the sales tax is Federal 7% and provincal they are different per province.

we get medicare and other benefits so it all makes up for it. and the American dollar just keeps dropping in value.

exchange rate was US$1 = CA$1.35 around half a year ago... now US$1 = CA$1.19.....

i still strongly disagree with this one:kader:

why is it that you disagree with same-sex marriage, just wondering?

I think a lot of people let their opinions on homosexuality get in the way of seeing the big picture. I personally don't feel the whole same-sex marriage issue is even about agreeing or disagreeing with the gay lifestyle, but rather it's an issue of civil liberty and equality. I think a country that truly gives equal rights to all it's citizens should be admired, and I'm glad Canada's one of them...

Yeah seriously, why should other (hetero) people care whether gays and lesbians want to get married or not......who gives a rats ass?!

A century or two ago, there were a lot of people in the US worrying about giving women (and even BLACKS) the right to vote......this is the exact same sh!t.

I think same-sex couples should be able to recieve the same benefits that a heterosexual married couple would receive. My problem is with calling it a "marriage". Call it a civil union and I'll be fine with it. I know that sounds silly but marriage has, for thousands of years of world history, been a union between a man and a woman. Gay couples should be allowed to have a similar union but I just don't see how you can call that a marriage.

I don't care if someone wants to marry their dog, why should I care and how does it involve me?

well the unity of marriage is said to be between a man and woman.any other way should just be common-law or civil union like that one member said.....procreation is a part of marriage and although not all couples do it, they have a choice, gays can't procreate.....if they love eachother, sure, live together, sure....just don't call it a marriage, that's my reason for it

Canada is a pretty sh!ty place to live. our government is f*cked, they are a bunch of theifs. all of our money get taken away so they can keep it all themselves and then build a road here and there. im gonna be moving to the states pretty soon, within a few years for sure.

How can you say Canada is a bunch of thieves? You should see what's happening in most other countries, plus at least in Canada we have the least violence, unlike in US where having a gun is like legal and very easy to get. Safe society? Plus our healthcare is far better than American. ;)
