At Last!! Scoring!!!!! Sussed!

I have finally sussed out the scoring system in PES6 ....

Whatever team you are playing press the shoot button when approaching the goal from the left hand side diagonally and you can be guaranteed to put the ball 10 feet over the net.

Whatever team you are playing press the shoot button when approaching the goal from the right hand side diagonally and you can be guaranteed to also put the ball 10 feet over the net.

Approach the goal straight on and press the shoot button and you can be guaranteed to put the ball at least 25 foot over the net.

HOWEVER .... if you have an open goal in front of you and are in the box quickly press the SHOOT button and you will guaranteed to put the ball at least 15 foot over the net.

If you have tried all of the above TRY AGAIN, because in time you WILL score a random and rare goal. Oh Yeah.

Does CONAMI make those golfing games that no one buys??? Maybe the programmer got his codes a bit mixed up. I mean shoot button / drive button could easily be mixed up.

There is a knack to scoring in this game but you tend to only score goals of the type the AI wants you to score or at a time in the match that the AI wants you to score.

If you just create space in front of goal and find yourself with just the keeper to beat, don't bother shooting as the probability of scoring is about 10%. Most shots either fly over the bar, go "just" past the post in "dramatic" fashion, or go straight to the keeper who either catches it or parries it and his parry turns out to be a perfect 80 yard through-ball to a cpu striker at the other end othe pitch. You can try to take it round the keeper but 9 times out of 10 he'll just karate kick your knees and the ref never awards penalties against the cpu for this. Basically, just pass the ball to a team-mate in this situation and try building a new passage of play until you create the "correct" scoring opportunity or wait until the "correct" time.

The best time to score is during the last 5 minutes of either half. The cpu is also more likely to script itself a goal then too, so beware, but the AI is scripted to permit far more shots to become goals during the dying minutes of either half. It makes it "exciting" and after all, this is what happens in "every" football match in the world, isn't it? Well, I assume it must be like this in Japanese football, which is all fixed anyway.

The other thing the game rewards is first time shots from long range, eg. play a pass across the pitch about 25 yards out to a guy who runs on to the ball and hits a first time shot. The game likes first time shots from passes. Not a guaranteed goal, but I score far more this way than from proper scriong opportunites in the box where you have time and space but the AI simply doesn't like you scoring in these situations.

Also, aim to get the bye-line about 12 yards from goal and press the through-ball button to play a pass back across the face of goal. If you have a striker in the vicinity, the ball will often go straight to him for an easy tap in, although it's advisable, if you have time, to simply walk the ball into the net rather than shooting to prevent the "balloon shot goes 25-yards over the bar from 1 yard out" syndrome that graces this realistic game.

Also, when in the box, the old favourite of turning 90 degrees to goal before turning to 45 degrees and shooting still results in a few goals.

So basically, aim for last minute goals, 25 yard first-timers, cut-backs using the through-ball and where possible, walk the ball into the net without pressing shoot. It's just like real life.

alw1969 have you tried using the finesse shot button R2, you pess this button when you shoot and it works very well indeed.

JJGadget is totally right.

I have read with much interest the subject of how to score on this web site and I have to say that it amazes me how many are struggling to score.

I play on top player level, and while it IS hard to score, I AM scoring regularly.

JJ uses the same method as myself and as he says, it works very well. I do,however, still balloon the ball over the bar sometimes but that's football, isn't it?

TAP shoot and R2 at the same time...you might be pleasantly surprised....

I have no trouble whatsoever scoring. It took me longer before I was able to move to 6 starsand master league default players on pes5 than on this pes6. I'm already doing leagues with 5000 points and master league default players because its easy to keep clean sheets and sneak a few goals.

Thanks Grumpy.....its fun and REALISTIC......... I too miss pleanty of shots over the bar or to the left or right.
For example take Charlton v Liverpool today(REAL football match), Liverpool won 3:0 but they had 20 shots on goal , very good and clear chances but only managed to hit the back of the net 3 times..........which in my humble opinion means that PES 6 is very realistic and Loads of fun to play and the shooting is very rewarding, thats why I always look forward to playing my next match

it's very exagerated , maybe you push the button too long or don't even know there is a power bar . you remind me of my father when we tried to play together , he never managed to shoot well .

The moral of this message is that if you want to enjoy PES, become more stupid. It really works!!

You just need to understand how the game works and use it to your advantage.

Hint : If you need a good shoot You MUST leave space between you and the ball . If you tried to shoot with the ball stick to your feet it will go off the bar .
