If Cassano repeats his play of last season he doesnt deserve to start for Italy.

Maybe because I am from Bari but I still beleive Cassano had a good season. Was it his best? No, but it was better then most.

I remember watching the siena game and he assisted 4 goals!

4!!!

Like I don't care what anyone says #18 is the man and I hope to see him play for italy.

Not juve though, anyone but juventus.

Interistas and their underwear :(

I wonder why Mancini hasnt been linked to Milan yet.. He could well be Cafu's successor.

Great signing Nonda is.....great but risky in that he's injury prone. Hopefully he'll adapt to the Italian league quickly.

The thought of good Roma players joining Chelsea and co is not appealing to me. Italian League is good for a reason. Its good to hear when Serie A players snub premiership teams. This is why the league is very strong because the clubs manage to keep their players in the league.

Serie A can be entertaining and can even get better. There more quality players in Serie A than in the premiership and besides mostly Serie A players are winning awards like Ballon Dor and so on. Which player in england has won awards at fifa except Henry???.....

Roma players are very loyal. They are more important than stupid cash a premiership team will throw in your face!!! We need the players right now. £10 mil for Cassano is an insult. He is one of the best young talents in Europe. Considering we payed £21 mil for him from Bari!!!

Ya, but in the same 'support' striker type position guys like Di Michele, Esposito, Miccoli were all more impressive overall. I'm not saying Cassano was playing 'Raul bad', but a change of scenery could help. I dont think Spalletti will be able to control Cassano's attitude at all. Hope Im wrong

With press talks I have read Spalletti seems like the coach that shows he trusts his players and is confident in them. I think thats exactly what Cassano needs a coach who can just say I beleive in what you can do and what you offer as a player.

I wouldn't be suprised if roma is fighting for CL this season or if they win uefa cup. They finally picked up a good replacment coach.

Did anyone see the Roma/Juve game today? We outclassed the buggers for the majority of the match. Spalletti has resurrected Roma :bouncy: Who cares if this is a friendly? If we play like this for the majority of the season we are 100% sure to be in the CL next year and who knows, with a bit of consistency and luck we could very well be in the running for the scudetto till the very end.

WE dominated most of the 1st half and put the 2nd strings in the second. Go ahead, be happy for a tie in a "friendly". (Y)

AS Roma coach Luciano Spalletti admits it's 'all systems go' after his club was given the all-clear to begin signing players again.
Roma had their transfer ban overturned this week and Spalletti wants to bring in players to cover every position: "I will speak with the club. In some roles we are very well covered, but in other positions we have the need for something extra.

"I want a balanced squad, otherwise we risk too much in a long season. Now that we have the possibility to arrange things, we must aim for balance."

this is bloody fantastic news. We now have a chance of coming in the top 4!!!! :bouncy:

I always knew that transfer ban was a bit hefty....We deserve to get it lifted.

Theres also news of a swap for Mancini With Miccoli from Juve. This may be good move. I'm not sure of Mancini this past season. It was a bit average.

Well you guys still got ripped off becuase of how long the ban lasted. Its going to be pretty though bringing in more players.

Also to anyone else that saw the highlights from the match, is it just me or did it look like DP dived in his penalty???

It was the situation where if Curci went for the ball he was gonna give away the PK, that wasn't a "juve" penalty, it was a any player in that position knew he coulda won the penalty so why not take it.

We'll see when the season starts, Roma will steamroll through your doped up team and not even the ref or the 12 Juve fans in attendance will be able to stop us.

Roma threaten rebel Cassano
Friday 12 August, 2005
The contract dispute between Antonio Cassano and Roma has reached a head as the club threatens to freeze him out if he doesn’t sign a renewal.

“We will only consider him to be a Roma player if he renews his deal,” warned director Rosella Sensi this afternoon. “Now we are waiting to know what his intentions are.”

The starlet’s current deal expires in June 2006 and he has been hesitant over accepting new terms. Yesterday Juventus patron Lapo Elkann let slip the reasons behind that approach – they wish to take him on a free transfer next summer.

“We have made an important offer to Cassano, even when we were locked down by FIFA’s transfer embargo, which proves how much we care for Antonio,” continued the daughter of President Franco Sensi.

“Now we are waiting for him to tell us if he has any intention of signing a new deal. We will only consider him to be a Roma player if he renews his contract. It is true our offer is different to the one we put on the table in February, but it remains competitive and in line with the kind of wages that, for example, Milan gave to Alberto Gilardino.”

There are reports that money is not the issue for Cassano, who has made it clear on a number of occasions that he wishes to be reunited with Fabio Capello in Turin.

Director General Luciano Moggi insisted Juventus had no plans to make a bid for the Italian international, but Elkann admitted the real strategy to journalists on Thursday. “We want to take Cassano on a free transfer, then we’ll keep him in check. Juve can win everything, but to do that they need Cassano.”

This brings the issue back to Roma patron Sensi, who sent out a veiled warning to the temperamental player.

“It is in his own interests to sign the contract so that he can play in a relaxed state of mind. If he is wracked with uncertainty over his future, then he won’t perform well on the pitch and that will hurt Roma. We have faith he will make the right decision.”

Juventus backer Lapo Elkann has let slip their intentions to sign AS Roma star Antonio Cassano to a pre-contract in January.
Cassano is inside the final year of his current deal and while Juve director general Luciano Moggi and coach Fabio Capello have denied their interest in the 22 year-old striker, Elkann revealed yesterday: "Cassano is a target and we want to sign him in 2006 for no fee.

"He is the perfect player for Juve."

On Cassano's discipline problems, He added: "We're confident we can bring him into line."

:read: sign the bloody contract!!!! :boohoo:
