Ronaldo and Adriano are too good to be similar, don't worry about Adriano's right, its good enough, compared to his left (best foot in football today) its not that great.

Ronaldo and Adriano... I don't know, but I guess it won't work.... the two are too similar... I'd rather see Ronaldo + Robinho, or even better, Adriano + Robinho (though I guess we have to be lucky for this combo to work... Adriano can't shoot with his right, and Robinho can't shoot at all...)

Ah come on. The days where Robinho couldnt finish for his life are gone since long. On his comeback he played 4 and scored 2 already, not to mention the assists. He's top scorer for Santos this season, so i guess he can grab a few.

He's not the "matador" type, but he can shoot.

I think Adriano and Ronaldo HAS to work. Thats what I predict will be in the 06 WC. I just think Adriano could learn how to be a better passer. But R9 A10 give R10 and K8 a lot of room to run around, which is sweet!

Ze Roberto is AWESOME! I dont know how he plays for bayern, but for Brasil he's SOLID.

It's kind of a dilemma. I mean, having Robinho on the bench would be stupid, but Ronaldo is the type of guy that steps up for it, and he cant be benched at a World Cup. Then we have Adriano who has been delivering in the past cup competitions like no-one else, so i dont know.

It would be great to have the 3 together playing, but that's utopia, plus in terms of defense we would be screwed. Too many people that know what to do with the ball on their feet, and too little that know what to do when it isnt on their feet.

What about

------Emerson---------
-Kaka--Dinho---Robinho-
---Ronaldo--Adriano-----

Emerson would be crazy trying to stop all the attackers. :D

Fell asleep during the match, but it seems Ronaldo + Adriano didn't work... Ronaldo had some chances, Adriano missed a sitter... but I still think they shouldn't be playing together... yeah, tough on Adriano, he does deserve to be a starter, but as long as Ronaldo is playing, I can't see that happening...

As for Robinho, yeah, he's been working on his finishing, but you just can't compare his finishing with the other strikers we have... he'll score goals in Brazilian league because our defenders don't close down enough, and I guess he'll still score some for Madrid, but in a world cup it can be different... much like the confed cup, and that wasn't even half serious...

Robinho still has some Months to adapt to European Soccer, now that he is in Real Madrid
he will have more experience to face the world cup and maybe start in some games :)

the game was pretty sh*t, Kaka did pretty well from what i saw, didnt watch much tho, because the Croatian commentators were ridiculous in this game. there was one action where a Croatian defender stopped Kaka from a counter, and they were saying that Kaka cant pass their defenders like that, excellent stop, Kaka has to try harder etc, then in the next action, Kaka in the same situation, on his own half, same defender against him, tricks him, leaves the guy far behind, and they go like "Well, Kaka is a world class player after all...". When they scored, i thought one of them lost his mind, then every pass after that goal was "superb, excellent, we're watching European Brazil here", thank god Ricardinho scored that beatiful free-kick, it shut them up for a few minutes :).
second half, a lot of subs, got even more boring.
and there were freaking huge fireworks after the game, like it was a World Cup final or something.

Robinho stood out against the other Brazilians. he made an excellent performance, assisting both Ronie and Adriano to goal opportunities. Adriano blew open goal.

what was Dida thinking?!?!? horrible mistake. :nape:

He was decent in the Confed. Cup, plus he scored 2 goals not to mention the assists. But yea, his finishing aint a patch in comparison to Adriano's or Ronaldo's. I bet my arse he would've scored if he had the chances Ronaldo/Adriano splashed.

It was good game by both sides. Brasilian players showed their skill and magic, and we showed ours. Croatia has a good team and can get a good result against any team in the world. European Brazil equals the original one.

Only bad thing is Olic s injury, it looks very serious. But i hope he will recover soon.

And u DRVAR shut up BITC*H cause The Storm "Oluja" can catch you even if u are hiding in a decent county like Slovenia! It is a shame that they let you in!

what the f*ck are you bringing this sh*t up? i posted a comment on the game, i thought it was sh*t, and thought your commentators were overly nationalistic, and you just showed me that the commentators arent the only ones being like that. no wonder we cant get along. i would reply to you in croatian, but all i know is alot of insults...

Brazil name unchanged squad for Chile qualifier

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 18 (Reuters) - World champions Brazil have named an unchanged squad for next month's World Cup qualifier at home to Chile when they hope to book their place in Germany.

Coach Carlos Alberto Parreira named the same 22 players who travelled to Split for Wednesday's 1-1 friendly international draw away to Croatia, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) said on their official website.

Parreira said he hoped his strike pair of Ronaldo and Adriano would be in better shape for the game.

"Ronaldo and Adriano didn't have the rhythm they needed," he told the Estado news agency.

"I hope the pair will be in better physical shape and with more motivation."

Ronaldinho and defender Roque Junior are suspended after picking up second yellow cards in the 3-1 defeat by Argentina in June.

Brazil, the only team to have played at every World Cup tournament, will keep their unique record intact if they beat Chile in Brasilia on September 4.

Even if they do not win, they still have games away to Bolivia and at home to Venezuela to book their place.

Brazil are second in the 10-nation South American group with 27 points from 15 games, four points behind Argentina who have already qualified.

The top four teams go straight to the finals in Germany and the fifth-placed side plays off against Australia or the Solomon Islands for another berth.

Brazil have already booked a friendly away to the United Arab Emirates on November 12, the day when one leg of the playoff is due to take place.

The CBF said the same squad, minus Santos midfielder Ricardinho, would also travel to Spain to face Sevilla in a friendly on September 6 as part of the Spanish club's centenary celebrations.

Squad:

Goalkeepers: Dida (AC Milan), Julio Cesar (Inter Milan)

Defenders: Cafu (AC Milan), Cicinho (Sao Paulo), Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid), Gustavo Nery (Corinthians), Alex (PSV Eindhoven), Luisao (Benfica), Juan (Bayer Leverkusen), Lucio (Bayern Munich)

Midfielders: Renato (Sevilla), Emerson (Juventus), Gilberto Silva (Arsenal), Juninho Pernambucano (Olympique Lyon), Ze Roberto (Bayern Munich), Kaka (AC Milan), Julio Baptista (Real Madrid), Ricardinho (Santos)

Forwards: Robinho (Santos), Ronaldo (Real Madrid), Ricardo Oliveira (Real Betis), Adriano (Inter Milan).

I think Brasil will win this one with ease. They'll qualify in this game. Brasil's problem has been that they have a good game-bad game cycle going. they had their bad game against croatia, now its time to have a good game at home. No worries I dont think.

PS: I cant keep up with all the eastern european hate that goes around, so if you guys could keep it off this thread it would be nice.

the reserves played the main team and the main team won only 1-0. Brasil is preparing defensively, and relying on individual talent to beat chile in the qualifiers

The main team is
Dida,
R Carlos, Cafu, Juan (replacing rj :rockman: ) and Lucio
Emerson, Kaka, Robinho, Ze Roberto
Ronaldo Adriano
