PES3 would've been pretty good with first touch. In a way it already has first touch and I think that will be improved in PES4 so you shouldn't worry. there are other flaus that I hope they improve.

Not as much as it would Emile Heskey's game.

One thing I've noticed about Fifa is that the ball only seems to go into the net in about 3 or four places.

after playing fifa 5 games at my friends house, i can say ill play it no more... first touch isnt really necessary, its a repetitive way to dribble and thats it, just like any other game, you can do the same at PES with the right analog and dribble in a way that is more realistic, cuz on fifa 2005 with the first touch there is some dribbling that could only appear on a nike commercial..

@ozzyosb - I've tried the Fifa2005 demo. I still think it's crap. They've still got a long way to improve. if it does improve, I don't mind playing it. But I don't have any FIFA games for PS2 coz I don't think it deserves it. :crazyboy:

OMG, are you all braindead? In every single football game out there they have first touch. If there wasnt 'first touch' then the ball would never reach the player's feet! If you stand still and let the ball bounce of you from a pass, THAT is your first touch. First touch never got introduced by any of the games at a certain time, they maybe just giving you a bit more control over it, over the years.

I`ve just tried the FIFA 2K5 on PS2. And to tell you the truth, the first touch is kinda interesting. It`s not quiet simillar with the ones in PES. If EA can keep this up and improve it, not removin` it like previous years  then this can be their trademark like the accurate foot settings in PES.

at last someone who actually tried the demo, rather than just blurting out what people expect them to say in order to keep their PES loyalty spotless..

i agree: it is well done. both animation-wise AND gameplay-wise. it doesn't work all the time and it sure is not there 100% but it greatly adds to the realism of a game, that is not necessarily known for being very realistic.

most of all it's great to see, that there are fellow PES players who not get lost entirely in their jaded fanboyism, but are open and willing to acknowledge what "the other" game might bring to the table.

'The other' game (as you call it, we call it Fifa) is good this year, but in a thread about the first touch, you can't complain about people saying the truth.

PES has had a first touch system (using mainly d-pad + R1/2) where you can kill the ball, shift it to the side, knock it out infront of yourself, perform a turn, etc and this is what a player generally does when receiving the ball.

When a player receives the ball, does he normally flick it up and over his head, or perform 'Bergkamp's turn'??

The system EA have used is innovative, but has not been implemented as well as it could, and probably should have been.

Most people's opinions on here seem to be that if EA spent more time getting their actual gameplay engine right, instead of introducing new 'gimmicks', then they could introduce these things after they had the basics sorted.

Almost all of you that say PES 3 have first touch and you can do alot of things with it etc is overestimating it.

The touches in PES3 are clumzy.

I think that only clumsy ft in pes3 is when yoru're about to receive a long ball. Players hardly kills it dead or flicks it ahead to their advantage. Mostly they either let it bounce for ages or stops it with chest thus killing all the likely advantage over defenders after good long pass. Othervise first touch works fine using R1,R2. I don't need those ''suppa kewl'' circus tricks that fifa usually implements. As someone mentioned it makes the game alike the nike comercial clips.

I use Trustmaster gamepad with pc. It has very similar layout to ps gamepad only there are couple of buttons more. And I use deafault scheme by Konami. It's brilliant.

well its all sort of based on an opinion, but its mostly because of the styles of play...

To me the "first touch feature" in fifa 2005 wouldn't be the kind of thing you'd expect in pes
and the music in pes isn't what you'd expect to have in fifa...
