A new rumor: The scouts were impressed by Thomas Kahlenberg (Denmark) at the U21 Euro. Apparently he's one of the stars of the tournament. He's left footed, can play as a central midifielder, left midfielder and supporting striker.
This week the club will try to reach an agreement over Podolski and van Buyten.

This is just in: Bayern are ready to offer €10M for Podolski in order to sign him up before the start of the World Cup. This should be enough for Cologne.

He will sign a four year contract worth €10M.

The club and Pizarro couldn't agree on a contract extension. Apparently they were unhappy with his season and could be looking to offload him to Hamburg.

I've just heard that Beckenbauer has been spotted with RVN's agent. Seems unlikely to me but hey thought i'd pass it on.

Beckenbauer is working as the head of the World Cup organising committee 24 hours a day, he hasn't got much to say on transfers, contracts etc. anymore.

Bayern raised their bid for Podolski to 10,5 million. It's just a matter of hours before he's ours. (6)

i really wish bayern management wasn't so cheap

we are one of the most profitable clubs in europe and don't wanna spend some money to get star players and let a star player (ballack) go out on free transfer

if you know you can't match other clubs offer, why wait till transfer runs out and let him walk out for free when you had the chance to deal him before and earn some cash? :kader:

Lukas Podolski confirms Bayern switch

Lukas Podolski's much-touted switch from relegated Cologne to champions Bayern was finally confirmed on Thursday after the clubs agreed on an undisclosed transfer fee. The free-scoring starlet will sign a four-year contract, keeping him in the Bavarian capital until 30 June 2010. The clubs denied a report in Sport Bild magazine naming the fee as €10 million.

"We're extremely pleased and happy to be bringing one of the most talented German internationals to FC Bayern, and we're convinced Lukas Podolski will prove a perfect fit to the future philosophy we have for this football club," chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge commented after signing the transfer papers on Thursday afternoon.

'Poldi' keen to play at highest level

"I'm delighted it's all worked out. I'm looking forward to Munich, the city and the club. Bayern are the undisputed number one, and I want to test myself against the best there is," the striker commented in Dusseldorf, where the Germany squad is preparing for a final World Cup run-out against Columbia.

The player and his new club have both hinted at an upcoming transfer in recent weeks. The 20-year-old was still under contract in Cologne until June 2008, but could have moved on for a fixed fee at the end of next season. "But I wouldn't have been OK with another season in the second division," the player remarked. Podolski joined Cologne as a youngster in 1995.

'Schweini' delighted at 'Poldi' decision

Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff expressed delight at the conclusion of the deal ahead of the World Cup. "Especially for a young player, it's important he knows where he's playing next term before a major tournament gets under way. Lukas will now be able to give the World Cup 100 percent focus."

Podolski's good friend Bastian Schweinsteiger said he was overjoyed at the day's developments. "I'm delighted he's decided to come. If such a powerful striker is going to move within the Bundesliga, he has to come to the best club. I hope after he arrives we have the same success we've had for the last two seasons, and maybe win one more trophy on top of that."

However, before the best mates go in search of goals for Munich, Poldi and Schweini will be giving it their best shot on the biggest footballing stage of them all. "If we exploit our abilities such as team spirit and resolve, we could go a long way," Schweinsteiger observed.
