Indeed, His Holy Awesomeness Pep Guardiola I (pbuh) has been the single most influential person in Henry career. Before 2008 Henry's career had a trajectory similar to that of Festus Agu, until Pep did every within his divine powers to ensure Henry would live amongst such all time greats such as Alex Hleb, Jesper Blomqvist and Ronny Johnsen. Praise him.

Oh yeah we beat West Ham 3-0. Good stuff.

.......strange, the 1st msg with the final score at night......so van Persiex2 and Walcott!

Henry should be thankful every day for Pep's job at assembling and coaching the invincibles.

Oh wait, Pep's never had an invincible season? IMPOSSIBLE!!!

We've definitely found our best line up when it comes to attacking. We should definitely score more goals this year than we have in the past few. Defense is still wobbly though. Our title push will come down to consistency; we need to go on a run.

LOL, at those losers.
I have no intention of involving myself in the original discussion ... but I would like to say that "invincible" in one's own league counts only so much, as far as I'm concerned ... I personally don't rate the Prem, so that counts even less in my book ... don't get me wrong, it's a good achievement from Arsenal, and undoubtedly an historic achievement as far as they and the Premiership are concerned ... but I'd take a Champions League-inclusive-treble-winning season over an undefeated domestic league season any day ...

Just wondering, any other team achieved the invincibles?

EDIT:

In English football, "The Invincibles" has been used to refer to either the Preston North End team of the 1880s,[1][2] or the Arsenal team of the 2003-04 season.[3] In both cases, the teams won the top division of English football unbeaten, the only two times this has occurred in English football history.

Wikipedia knows it all.

"the invincibles" isn't another word for 'team that has achieved an undefeated season' ... that's just what the English call their teams that have done that ... here's the wikipedia article you're looking for:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_season#Domestic_teams

Milan's achievement in the early 90s, which ended up stretching to 58 games, would be the most deserving of the title 'the invincibles', if they were to be given an English moniker ... they dominated the era preceding that season at home and in Europe, capping it off with an undefeated season in 91/92 ...

So it's been done three times since 1900 in a top league, and only once in the most recent decade. Yeah, no big deal.

A Champions League is obviously the biggest achievement, but in terms of difficulty, it's harder to have an invincible season than to win a treble. And BTW, the best teams in England are much closer to the rest of the pack than in Spain or Italy; Real Madrid, Barcelona (the last few years), and Inter (from the last 5 years) have been ridiculously better than even mid-table clubs, so the fact that they haven't done it really proves how difficult it is.

Would an english team still be classified "invincible" if they end the season undefeated but don't win the league due to draws..

yes, no big deal if you don't impose yourself in Europe in a similar manner ...

if you have won the league undefeated in March/April, then play reserves for the remainder of the season, and lose a game or two, what does it matter?

England's Champions League qualifiers have been the same for quite a few years now ... you have no case along this line, because each league shows domination and balance in its own way ...

also you don't watch calcio, so how can you judge how close the games are? and do you know how many times in the last 5 years that the top 4 in Italy have been comprised of the exact same teams?

and I'd be surprised if you know much about La Liga outside the big teams from a source other than FM ... I agree about Barcelona and Real Madrid's domination being ridiculous, but the rest of the pack amongst themselves are not so disparate in quality ... again, the composition of the top 4 counterpoint is valid for Spain ...

3-1 at Dirty Leeds means we play Benik Afobe (if he recovers) and Huddersfield in the next round. Great win, two great goals from Bacary and Samir - our two best players this season. Arshavin still doesn't look like he's breaking into the first eleven anytime soon though, worked a lot harder than he's done recently but nothing seemed to click for him.

You'd better behave yourself this time!

Charlie Adam is actually quite good, I can imagine he'll ben getting a move to a top-half team next season.

Liverpool are offering 4m pounds for Charlie Adam? How insulting is that offer? He's worth more than that to Blackpool THIS SEASON considering the difference he'll probably make in their final position in the table. Not to mention ticket and jersey sales.
