Even, I'll die for the club.

If that wasn't a huge exaggeration you really need to understand the concept of prioritizing. You'd die so people can play soccer for one particular club? That's not just a little ridiculous to you? It's just a game.

watched my first ever soccer game when I was 8... 1996 CL final Ajax and Juve. I decided to dislike Juve because they looked like zebras, so I cheered for Ajax and supported Ajax ever since!

One side of my family is from Salford and at some point I lived there aswell. Fell in love with United the first time I walked pass Old Trafford...I don't know, I can't come up with some long and sophisticated story about why and since when I support them.

My dad is the main influence...
I actually started to be a "Sporting" fan when Balakov scored a great goal against Benfica, an amazing lob. In the next week, my dad bought me a shirt. And the love started...

Was 10-years old ('95-ish) when I first saw a Porto game on TV (on Eurogoals to be exact). Atm I was starting to loose my interest in the game and even planned to stop playing football. It was that game, that the azul-e-brancos won, that got me back into it. Supported them ever since...

Interesting, I always wondered how you came to support Porto..

New England Revolution: Before any of youse accuse me of not supporting my local club, I do. The love affair started when MLS was formed and New England was announced as one of the franchise sites. Unfortunately, I've never been to a match in person (even though I live 30-45 minutes away from their stadium), but I've watched their matches on TV ever since they were formed just over a decade ago.

Yeah, I've got a soft-spot for the Revs myself. Pretty much started during the time when I briefly lived in Danbury, CT. I always watched their games on TV while I was in the area and got hooked on following their progress in MLS.

wow, sounds like you're over-compensating man. I wouldn't even die for my country, nevermind a soccer team.

My father is a moderate Benfica fan, but one of my older brothers is a Sporting fanatic, so it was him that influenciated me.
The exact moment I became "sportinguista" was in 1982, when we won Benfica 3-1 and basically won the league that year, with some games left.
I also vaguely remember a great game Sporting did that year in Sofia, where we draw 2-2 with CSKA; that's a game that also contributed.

Youth Team
My mothers' branch of family (the one which I'm closer to) is almost entirely made of Corinthianos. My father was born in Rio de Janeiro and is a Flamengo supporter, so he could not really have much influence...
But then there was that youngest aunt of mine, which somehow supported São Paulo (rebellious spirit, I guess?), and she brought me to the club. The funny thing is, most of my mother-branch cousins are São Paulinos too, due to the same reasons and regardless of how fanatic Corinthians supporters their parents are :lui: . With me it must have been easier, as I was converted with just 4 years old, and that was during the Bi-Mundial years :rockman: .

As for other countries, I am generally neutral except for Spain (I already though Barça to be cooler and somehow more spirited than Real Madrid like 10 years ago) and France (Olimpique Lyonnais, see quote below).

I started supporting Manchester United when Glazer took over. What a guy.

No, but seriously, I think I was 5 when I saw my first United match on TV, which means that it would have been 1993. I had no idea that they were a great team, I just knew that I liked watching them play and that I didn't really get to see many other teams play. I still don't know what channel I watched those games on, but thank goodness for them. I think I realiezd that they were a great team around the time I was 7 or 8, I noticed that they always seemed to do well. As I got a little older, I watched less but still caught the odd game, and eventually started watching a lot the season before they won the treble. I watched a lot of the treble season, and after that I haven't stopped watching and supporting.

always liked Germany since 98 world cup, realized my fav german players were mostly on bayern, saw a few of their CL games, fell in love.

I became a Real Madrid Fan after the World Cup 2002 and became a big fan of Ronaldo, so when he went to Real Madrid I liked them and will always be my favorite eropean team.

My on the side team is Hull City, I became a fan of them becuase of FIFA 2004, and that was the first FIFA with career modde, and I wanted to bring a team up from League 3 at the time, and promote them to Premiership and then win the Champions League. I just picked a random team and it was Hull City, so I decided to follow the, amd became a fan, I guess I mad a good choice they ended up getting back to back promotion, but unfortunately this year they are fighting to stay out of the relegation zone in championship.

If I had to choose, I'd die for my team sooner than my country. At least while Bush is around, that is. I got a Spanish passport so that I can move my ass to Spain in there's ever a draft.

But yeah, passion is one thing but if you're actually willing to die for your team then you are one of those hooligans that the world laughs at.
