Today, Australia ripped through England, complete domination of the match, no doubting that. Yet, it would be naive to take too much from this result.
a) It was a friendly
b) Was basically England (esp. first half) weren't really involved
c) A team almost the same struggled against Uruguay, yes that was over a year ago but, I still believe that Australia will struggle against teams from South America and continental Europe with tight marking and that don't give that much space. England prefer an attacking game, or a game not based on restricting the space of the opposition. I cannot see the Aussie players (perhaps besides Kewell) playing like they did today when there is not that much space. Imagine a heap of defenders on Viduka, Kewell with little to roam into and the midfield under constant pressure with tight opponents.
Hey, I could be wrong, this could be the kick-start the Socceroos need.
