Any muslims on SG? please help me

Recently, a Norwegian and a Danish newspaper posted some drawings of Muhammed. As far as I know he is some sort of holy prophet for the muslims. After these drawings where published, hell broke loose. Today the norwegian embassy in Syria was stormed and burned because of this.

The thing I don't get is, why do muslims care so much about this? I mean, extremeists have threatened to take out any Norwegian target because of these drawings.

To me it doesn't make any sense. It was ONE very small newspaper that posted it, not the entire country. Secondly, it's just a drawing. If there are anyone here who are muslims, just help me out to undertstand the big deal with this. Cause I don't get it.

I'm not trying to justify the drawings nor disrespect any muslims with this thread, I'm just trying to understand.

What I find the most disturbing is how they're all so quick to condemn and react against AN ENTIRE FU*KING COUNTRY over some drawings made by 11 Danes, out of about 5 million Danes (which means they represent less than 0,001% of the Danish population), yet fu*k all seems to be done by the authorities in their countries to stop death-threats against ANY Dane or Swede or Norwegian or whatever.

I've heard that some newspaper in Saudi Arabia released two fake drawings, one with Muhammed depicted as a pig, and another of him fu*king an animal, two cartoons NEVER printed in Jyllands-Posten.

Looks like racism and intolerance is well and alive in the Arab/Muslim world as well.

And you just know this will provide great fuel for the right-wing douches of the Western world as well...

I am a muslim and I think that people shouldn't be blowing up sh*t cuz of a cartoon. I mean, I am offended and angry that they would make a drawing like that but that doesn't mean i'm gonna go blow sh*t up. Also, you guys say that the whole country (Denmark?,Norway?) shouldn't suffer because of a few idiots, yet 90% of idiots in the world call islam a hateful religion and call all of us terrorists because of the idiots who have the religion twisted up in their heads and think it's right to kill in the name of God. (i can't control you guys and tell you what to think and do, but before insulting a whole group of people, get a hold of a translated Qur'an and read....)
I am in no way saying that it's right what people did to that embassy, I'm just telling you guys to take a look at yourselves cuz you're doing the same. And yes, I think that this is a provocation and not freedom of speech, but people took it waaay too serious. I mean ...why bother?

I think pretty much the world's majority beleives and understands that terrorists are a very small minority in the Muslim world, remember the world-wide protests against the Iraq war, that continue even today? Although those recent images and signs don't exactly make a good arguement in your favour, as far as the public eye is concerned..

What's worrying to me is that if this continues, it will indeed be fuel for hardline right-wingers. This will make life very hard for all Muslims living in western countries..

imho, it was provocative, offensive and of very bad taste, but the reaction is WAY too exagerated... the muslim people are in majority peaceful, though burning an embassy and "your 9/11 will come" make people think otherwise (mainly because the media loves this kind of reaction)

At the end of the day, it's a picture. A cartoon. They need to relax and take a chill pill. The threats are giving ordinary muslims a bad name, and if nothing else encourages more cartoons and caricatures.

Death threats, bomb threats, sandal slapping, burning flags, waiting outside EU compounds pointing AK-47's and holding banners threatening a 9/11 in Europe and beheading? How very ironic it is that this religion is complaining about a cartoon that depicts Islam/Mohammad as a terrorist bomber, then followers of the religion do exactly what is depicted within the cartoon.

If your going to protest on our streets, thats fine and all that, but I find it offensive when there are alot of Muslims on the streets of London chanting slogans such as 'Down, down UK' and even more stupid are the 'behead those who insult Islam' banners, and there are just too many of them and it doesn't exactly make your religion look so peaceful on global television.

And anyway, what the fuck does it have to do with us, the United Kingdom? our national newspapers, to this date, have not printed these offensive cartoons. These anti-UK singing (surely that is inciting hatred), banner-holding racialist idiots should be locked away until they know better than to bite the hand that feeds them. Hell, I ought to buy a pair of sandals on eBay and give these some of these randoms what for, but fortunately I don't live in London, shit place anyway.
