Makaay and Pizarro are being linked with Hamburg. After giving them Trochowski for basically nothing, sold Guerrero for little money and bought van Buyten for friggin 11 million (which they used to buy Kompany) our secret mission to awake a sleeping giant would have finally been accomplished.

Well so much to make the Bundesliga competitive, and you guys b!tching about being the only team who spends i think it is a little harsh to say that mate.
I would have been happy if i was you. Look at the best campionships: Italy has Milan, Inter & Juve that spend. In Spain Barcelona & Real Madrid, in England, Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool and Arsenal so if there is a second other than Bayern in Germany wouldn't hurt.

Werder Bremen would have deservedly knocked Juventus out of the Champions League last year if their keeper didn't make that mistake. Werder Bremen are already a big challenge, it's not fun to go from perennial winners to third place.

If he was a few years younger I would ask that myself, too.
Guaranteed first team football, trophies on national level, no language barrier and closer to his home country.

In a classical diamond system either dos Santos or Santa Cruz with Scholl getting limited minutes. Both have shown flashes playing that position.
If this doesn't pan out I'd try the Ruud-Makaay partnership with Podolski in his favorite role behind them.

They can spend as much money as they want and acquire good players, fine. In my opinion it's too risky to give them three players within a year that will vastly improve a team that finished third last year and beat us twice. You don't see Chelsea selling Essien, Duff, Robben etc. to ManU either.

They bought Diego from Porto, I'm sure he will blossom there when he can finally play his natural position.

It's not like Pizarro and Makaay for instance, they are better as a duo in front.
So it would be wise to either select Roy or Ruud but both..ah well you never know.

Wasn't that in the 4-3-3 formation? I'd try it, maybe it would work if they got to know each other better.

It's not like Pizarro and Makaay for instance, they are better as a duo in front.

That duo sucks ass up front. Pizarro is in midfield most of the time, Makaay also prefers to play a bit deeper or on the wings. Ruud would be another type of striker, more like a classical target man.

It says that Beckenbayer is ready to fill the difference by adding eather Makaay or Pizarro to the 16 mil offer. That would be plain dumb. I am sure Makaay would be a great addition to the red devils.

To be fair, that's exactly the 15 million pounds they have wanted since day one.

Ruud is not that much of an improvement over Makaay on the pitch but he's the kind of superstar we've been after for years. Him and Podolski should close the gap in terms of merchandising with Ballack's departure.

I can't wait to hear the "Ruud" chants at the Arena.
