Anyways there is also the foul against Chelsea when he was like 17 years old. I believe it was Del Horno who got red carded. Diving isn't always about falling without any contact, it also is diving when the player falls on minimal contact that wouldnt knock down a baby, or even when the player looks for contact and then dives like he did againt Del horno.

Anyways there are worse examples of divers than Messi. who in all fairness doesnt dive nearly as much as others (Iniesta, Alves, Ronaldo, etc...). Messi is smart about it and looks for even the minimal contact to drop.

My two cents about this. Messi is the best during the year and deserves it, but man you Barca fans need to get things straight. The importance of Messi to the team was not as important as Ronaldo was to Manchester United. How can Messi be the best by far and how can his team rely upon him when that same team has Iniesta (who you guys says should be 2nd) and Xavi who came third or Etoo who came 5th. You telling me a team that has the 2nd and 3rd best playes in teh world and the 4th best based on your opinions relies upon Messi solely.

Manchester struggled while Ronaldo was out and then came to life around teh time he came back and eneded up winning the league and going to the CL final. He does deserve the 2nd place IMO.

Messi does deserve the award cuz he is amazing, but one of the criteria for such awards should be the importance of a player to the team.

When Messi doesnt start or doesnt play, 90% of the time your team does not miss a beat.

So stop being arrogant by saying that Barca should have had the podium.

Please point out where anyone of us said anything like that.

Yes. And he deserves. Maybe it's a biased point but I still think Iniesta should be higher than CR.

On the Ujfalusi foul, that's never a dive man. Would you want him to continue to run and be tackled down? That's a foul everywhere on this world. Again, I say you chose the wrong video

And if you don't see a foul and a hard hit in that Del Horno foul, you definitely have a problem. OK, Messi runs into Del Horno, but what was he doing there? The difference was that Messi was running towards the ball and Del Horno was running in a completely other direction. He had nothing in common with the ball, he intentionaly went into Messi. I don't know how you can say that's a dive. The intentionaly hit, and the hit without the ball are one of the main problems for the referees in recent years. Both of those were in that Del Horno foul.

P.S: Hope you note the first foul on Messi in that video posted by Arnau Instead of going down he rised and continued t run for the ball. Sorrythat's another contraargument for you saying Messi is a diver or a cheater, or how the hell you call him....

I'd say it is very close, no one is in really better form than the other, ronaldo has better goals average but less goals and less assists...

So i'd say no way of telling until next year and see if one gets injured or slips up

It's a fact. He scored most of the goals against those teams. I.e. 2 against Zurich, 2 against Almeria, ...

I can admit that Messi hasn't been in his best form during this part of the season, but not that Ronaldo has done better than him.

He scored just one.

Dear God didn't want to join this stupid conversation but would like to point out... who exactly has messi scored against. Until last year he hadn't even scored against united in the umpteen time's we had played. The grand total being 1 or 2?.

I think there totals vs the big team's are roughly the same. Its plain obvious players of there calibre will destroy the lesser teams.

The fact is there very similar players. I think its great for a change that we have so many competing world class players. At the moment it all boils down to if they win the champions league... Kaka, Ronaldo and now Messi. Each cracking players in there own right.

For ronaldo he's such a hated player for his past antics I'm sure he would/could of won it more. But then Kaka and messi are loved not only by there teams but by other supports too.

Just look at this years votes which only enforces that statement. Kaka in the top spots but has done Carlos... the difference between him and other players? He's such a likeable guy.

Its as simple as that. Ronaldo only has his self to blame, but I'm sure neither Kaka, Ronaldo or Messi are as bothered about the awards as us fanatics, especially after winning it once.

And talking about fanatics... I think barca win there, Jesus your like the Duracell bunnies of supporters on this forum. Flooding everywhere you go with your propaganda, on and on... and on. pardon the pun

Nobody said Ronaldo is not e very good player. I personally like his FK shot. But I just said he is not a better player than Messi.
