soft surface and the moulded (FG) stud was short and the plastic like material the stud was made out of would grip in on the firm surface.

In theory using SG boots on FG surfaces would cause you to slide a lot (especially if the ground was really firm) because the metal studs would just glide on top of surface and this is also partly due to the fact that the studs are long.
You're feet are also likely to be in some pain aswell if you use SG boots on the really hard surfaces like dry astroturf. Because the studs are longer and metal, it would be like vertually walking/running with around with a set of metal pins attached to you're sole! This is due to you're studs sitting on top of the surface instead of digging into the surface!

Using FG boots on SG surfaces (especially the really wet surfaces) should cause to loose traxtion and slip alot. Because the FG stud is shorter and plastic, it can't dig into the ground far enough to give you enough grip to turn and stop properly.

Although all this has been said, the actual difference of Firm Ground (FG, Moulded) and Soft Ground (SG, Metal) type boots have narrowed quite considerably in the last few years. (Especailly Adidas Boots)

If you look at these to types of boot (F50+)
One of the main factors that effect FG/SG boots is stud length but with these two boots as with most boots these days, they are almost identical in stud length.

FG Boot:-

SG Boot:-

But their are boots out there that still conform to the original concept.
Take a look at the FG and SG Mercurial Vapor.
You can clearly see not only is the SG boots' stud longer, its studs are rounded aswell giving it more traxtion when wet (than a metal blade).

FG Boot:-

SG Boot:-

Because the differences in FG and SG are less in newer boots you can get away with wearing FG boots on SG surfaces and vice versa if the ground is not too bad.
Although I strongly wouldn't recommend anyone to use the wrong type of boot for a surface because the chances of injury are greatly increased.

Hope that explains your query!

Excuse all my blather from the last post!
To answer your re-worded question, there is quite a differnce. The F30+'s (SG) moulded metal coloured studs are just for show. Because they are a cheaper model Adidas decided to keep the material costs down by not using metal studs.
In other words, the F30+ SG uses the moulded studs in a metal colour with the SG stud layout. Its a bit of marketing con from Adidas.

F30+ (SG), Fg studs in metal colour with SG stud layout:-

F50+ (SG), Real Metal slightly longer studs SG layout:-

Hope that cleared it up for you!

Well they've certainly fockered up the vintage qualities of the Legends by making all sorts of fancy pancy colourways for it.

Heres that pic, bigger:-
I'm definitely gettin 'em. The Chilli Red is really quite light in shade compared to the older Team red version of the vapor II.
