“i have took Barnsley to the premiership and the Uefa Cup, its not as though im a newcomer in the network world, ive played a lorra lorra games as cilla would say. But compared to a normal 'single player' game its pathetic” Tom

Obviously that’s only your opinion, and you can only comment on your personal experience of your online play. But the statement pathetic in online mode only suggests to me that you’ve not sadly been lucky enough to get the right balance between the two. Single player mode is too easy, non competitive, anti social and after a while gets so boring as nothing the Ai can throw at you is even remotely interesting. It is how ever good if you want an easy quick game, that you can build your fantasy dream team with. I’ve started my Stirling Albion team in Div 3 and got promotion in the first season and expect in to be in the SPL by season 4 in single mode. I use it more as a testing ground.

When the clan game Starts it will be dog eat dog with the 15 teams, promotion will be no cakewalk and there are no easy games home or away as the human teams get strengthened and battle it out. When I play my clan mate I know they are doing everything they can to get the three points and are finding it just as hard as me.

Put simply my experience is that single player mode is fine and great fun for when I’ve got the odd hour to fill and get my 3 div team into the CL. (Yes S. Albion in the CL) total fantasy but great fun, with little disappointment.
Online I get to share the fun and get real competition (Promotion if I’m Lucky with in a few seasons) with lots of frustration but joy as well as I get one over my friends in a few of the games. I prefer the more difficult clan game and find it more rewarding, as I get nothing really out of beating only the Ai, which makes some funny decisions and lets me buy all the good players.

I hope that someday you get the same deal of fun I’m getting out of the clan games. If not well at least your enjoying playing the Ai, so every one to there own.

“Whats good about watching everyone around you snap up all these dodgy foreigners that everyone knows turn out to be amazing players all the time, its so predicable. You always know which mates will buy who and how well they will ultimatly do.” Tom.

So totally the same as single player except you can buy all the players without the competition to build you team. Thankfully the lads don’t know every player but they do use there knowledge to the full but at least it is 15 teams buying these amazing players and not just the one like in single player mode that I find so predictable as you said “Barnsley to the premiership and the Uefa Cup” predictable yes if your in single player mode give it another season and it will be Barnsley in the CL.

I'll give you one thing, you're no Scott Parker, at least you actually debate not shout. (certain people will know what that means)

If you spent enough time on these forums then you would know that single player is not easy for the majority of players, most people on these forums havent taken Stirling Albion to the CL or any other low team for that matter either. Sure you hear stories of these but most of the players on here will be happy to get into division 3 after quite a few struggling in the conference. It may be very easy for you and easy for a select amount of us, but the majority of people here find single player games a challenege.

Saying single player games are non-competetive is wrong in my opinion, people are always comparing how well they have done on games via screenshots or even just talking in general. THIS is competition. Just because it is not in the same game does not make CM in the sligtest bit non-competetive.

Anti-Social, thats the only stupid comment in your whole argument.

A.I do everything that more realistically than the human players, i PERSONALLY feel that Barcelona signing Davids for example is pretty realistic. However i find Barcelona signing Adu, Pain , Trifonov, Tsigalko, McMaster etc. is completly unrealistic. Also, how is playing a 2-1-4-2-1 realistic compared with a 442?

yeah very good idea, if you're gonna play network games properlly then testing tactics is essential since you wont get one easy game. But like i say, most people dont find it as easy as that on single player

how exactly is 15 teams going for promotion realistic? battling out games everyone fighting out EVERY game is realistic as you say. But when everyone playing has a chance of getting promotion from The Scottish Third Division. I'd hardly say that it was imitating real life, or do you not mean that?

well said. Good sell.

Most people... dont buy every single player like that... because it loses realism, i dont know whether you do gbut ive only ever seen that happen on network games just to spite other people who are playing. Never in one game have i bought loads of 'known' wonderkids, otherwise it would be unrealistic, you seem to have a low opinion of everyone.

I've yet to play a game where everyone playing DOESNT know of every special player in the game, ive played with friends who never use the net, but they all know about them anyway.

Like i say further up, syaing that everyone on single player mode buys all the 'wonderkids' is just naive, I dont and im pretty srue that most people dont either. Wheres the fun in that?

nice coversation with both good points :clapwap:. I have played with friends too, and it was like Tom said, both (2 friends) were trying to buy Tsigalko, Adu, Paim, you know. Still it is good fun to embarrase your friends.

I think both are great as Cm0304 IS a challenge (for me)

Tom

oh yeah im not denying its fun trying to destroy your mates and you can talk about it for years to come, that IS good, but again the novelty of doing that seems to wear off after a while.

I thought you found CM0304 really easy!?

no, it is harder as CM4, it is not too hard, so it gets frustrating.

BTW: about online games, you have always problems, or the brother of 1 of my friends had to go on the PC, so you can't really get a good long lasting game.

Tom

That Nice Guy
yeah that is annoying but me and Sav said if that wasnt a problem, somewhere in the first page i said that if that WASNT a problem then we started debating. lol

However that is a valid problem. lol

Has anyone else still got that shooting bug?.

I've tried some top quality tactics where as I get around 20-30 attempts(and I'm using Dave's training sched) on goal at average, and I'm lucky if 1 chance is converted into the back of the net, this is so ******* pissing me off.

Well, I started the season with £39m transfer budget, sold a bunch of players which raised my funds to £75m, anyone wanna tell me who I should take a gamble on?.

When I say single player games are non-competitive, sorry I mean it with regards to Clan play (Human players can turn matches around a lot better), the majority of players will in single player games progress and if you’ve played the game long enough the sky is the limit. It takes a lot longer in the clan game that’s all, and I have to plan games (the style and players on the other team) were as with the Ai I am sorry to say I win most with little thought until I get into the SPL.

“how exactly is 15 teams going for promotion realistic? battling out games everyone fighting out EVERY game is realistic as you say. But when everyone playing has a chance of getting promotion from The Scottish Third Division. I'd hardly say that it was imitating real life, or do you not mean that?” TOM

This is how it will go, 8 players are in the 3rd and 7 in the second. We all picked our teams out the hat at our meet up. Probably 4 teams will fight it out for promotion in each Div realistically (a few of the lads last game came bottom and one got relegated), and then the same again in season two. Last game on CM4 it took me three seasons to get promotion and it was so close down to the last game. After say four seasons we have built up some great wee teams, we don’t buy wonder kids (we are not interested & cost too much) normally the budget is about 4K-20K and its home grown talent we tend to buy and we have rules about not going the old firm. We don’t really concentrate on who is the best out of the lot of us, but take interest, last game one member taking his team in Europe was great to see when the rest were in the lower divisions. It’s more about just adding that wee bit extra to the game the banter is great also. With 15 players we all find our level and have a good old fight, the top 2-3 disappear into the SPL and thankfully leave the rest of us alone till we can make it in or as with this new game take a job out with our starting team.

We do have our short lists but these are quite realistic targets to start with and when we move on and we get more cash it’s mostly players we know and not 14 years olds. I tend to buy players I’ve watched in the clan matches that I know can do a job for me.

“Anti-Social, that’s the only stupid comment in your whole argument.” TOM

Sorry about that I think I was still annoyed with the comment that

“net games are almost always ****e anyway” TOM

“I've yet to play a game where everyone playing DOESNT know of every special player in the game, ive played with friends who never use the net, but they all know about them anyway.” TOM

I think we in the clan pass this problem with where we start. We don’t have the money or the reputation to bring in a list of wonder kid’s that would be more the case if everyone started in say the EPL or even the SPL with a top team.

I’ll have to try Adu for Stirling Albion (nah never going to happen) lol

[rant]Nevermind, uninstalled.

I've never known a game that could drive me so mad with bugs, it was diabolicol, I've never uninstalled a CM game(apart from when the new version comes out).

Final patch my arse!, I expect SI to bring out a couple of patches in the new year.[/rant]

edit.

Well after my rant, I decided to reinstall the game and apply the patch, praying that this is a lucky install, without the shooting bug.
