British Comedy vs. American Comedy (and any other nations who fancy a fight)

British comedy overrules just slightly with John Cleese as main reason behind that(Monty Python and Fawlty Towers). Though I like The Fresh Prince of Bell-Air and The Nanny aswell(sorry :( )

It's a crime even to compare American to British comedy. British is so much better. Fawlty Towers and Black Adder being my favourites, just behind that Monty Python, but also Keeping up Appearances, Allo Allo and the Thin Blue Line.

Yeah but some (uneducated) people still think of Britain as the stereotypical Posh upper class snobs, so they can't possibly have a sense of humour.

But yeah in my opinion British Comedy is alot better than American

Problem with Peter Kay is his lack of material. Hence, his two DVDs are pretty much identical. And then that stuff leaks into Phoenix Nights. And Max and Paddy.

well thats the problem if you make jokes like a social commentator. E.g. Peter Kay takes the piss out of Britain, so.. its a bit of a one trick pony, if a funny one :P

Peter Kay's like most northern comics. They poke fun at northern things. Usually relating to childhood and other tedious events.

Ross Noble's the exception, obviously. He just waffles.

But yeah, Gato Fedorento is better than anything being made nowadays. If they did it in english they'd be kings by now. :sun:

Ross Noble is awesome, the way he just rambles from one thing to another is hilarious.

This thread feels like God jerking off.

I swear, you ******* limeys, man. What's with your perpetual and never-ending hard-on for American culture and always wanting to do comparative studies between the two countries? You ain't gonna get your colonies back.

We know you Brits are wonderful at your theatres and situational comedies, so why club us over the head with examples of how ******* wicked you are, huh?

Yes, and I'm addicted to Mad About Alice and Coronation Street....they're absolute cess....errr....genius!

On a serious note, I can't get enough of that wicked awesome sitcom "Peep Show"......I just finished viewing season 2 and will be moving on to three very shortly....honestly, one of the best shows I've come across in a long while.

Peep Show is fecking awesome, but im not a British fan boy, theres been some wank to come out of the UK too.

Little Britain is quite possibly the worst show ever made.

Oh and Coronation Street is terrible.
