Ze Roberto is 32, not 34, he will be 33 in july.....
Right, I was basing my assumption he was 34 on "Hendrik's" post in the previous page.

Hendrik;2339888 said:
Nope, not yet. Only under the condition that he immediately retires from the nt.

“We’ve agreed with Zé Roberto in principle on a two-year contract, but we still have to iron out a few small problems,” Hoeneß explained. The main area for clarification is whether the 34-year-old winger will continue to turn out for the Brazilian national team. “Our opinion is that it’s not good for a player who’s already a little older to be flying across the Atlantic five or six times a year,” the board director commented.

But still, hes 33 in 2 months. The same still applies, hes old now.

Right but there are some type of players that have their best seasons in their mid thirties. I guess the same applies for Ze, since he hit 30 he had a couple of nice seasons in Munich and was named Brazilian player of the year. I think he will be fine for 2 years even if he plays his NT. I actually think he would be playing in the level he has for at least 4 years.

Guys, I don't understand what u find in Miroslav Klose compaired to a worldclass player like Roy Makaay......:boohoo:

Personally, nothing. We should only get Klose when Makaay retires or if he gets completely out of form.

That's quite a dumb move by our board. It's nothing new, though.

Edit : I read that Zé Roberto has signed and has accepted to retire from international football. Can anyone confirm ? (Nevermind, Hendrik confirmed it in the transfer thread)

Yeh i'm kinda hoping we don't get Klose for another year..

Let's stop kidding ourselves. Sympathy aside, Klose is a better all-around striker than Makaay who's been on the downhill in the last two years. When Makaay doesn't score he's ueless to the team. Klose on the other hand still creates space for his teammates so that the whole team benefits from his style (29 assists in the past two seasons compared to Makaay's 11).

Getting him now is not that expensive either. We'll get 5M+ for Makaay and another 5M for Roque so that covers the transfer fee. The combined wages of the two are also in the region of Klose's. Don't forget that we wouldn't get Klose "on a free" next year either, the signing fee is rumored to be around 8 million.

Brazil career ended

Zé Roberto clears way for swift return

09.06.2007

“I’m keeping my mobile switched on while I’m on holiday,” Uli Hoeneß confirmed at the press conference unveiling Luca Toni and Franck Ribery on Thursday, as the Bayern general manager revealed he was expecting a message from Brazil. The call duly arrived at some point on Friday evening, as news filtered through of Zé Roberto’s announcement he is to retire from international football.

“I believe my time as a Brazil player has come to an end. It’s time to give younger players a chance,” the 32-year-old told reporters. The gifted winger thus quits the Selecao with 86 caps, after winning the Copa America (1997, 1999) and the Confederations Cup (1997, 2005) on two occasions apiece

Twelve month absence

The announcement means Zé Roberto has removed the last major barrier between himself and a return to Bayern, where he has made110 Bundesliga appearances to date. “We’ve agreed with Zé Roberto in principle on a two-year contract, but we still have to iron out a few small problems,” Hoeneß explained on Thursday. “Our opinion is that it’s not good for a player who’s already a little older to be flying across the Atlantic five or six times a year,” the board director commented.

Zé wore a red shirt from 2002 to 2006, but was unable to agree the conditions for a contract extension last summer. He is now poised to become the club’s seventh summer signing. The terms for a new deal have already been negotiated, with the document in question merely requiring the player’s signature at club headquarters.

Much-travelled Hoeneß

The final remaining issue is whether Miroslav Klose will arrive this summer, or on 1 July 2008 as already agreed between the parties. "We've made Werder Bremen a formal offer for Miro Klose, a generous offer too. The final decision is now entirely up to Werder," Hoeneß reported.

Bayern’s biggest-ever raid on the transfer market is thus approaching a conclusion. “We’ve spent a great deal of money this season. There was a real thrill of the chase by the end. I was in Florence, I was in Paris, I was everywhere,” Hoeneß remarked, “my wife hasn’t seen a lot of me in recent weeks.”

Bayern’s pulling power

Hoeneß expressed delight at the realisation that Munich remains a desirable destination for some of the world’s biggest names, despite a disappointing domestic season and failure to qualify for the Champions League. “I was always aware this poor season would give us a painful jolt, but it wouldn’t rock us to our foundations,” the director remarked. “In fact, we were actually turning down some big-name players by the end. People sat up and took notice. They saw what we’re creating here in Munich, and suddenly they all wanted to be part of it.”

With the board close to completing its part of the assignment, the focus now switches to coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, “to form a decent team from this collection of excellent individuals. On the balance of probability, I’d hazard a guess that this team will do better than finishing fourth,” Hoeneß concluded. Bayern President Franz Beckenbauer shares that opinion: “I believe we’ll have a good and competitive team.”

Our whole team has been on a downhill, not only Makaay. On the other hand, Bremen were getting better and better. It's obvious that Klose would perform better in a team with a midfield such as Bremen's.

Speaking of which, why don't we ever loan guys. Our teams overall performance got worse because once players start realizing that they're not playing for anything, they get complacent.

Make America Great Again
We loaned out Phillip Lahm for two years to Stuttgart and were desperate to have him back that second season if I remember correctly.

this could be a good idea.
there are players who have future but won't play very much in this team. i think the best example is fürstner. last season i remember some matches like against aachen. he could has played. bayern should loan out him and maybe hummels but we could wait one year more in his case. i think that ismaël and will leave. so next year we will need a defender for sure and he could have an option. he is in the first team but he isn't in the group of 4 defences. players like fürstner, hummels and kroos will stay next year in the first team but not into the 22 players. fürstner doesn't have very much future in this team if anything doesn't change. nothing has changed for him. only one thing: he will have more dificulties for play (altintop, zé...), we should loan him. ottl stayed the first year playing 8-9 matches. the second was starter in milan.

there is one thing that i don't understand: ottl who has been starter only has a deal until 2008 and fürstner until 2010. i hope bayern do a new deal for ottl(2008), lahm (2009), and schweini (2009). next year expires the deal of makaay, ismaël and kahn.

2008: kahn, ismaël, makaay, ottl
2009: van bommel, santa cruz, lahm, schweinsteiger, ¿zé?, hummels, lell
2010: van buyten, podolski, demichelis, lucio, schlaudraff, fürstner, altintop, sagnol, görlitz, rensing
2011: jansen, toni, ribéry, sosa

Meh, usually our young players are either good enough for the first team right from the beginning (Schweini, Owen etc.) or they get sold to some second division team and you never hear much much of them again.
There are very few exceptions like Lahm or Misimovic who turned out better than expected.

Hummels is 18 and wants to finish school first. Another year in our reserve team alongside Thomas Linke won't hurt him.
Ottl won't get much playing time here next season. Magath is a fan of him so I'd try to send him to Wolfsburg for a year or two.
I haven't seen much of Fürstner but he doesn't look like the talent of the decade either.

Kroos is a complete different case. He's rated among the top prospects of his age-group (Wenger called him the best U17 player in world football). Let's see how he adapts to the reserve team in the rough third division. He will train with the senior team from the next season on.

Totally agree there. I've seen him play a few times on TV and have gone to two Bayern training sessions where I watched him play with the 1st team. He was nothing special. To be honest, I thought I could step on the pitch and play at least as good as him. I'm not kidding either.

Kross is a badass though. That goal he scored into the far right corner for the German NT is pure class. I'm really excited about him. Having Wenger think highly of him is something special as well.

PS: I got a new signature. Not bad, ey? Gotta support the new fellas.:bob:

Nice sig, dude. (Y)

God, this Klose soap opera is annoying.

fcbayern.de: Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, are you pleased with the results achieved in the transfer market so far?

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge: "We're very, very satisfied, because we've brought off all the transfers we set out to complete. Six are done deals, and Zé Roberto should be the seventh. I'm assuming he'll come for his medical this week and then sign his contract. The last remaining question concerns Miroslav Klose, and that all depends on Bremen's final decision."

fcbayern.de: Bremen manager Klaus Allofs has today repeated that his club are including Miroslav in their plans for next season. What's more, Olympique Lyon appear to have joined the bidding for the player. Does that worry you?

Rummenigge: "No, I'm basically not interested whatsoever. I see it as a flexing of muscles in an effort to drive up the price. Miroslav Klose has stated his intention to join us on 1 July 2008 at the latest. It was an unmistakeable statement, and any talk about Lyon is just made up. We've seen through this little game and we won't be put off by it."

fcbayern.de: Does that mean Bayern are ruling out an increased offer to purchase Klose immediately?

Rummenigge: "We're not prepared to play poker. We've tabled our bid, and the situation today is that we're unwilling to change our offer. Practically all his team-mates and most of the fans have said they should sell him at once. But if the folk in Bremen believe they can continue to work with Miroslav next season, even given the circumstances, that's what they should do. It's something Werder Bremen have to evaluate. I must admit I find it all a trifle amusing."

fcbayern.de: Have Bayern set a deadline for a deal this summer?

Rummenigge: "No, we're taking a very relaxed approach. Why should we set a deadline? We're certain he'll be playing for us the season after next. He might play for us next season, but that entirely depends on Werder Bremen accepting our offer."

fcbayern.de: What would the arrival of Klose this summer mean in terms of departures?

Rummenigge: "Roque Santa Cruz has told us he would like to leave the club. We've informed him of the circumstances in which that could happen. We'll have to wait and see how it develops. Roy Makaay will be released if Miroslav Klose joins us straight away. That's what we've told his agent. And we'll send Julio Dos Santos out on loan for a season, which will give us a squad of 22 outfield players and two goalkeepers."

fcbayern.de: Leaving aside the potential fee for Klose, Bayern have spent more money than ever before this summer. Are you not slightly concerned at departing from your long-term policy of restraint?

Rummenigge: "We've always been extremely cautious in financial terms. Now we've been a little less cautious, but we've not been unreasonable. We're not playing a dangerous game. We continue to have our finances fully under control. Speaking on behalf of my fellow board directors, I can confirm we won't come under any financial pressure. We've recognised the need for a major rebuilding exercise, in order to deliver successful and attractive football next season."

fcbayern.de: Bayern are not in the Champions League, but the club has succeeded in signing genuine superstars Luca Toni and Franck Ribéry, which could be seen as a clear signal to your rivals.

Rummenigge: "Bayern continue to enjoy an extremely good reputation, even though we're not in the Champions League for once. That wasn't seen as a major handicap by any of the players we contacted. They all know they'll be well looked after if they come here. I also believe we've landed some players of exceptional character."

fcbayern.de: The transfer activity means there's growing pressure to succeed, which applies to coach Ottmar Hitzfeld as well.

Rummenigge: "We're no strangers to pressure. Obviously, it will be greater next season, but I'm totally convinced Ottmar Hitzfeld is exactly the right man for Bayern Munich in this situation. One of his major strengths is integrating new players, and when you've brought in seven or eight new faces, the integration process is obviously an important factor. But I have complete faith in Ottmar Hitzfeld and his coaching staff. It'll be a rapid and successful process."

fcbayern.de: The fans will look at a player such as Ribéry and expect a few moments of magic at the Allianz Arena next term.

Rummenigge: "We all know how it is: at the end of the day, winning matches is what counts. Obviously, we wouldn't have anything against achieving that and playing attractive football too. Whatever, I'm already curious about next season, and I'm hoping for a successful campaign."

I guess there's asolutely no room for schweinsteiger in your starting 11 now? that's the best thing to happen to your club since lothar mathäus.

Okay, forget about that. Apparently he will earn just as much as Toni, €10M a year pretax. :|

Klose's agent told Hoeness Barcelona would offer him a net salary of €4M a year to which Uli replied "so what, then we give him 5 million".

I actually think that Alou Diarra would be a great transfer for bayern. I wouldn't really feel safe with van bommel and ze roberto playin front of the defense, I rate ze roberto highly, but van bommel, although being a decent player doesn't look comfortable in the center, he hardly has defensive skills, judging from what I've seen of him.
