From what i heard this squad was picked by some of the finest managers from all over Europe. I guess they aren´t the real football authorities, you are.

:boohoo:

Did i say italy shouldve had any more players in team? no. I was actually surprised Zambrotta was there (not cause of his play, but cause of italys performance)

Holger Osiek was on the panel. (recently sacked by CANADA)

:( No Spaniards....

But then again, I can't think of any who deserved to be on there. I think everyone's chances were cancelled out by the performance against the Portuguese. If Valeron had played more I think he would have made that squad.

Spain and Italy were the biggest shames of the tourney. Had their coaches made better decisions, things wouldve been diff. Oh well, WC awaits:)

Yup, thank God that Saez resigned. Maybe we'll get to see Spain's true finest in the World Cup. I want to see Reyes and Torres up top recreating the success they had in the younger squad.

I think they should've chosen "best goalie, defender, midfielder and forward" instead of all-star squad. So here goes:

Best GK: van der Sar (stopped PK, was awesome against Czech Rep., I would've chosen Ricardo if he hadn't made the horrible miscalculation during the goal during the final.)
Best Defender: Dellas (doesn't need to make any fouls to get the ball, can score from corners, Carvalho a close second, still fouls too much)
Best Midfielder: Nedved (very all-round and decisive, the reason Czech Rep. lost vs. Greece, he makes the right passes and crosses).
Best Attacker: Milan Baros (underestimated and underappreciated at LFC, even though he looks down at the ball too much when he has the ball. He can improve and he has a lot of potential to become very big. He's only 21 or something.)

Yup.... but only 2 goalies.... and cech and nikopolidis does deserved there.... if only there were 3 spots for goalies... vd sar is definitely the next on the list..

robben was an important part of the dutch team.... he's magnificent.....

Paulo Da Silva

Starting XI
i agree with Vagegast. there shouldn't of been an all star team.

Goalie:Nikopolidis---so secure. any defense looks good with a great goalie like him

Defender:Carvalho----He started and Portugal's defense changed. Dellas is a close second.

Midfielder: Maniche--like Mourinho said "it gets tiring seeing him run so much"

Stiker:Baros--5 goals. nuff said

youngster of the Tourn. :

Cristiano Ronaldo

Wayne Rooney comes second. he scored goals against two horrible national teams. Still a very good prospect.

Rooney in first eleven? please.

Rooney scored 4 goals...... against Croatia and Switzerland

Charisteas scored 3 goals.... against Spain, France and Portugal.

No Comparison.

EDIT: And Seitardis was the best RB, hands on. Get outta here with Miguel. I know its all opinion based, but this ones a given.

Wow. I've read this entire thread and you really have it in for England don't you. Rooney's performance against France was awesome too and apart from Zidane he was man of the match, so of course he deserves to be there.

here's mine:

GK : Nikopolidis (started to admire him since the first game vs portugal... and the white hair looks awesome (H) he's solid and very calm)

Defender: Carvalho (he's very good this tournament)...

Midfield: hard to decide...maniche/zagorakis (maniche was all over the place... and zagorakis too... they're 2 of the hardest working players I've seen this touney.... vs france zagorakis got tackled hard and then 5 minutes later he went pass lizarazu and made that beautiful cross that resulted in the goal... and in the final he made me laugh when he took the ball from his own teammate .. and booted it away...he's the best captain this tourney too)

Striker: Baros (he knows how to score.....)

yeah and c ronaldo really impressed me.... and ashley cole was magnificent in the portugal game...

I do think hes a good player, just that the media is blowing it all outta preportion. (i know its not his fault). He deserves to be on that euro 2004 team for sure, but not the first eleven.

Yeah, the British Media kept taking Sven's words out of context, he never even compared him to Pele.

Why do you have to mix Rooney with the ENGLISH press? I think Rooney is a quality player with lot´s of potencial. I mean cmon this guy has been playing professional football since he was 16, i think he is the youngest english player to ever score in official matches of the english Nt and he scored 4 goals in a major tournament with 18. Give credit to where it´s due. I personally am a big fan of this player. I just hope he learns to control his temperament. Oh, and no offense to Everton but i hope he gets transfered to a big club, so we can watch him play in the other continental competitions (Uefa and CL).
