Wot a holy day. Should be a public holiday!

Indeed.

Lets have a moment of silence remembering all the great things that Wenger has done for the club and also think about a future that is looking bright. :sun:

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger fears too much expectation is being placed on Jose Antonio Reyes to become the club's own version of Wayne Rooney.

As teenage hot shot Rooney crowned his UEFA Champions League debut with a stunning hat-trick for Manchester United against Fenerbahce on Tuesday evening, Reyes was preparing for his latest European date against Rosenborg.

Reyes was brought to Highbury from Sevilla in January and has immediately made a huge impact for the Premiership champions.

He has enjoyed a fantastic start to the new season and Wenger concedes the young Spaniard will be pivotal in the club's Champions League challenge this term.

But while Wenger has been delighted with Reyes's progress, he is acutely aware of the dangers of burdening the attacker.

Wenger feels Reyes is being compared to England ace Rooney and he is concerned that Gunners supporters are asking too much, too soon of the Spain international.

"Jose is in a Rooney situation because people expect so much of him," said Wenger.

"Everyone around Manchester is expecting Rooney to come in to their team and make an immediate difference and it is the same with Reyes.

"Our fans expect him to score in every game.

"But football is not that simple and when you are young, your form goes up and down very quickly.

"Jose has a big part to play in the Champions League because I bought him to replace (Dennis) Bergkamp in Europe.

"He has been fantastic for us so far and adapted much quicker than I expected. He is already physically stronger than when he arrived from Sevilla and has been a pleasant surprise."

HAHHA I remember when Rey R. first arrived to the team he was gettin pushed around like a little fool. Now that he has bulked up you dont see him on the ground as much. BWAHAHHAAH

I think Wenger should give Pennant or VP a start against the weaker EPL teams.

Starting XI
Reminds me of the goal Titi scored against Chelsea in the FA Cup about 2 years back.
Master class.

Paddy knocked a long ball forward, Titi controlled and spun around Cudicini to tap the ball in.
