Oh, and women's gymnastics is something I just can't watch. All of those girls are so in my wheelhouse it's disturbing. At least there doesn't appear to be a jailbait goddess like Shawn Johnson on this year's team.

Real shame that Nastia Liukin is not there and that she has retired. Sad that it had to end this way at the Olympic trials.

Yeah, this is something I've asked my mom about too because she does it. I think it's just the way that people 35-60 were taught the same way you'll hear old people say negro. The thing that is weird to me is that when someone who normally says black will say "african american" when they're doing something professional.

Does American English make any use of mixed-race terms from Latin America; such as mulatto for a person of half white and black ancestry?

We do, but most of those terms are considered dubious in 2012. Don't use them if you come here. I know you Aussies and Eastern Euros are very fond of calling everyone you see the N word, too. Leave that **** at home.

Phelps has more gold medals than anyone else (except for Larisa Latynina) has total medals.

This is going to sound incredibly sexist, especially about someone so fit, but she looks out of shape in this video with a few extra pounds particularly in the stomach. But this is gymnastics, and the ideal standard is a pre-pubescent girl; they don't allow 14 year olds to compete because they are too good.

Yellow Card
Justlin Gatlin has already laid down the marker against Tyson Gay. He put up 9.97, Gay only reached 10.08. And both got wiped by Ryan Bailey's 9.88. Honestly, there is no chance for Tyson Gay to finish in the medals. He would need a lot of help for that to happen. Asafa Powell might have to be the favorite for the bronze medal. The others would probably be chasing him.

The 9.9 seconds* that I will spend watching the 2012 Olympics are almost here.

* well, it will really be 9.9 seconds + 2 minutes pre-race + 2 minutes post-race analysis.

I chortled because I can absolutely relate to your pedo-bear concerns, bro. And not to mention, Shawn Johnson is apparently an insatiable f/uck zombie.

Remember Alicia Sacramone? I believe she was the most age appropriate Gymnast for us from that '08 team.

Of course I remember Sacramone, she was my second favorite after Johnson. Then Liukin, and in last place was Chelsie Memmel even though she's from 'Stallis, Wisconsin a western suburb of Milwaukee (actually the closest one on that side to the city and with a working class/white trash twinge to it).

But anyway, Shawn Johnson was the kind of girl that drives Nabokov to write dirty novels.

Great win from Ennis, takes a lot to not crack under the pressure.

Looking forward to the mens tennis gold medal match and the 100m mens final of course.

Pretty interesting how their using Remote Controlled Mini Coopers to ferry javelins and discuses.

Both Blake and Gatlin equalled their personal bests. Bolt is absolutely ridiculous.

Edit: Blake equalled and Gatlin topped his. There's no way Bolt would have lost, he just lets them go ahead for the good of the show.

Talked the talk walked the walk. Crazy how he managed to just turn it up another gear at the 3/4 mark.
