the gold shirt is fabulous, but the home leaves a rather empty. the hazard orange on the side needs a white/black trim or something.

Now to restore my heterosexuality:

the verdict is definitely still out on the ball

whats up with all the coloured team balls. like the blue and yellow nike aero they used last year.

i wish it was mandatory to use the adidas CL ball. that ball is magic, especially this years blue model.

Reggina 0 - 3 Roma
Mancini 30 (Ro), De Rossi 46 (Ro), Nonda 92 (Ro)
Stadio Granillo

The new-look Roma ran riot in Reggio Calabria and Shabani Nonda scored on his debut, but Antonio Cassano has been well and truly frozen out.

The Giallorossi hoped to bury the disappointments of recent months and Reggina defeated them twice last season. Antonio Cassano was left on the bench as his contract dispute drags on, while Philippe Mexes and Olivier Dacourt did not even make the trip due to injury.

The Amaranto have made few real changes from last term, although one of their new signings - goalkeeper Ivan Pelizzioli - immediately came face to face with his former teammates.

There was controversy after five minutes, as Amantino Mancini's spectacular curling strike from the edge of the box was disallowed. The Brazilian was certainly not offside, but the offending moment might have been Christian Panucci's handling offence in the build-up.

Reggina were doing well with chances for Simone Cavalli and Giacomo Tedesco skimming the woodwork.

Vincenzo Montella wasted a good opportunity when his first touch let him down, but Mancini eventually did get his name on the scoresheet.

Gaetano De Rosa tried to walk the ball out of defence, but was intercepted by Rodrigo Taddei and - at the third attempt - Mancini was able to turn into an empty net following a flapped Pelizzoli save.

Montella wasted another glorious chance to hit the back of the net, springing the offside trap only to fire wide with only Pelizzoli to beat. Taddei also gathered Leandro Cufre's pass after a Francesco Totti dummy, but his shot was off target.

Tellingly, at half-time the Roma benchwarmers did some light training with the ball, but Cassano remained alone with arms folded. It's possible this will be his final match for the club.

Roma doubled their lead within seconds of the restart. Daniele De Rossi slid on to a wayward Totti free kick from six yards, but once again former Giallorossi goalkeeper Pelizzoli was at fault, allowing the ball to go between his legs.

Reggina faced an uphill struggle that only got worse after Carles Paredes was sent off for elbowing Simone Perrotta in the centre of the penalty area.

Nonetheless, Gianluca Curci was tested by a Tedesco piledriver and the Amaranto refused to give in.

Shabani Nonda was given his Serie A debut, replacing Montella for the final 15 minutes of the match. Cufre' fired Perrotta's pass wide from close range and Totti's goal was disallowed for an earlier Nonda foul.

Mancini also rattled the woodwork in stoppages, but Nonda made the final score 3-0 to Roma with a stylish finish on Totti's assist.

Reggina: Pelizzoli; Zoppetti (Biondini 70), De Rosa, Franceschini; Mesto, Paredes, Tedesco, Rigoni (Vigiani 49), Balestri; Cavalli (Modesto 80), Bianchi

Roma: Curci; Panucci, Kuffour, Chivu, Cufrè; De Rossi, Perrotta (Aquilani 89); Mancini, Totti, Taddei (Rosi 93); Montella (Nonda 74)

Ref: Rosetti

Sent off: Paredes 58 (Re)

great win, great start to the season. good to see nonda score on his season debut and mancini have a good game. this could have been a larger blowout if montella had finished some easy chances.

definitely satisfied

The Home and Orange kits are awesome. The white one just doesn't look right. In other words it's not that great. It looks lopsided. BTW nice win, that makes two 3-0 wins. (Inter vs. Treviso being the other...)

Mancini in Juve negotiations? Tuesday 30 August, 2005
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are reports that Amantino Mancini has been spotted in Juve’s offices to discuss a shock transfer that could send Adrian Mutu to Roma.

The Brazilian winger was seen in Milan this evening along with agent Gilmar Veloz and several Bianconeri directors, sparking reports that he is in negotiations with the Bianconeri.

Coach Fabio Capello has already brought his former Roma players Emerson and Jonathan Zebina to Turin and has also been linked with bids for Antonio Cassano and Olivier Dacourt.

While the Press has been concentrating on the fate of Cassano, it seems that Mancini could be the most likely to make the move up North.

The former Venezia midfielder had also been linked with Inter and Real Madrid, but it’s claimed he could be part of a massive swap deal with Juventus.

While Mancini, Dacourt and Cassano would go to the Stadio Delle Alpi, Adrian Mutu, Federico Balzaretti and Giorgio Chiellini are tipped for the opposite journey.

There are also rumours that Juve could sign David Di Michele from Udinese in order to hand him over to Roma for a reunion with ex-Friuli Coach Luciano Spalletti. A less costly option would be Mario Jimenez, who is currently at Serie B outfit Ternana.

“There are no negotiations with Juventus and we have not planned any meetings with them, not even for Cassano,” insisted Roma director of sport Daniele Prade’. “I did speak to Mancini and his agent, but only about family matters.”

Roma also released a statement officially denying that Mancini was on the market and assuring that, “He is a crucial member of the first team.”

Meanwhile, the Giallorossi are close to signing Brazilian goalkeeper Doni from Juventude, while Juventus have loaned Igor Tudor out to Siena. The Croatian international had spent half of last year at the club and returns after finding no space in Turin.

Siena are also on the verge of agreeing a two-year deal for Jonathan Bachini, who is out of contract with Brescia.

Bologna have officially sold Federico Giunti to Chievo. The midfielder has scored nine goals in 149 Serie A appearances with Parma, Milan and Brescia

dont believe it. we are thin on the wings as it is. selling mancini wouldnt make sense. guess we will find out in a bit though.

btw, what a bull**** deal. i would definitely expect some cash. according to rumours cassano was worth mutu, chiellini and money, so i would expect alot of money that juve would never give.
