Sighs!! For some reason my career screwed up, it always happens to me for some reason, but that doesn't really matter.

I have started a new career, and for the first time ever, I am playing on WC!!

CAREER UPDATE:

NOTE - This career is played on World Class difficulty and 6 Minute Halves!!

PRE-SEASON 2004 - 2005
Starting the first year in his managerial career, Gian-Luca Italiano, an Italian 43-year old, is looking for a position as manager for a football club. After many weeks of careful thinking, he has decided to accept an offer from Glasgow Rangers FC.

SEASON 2004 - 2005
After signing a one-year contract with Rangers, Italiano set about organising and improving the squad. But before finalising the line-up, Italiano first made several transfers, which can be seen below.

OUT : Waterreus (GK - To Celtic FC), McGregor (GK - To Celtic FC), Thompson (ST - To Norwich), Vignal (LB - To Parma)
IN : Roussel (Standard de Liege - 77), Taylor (Birmingham - 81), Poborsky (AC Sparta Prague - 85)

Having made so many satisfactory transfers so early in the season, Mr. Italiano has arranged and finally released official information regarding Rangers FC's line-up, and the information can be seen below.

Formation : 4-3-1-2
Mentality : Attack
Style of Play : Posession

Starting 11 :

------------ Prso ------ P'sky ----------
----------------- Skara ------------------
---- Loven' ----- Rae ----- Mlade'-----
Malcolm --- K'vili ---- Kyr'kos --- Taylor
------------------- Klos ----------------

Subs : Andrews, Ferguson, Novo, Arveladze, Burke
Reserves : Ball, Hutton, Ross, Rae, Namouchi, Buffel, Roussel, Ricksen, Djordjic

And now it is time for the first game of the season, the always classic derby match between Celtic and Rangers. As usual, the game was highly exciting. Dado Prso scored first, his header from the throw-in coming inside the post to score. But just before half-time, Shaun Maloney was unstoppable, as his superb strike levelled the two teams. The teams looked set for a draw, but when Dado Prso was brought down in the box, Anton Skara(created player) had no trouble with the penalty. Rangers won the match 1-2.

-That's it for now, guys!! I'm so happy that I won my first game on WC!!

Thanks mates!!

CAREER UPDATE:

After an amazing win over their arch-rivals Celtic, Rangers were very confident going into the home match against Dundee United. The teams were very evenly-matched, but one team had to win. One of DU's top players, Dodds, scored a great first goal. But in the second-half, Anton Skara finally scored after some brilliant efforts earlier on. Then not long after, Karel Poborsky managed to sneak one past the keeper for a 2-1 home win for Glasgow Rangers FC.

Having played and won their first two matches, an eager Rangers squad next went to Aberdeen. Due to Italiano's poor decision in putting on all of the reserves, Aberdeen proved too tough a match for Rangers. Both Mackie and Whelan scored a goal each, and while Skara did score, it was a mere consolation goal, as Aberdeen won the match 2-1.

In the match against Hearts, manager Italiano wisely put in the starters. Despite this, however, Rangers succumbed to Hearts, as Hearts proved too strong scoring 4 goals, one each from Wyness and Stamp and two goals from Miller, while Rangers didn't score any goals at all. Rangers lost 0-4.

Rangers currently have a league record of 2-0-2, and they are in 7th place in the league, behind 6th placed Celtic on goal-difference. With a job security of only 30%, Gian-Luca Italiano and the Rangers squad will have to get their act together if they are to have any chance of winning this season's SPL Title.

Rangers were much more focused in the away game versus Hibernian, as Arveladze got a hattrick in the first half. Hibernian were quick to respond in the second half, with Garry McConnor grabbing two for his team. But then Arveladze added another two goals to his hattrick, and Taylor topped it off with a goal of his own. Rangers won the 2-6.

- I am quite pleased with these results!!

@Surfy: Is Madden 2005 worth buying mate?? Is the owner mode good??

Nice job everyone! SuRfy, good luck, next game will be stressful!

Career update.

Finally, CS Maritomo finished 3rd, two points behind Benfica. In my las 5 games, I won two, lost two (against Porto 1-3 and Benfica 0-1) and drew the last one agains Belenses (4th place).

At least, I had my revenge against Benfica in the final of the Portuguese Cup (2-0).

Board was quite pleased.

I didn't have any meaningful offer though : not any team in the Premier league, and those from first division (Germany and France) were from team who played in the second division last season. So I decided to stay with Maritimo for another year. My keeper retired, and is replaced is not quite as good. Maybe I'll have to find a good keeper in the january window.

At least I have a shot at the ECC Cup. In the Qualifying round, I'm pitted against Stuttgart. Won the home game 1-0. It's not a comfortable lead for the away game. I already have a busy schedule, having 4 games in two weeks (2 ECC games and 2 league game, including one against Porto).

Would someone explain me how EFA works, cause I see a number of games on my schedule, but I'm not playing any of them. In fact, all games have a TBD opponents... how these are determined? Since I finished 3rd last season, I'm not qualified for EFA, right?

Just won my first league game against Porto 3-2, and the second leg of the ECC Qualifying Round against Stuttgart 3-0. :)

My left striker, Manduca, scored 3 goals in these two games. His rating is only 56, but I use him cause is preferred foot is left and these players are relatively rare.

I'll be playing against Viking, Dep. La Coruna and Roma (Group 1) in round 1 of ECC. I'm pretty lucky I guess, my group is not the stronger. Group 2 includes Juventus, PSV and Man. Utd; Group 3, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Aston Villa.

Nice everyone!! Surfy, what formation do you use?? I find that a 4-4-2, 4-3-1-2 work best for me, but 3-6-1 is also excellent, but the first two give me a strong defense...

CAREER UPDATE:

The match against Kilmarnock was hard for Glasgow Rangers, but thanks to goals from strikers Dado Prso and Karel Poborsky, Rangers managed to secure a satisfying 2-1 win over Kilmarnock, with Kilmarnock's goal coming from Wales.

Then Rangers played their away match against Dundee United's arch-rivals Dundee. The match was suprisingly easy for Rangers, as Prso, Mladenovic, and Skara all grabbed a goal each, to win 0-3 away from home, to the great joy of Dundee's rivals Dundee United.

After 7 matches, Rangers lie in 3rd position with a record of 5-0-2. They are one point behind Celtic, but Celtic have played one game more that Rangers. The league leaders are Hearts, who have played as many games as Glasgow Rangers, but are unbeaten and 2 points ahead.

Next Rangers played Motherwell, and won the match 2-0. Skar scored the penalty after he was brought down in the box, while Poborsky scored an easy goal too. The win enabled Rangers to take second place, one point ahead of Hearts. In first place are Celtic, still one point ahead but with one game more, so if Rangers win the next few games they are sure to take the lead for the SPL Title.

Rangers had their first draw this season, a 0-0 final scoreline versus Inverness CT, meaning that Rangers again drop to third place in the league.

Then Rangers had a tough match with Livingston, even though Rangers won the game 4-1. With Librra scoring for Livingston, Poborsky got his third goal of the season, while Dado Prso obtained an awesome hattrick.

Having won the next match versus Dunfermline 0-1 away, Italiano and Rangers found themselves 1/3 of the way through the season, as there are twelve teams, with each time playing every other team thrice. Rangers are finally in first place, on 25 points with a record of 8-1-2.

Now it's time for the second always-exciting derby between Rangers and Celtic, this time Rangers playing host to Celtic. It was a high-scoring game, with Rangers up 3-1 by half-time. In the second-half, Skara got another goal to complete his hattrick, Shaun Maloney got one back for Celtic, but then in stoppage time, Prso and Lovenkrands both scored to end the game 6-2, one of Rangers's best wins against Celtic.

Then Rangers suffered an embarrasing defeat at the hands of Dundee United, losing shamefully 3-0, with the goals coming from Dodds, Brebner, and Archibald.

Rangers then got revenge when they beat Aberdeen 3-0 at home, with the goals coming from Rae, Mladenovic, and striker Poborsky. After this win Rangers are still in 1st place in the league.

Then Rangers got their revenge against Hearts, defeating them 0-1 away from home, with a superb goal from central defender Khizanishvili.

Next Rangers played against a very determined Hibernian squad. There were few chances throughout the whole game, and neither team managed to take the initiative to win, and therefore the match ended all square with a final scoreline of 0-0. This draw caused Rangers to drop to second place.

Rangers then played away versus Kilmarnock, and had an easy game. Boyd and Leven both scored for the home side, but Rangers managed to score five consecutive goals in the match, coming from Prso, Lovenkrands, Skara, Poborsky, and Mladenovic.

Having played 17 matches so far this season, it is now January and the transfer window is currently open. Mr. Italiano received some tempting offers, including Kleberson from Manchester United, but the fee asked was too high for Italiano's liking. In the end Rangers manager Italiano did settle on a few transfers, which can be seen below.

OUT : Ross (RB - to Liebherr GAK), Buffel (CAM - to Saint Etienne)
IN : Mendieta (Middlesbrough - 81)

Having completed these transfers the squad again needed to be re-organised. All the squad information, including tactics, can be seen below.

Formation : 4-3-1-2
Mentality : Attack
Style of Play : Possession

Starting 11 :

----------- Prso ----- P'sky ------------
-------------- Skara -------------------
---- Loven' --- Rae ---- Men'eta -----
Malcolm -- K'vili -- Kyr'kos --- Taylor
------------------ Klos ----------------

Subs : Andrews, Ferguson, Arveladze, Burke, Novo
Reserves : Ball, Hutton, Ricksen, Namouchi, Roussel, Djordjic, Rae

Now it is time for Rangers's next game, as they play host to Dundee. Poborsky scored, but Dundee quickly retaliated, and Lovell equalised. Mendieta was a bit shaky at the start, but he soon settled in, and in the 74th minute, Mendieta scored his first goal for Rangers in his debut game. Rangers won 2-1.

Rangers lost away from home to Motherwell 2-1, with McBride scoring two goals for Motherwell, and Dado Prso obtaining a consolation goal for Rangers.

Then Rangers beat Inverness CT 2-0 at home in Glasgow, thanks to single goals from both central defender Khizanishvili, and CAM Anton Skara.

Next Rangers thrashed Livingston 0-2 away at home, with the goals coming from Anton Skara, and right striker and Rangers captain Karel Poborsky. After that they beat Dumferline 2-0, this time with goals from left and right wingers Lovenkrands and Mendieta.

The SPL season is now two thirds underway, and Rangers are in 2nd place, on 50 points with a record of 16-2-4, and they are on equal points with Celtic, who have already played one game more, while Hearts are well behind the two Glasgow teams.

Hehe, here's my next update...

CAREER UPDATE:

Again Rangers beat Dumferline, again with a score of 0-2, but this time with both goals coming from striker Dado Prso. Then they absolutely crushed Livingston 4-0, with a hattrick from Dado Prso and Skara managing to grab a goal for himself.

But then Inverness CT forced Rangers to a 1-1 draw, with Mc Mullan scoring the early goal. The home side looked set to win, but fortunately, reserve midefielder Mladenovic got a goal to equalise late on. Then Rangers 'killed' Motherwell 5-1, with a hattrick from Mendieta, and a goal each from the young Croation Anton Skara and Dado Prso.

Now it's time for Rangers's first cup match this season, the quater-finals of the Scottish Cup, away versus Livingston. Rangers simply could not break Livingston's strong defense, and just before half-time, Lilley scored for the home side. But early into the next half, Mendieta equalised. Extra-time looked ready to jump in, but in stoppage time, Mendieta scored an amazing goal to secure Rangers a spot in the semi-finals.

Then Rangers defeated Dundee away from home, with a goal each from Prso, Skara and Poborsky to make a final score of 0-3 in Rangers's favour.

Rangers's next opponent was Kilmarnock. They had an easy win, with two goals from Mendieta, and Lovenkrands and Dado Prso grabbing a goal each.

Now Rangers face Hearts in the Scottish Cup semi-finals. Pereira scored on the half-hour mark, but early in the second-half, Prso equalised. The match went to extra-time, and Prso scored the winning goal, giving Rangers a spot in the final against their rivals Celtic.

Then Rangers lost a tough game versus Hibernian, with McConnor grabbing a hattrick for his club, and Prso and Skara getting a goal each for a score of 3-2. Next they beat Hearts with two from Poborsky and one from Skara to win the game 3-0 at home.

Facing Aberdeen, Rangers had a goal-less draw with the determined Aberdeen team. Next Rangers beat Dundee United in a high-scoring 6-4, with a hattrick from Lovenkrands.

Now for the last match of the SPL season, the derby between Celtic and Rangers, and the winner of the match is the team that wins the title. It was a close game, but Poborsky's hattrick secured for Rangers the SPL Title.

Ranger's last game, the final of the Scottish Cup against Celtic. There was only one goal, coming from Gaizka Mendieta to win the Scottish FA Cup for Rangers.

Season Summary : It has been an excellent first season for Gian-Luca Italiano. He secured for Rangers both the SPL and Scottish Cup. For his efforts he was awarded half-a-star as a manager. The top performances came from GK Stefan Klos, with 17 clean sheets and 10 MOM's, and striker Dado Prso with 20 goals. The Board of Directors were pleased with the results, and offered an extension to Italiano's contract, to which he happily agreed, to the joy of the Glasgow club. At the end of the season, Rangers veteran Rae retired, and he was replaced by S. Wyness, a young players from the youth teams.

Season 7 update

My third with Manchester United...I'm at midseason...in the January transfer window, I decided that I would finally give up on the young striker from Ajax that I bought in my first year...Mitea was a 77 when I bought him as a 20 year old...but he never got any better, despite about 20 appearances a year and five goals in his ManU career. Sold him...couldn't get any other bid than Arsenal...for about 17,000.

Went out on the transfer market with 37,000 points looking for another striker...RVN is ageing...still scoring big time, but he needs regular rest...I found Louis Fabiano of Porto who's about a 90 at this point...but he turned me down (I'm a 2-and-a-half star manager at the mo.) so I went the replacement route. I found Vieri's replacement at Inter...got him for about 29,000. He was an 83 at 21 years old. He scored a goal in each of his first two appearances for me...he's now up to an 84.

No domestic silverware for ManU for the second year in a row. Lost in the quarterfinals of the League Cup to Newscastle...then on PKs to Stoke City in the fifth round of the FA Cup. Oh well...I'm still going in the ECC with Anderlecht coming up in the first round of playdowns. I won the group stage with six wins over Grazer AK, Auxerre, and Inter...outscoring them 18-3! Currently lie fourth in the Premiership, five points behind Liverpool. Arsenal and Newcastle are between me and Liverpool...with my second games coming up against them in a couple of weeks...should be exciting.

Stussy...I've been there...I feel your pain. Hang in...let us know how it goes. I made a miraculous recovery, I know you can too!

Cheers to everybody!

Good job guys!! Dipstikz, you can tell a replacement because he looks similar to predecessor, and has a name from the same nationality..

CAREER UPDATE:

PRE-SEASON 2005 - 2006
Early into the pre-season, manager Italiano sold the Belgian striker Roussel to Reading FC, a team in the Championship Division in England. The striker had failed to perform in all the games that he played, resulting in his being sold to Reading.

SEASON 2005 - 2006
After a successful season using the 4-3-1-2 formation, Gian-Luca Italiano decided to give another formation a go. He ended up choosing the 3-6-1 formation, a formation that the team had never before used, but Italiano was confident in their ability.

Before finalising the official line-up, Italiano wanted to buy at least one new player for the squad. After much thinking and negotiating, he made several transfers, which can be seen below.

OUT : Klos (GK-To FC Nurnberg-88), Andrews (CB-To Vasco de Gama-78)
IN : Kim Y. G. (GK-Chunnam Dragons - 75), Manuel Pablo (RB-Deportivo La Coruna-82)

Having completed these negotiations and transfers, the line-up was finally decided. Shown below is the information regarding the squad, and also team tactics such as kick-takers, mentality, and also the chosen captain.

Formation : 3-6-1
Mentality : Attack
Style of Play : Wings
Defense : Contain
Offside Trap : Off

Starting 11 :

--------------- Skara ---------------
---------- Prso ------ P'sky ----------
L'krands ---------------------- Men'eta
--------- Taylor ------ Rae ----------
---- Malcolm --- K'vili --- M. Pablo -----
------------- Kim Y. G. --------------

Subs : Kyrgiakos, Ferguson, Burke, Novo, Arveladze
Reserves : Ball, Hutton, Namouchi, Ricksen, Wyness, Djordjic, Mladenovic

Kick-Takers :
- Left Corner : Lovenkrands
- Right Corner : Mendieta
- Free-kicks : Skara
- Penalties : Prso
Captain : Mendieta

Now it is time for Rangers's first game of the season, at home in Glasgow versus Kilmarnock. Due to their inexperience in their new formation, the game resulted in a dissapointing loss for Rangers, as Murray scored for Kilmarnock giving them a 0-1 win over last season's SPL Champions.

Due to poor results from their practice games, Italiano has switched Rangers's formation back to the original 4-3-1-2. A view of the line-up is shown below. All other information concerning squads and team tactics is the same as shown above.

---------- Prso ----- P'sky ----------
-------------- Skara ---------------
---- Loven' ----- Rae ----- Men'eta ---
Malcolm --- K'vili ---- Taylor --- M'Pablo
------------- Kim Y. G. -------------

Rangers' next game is the all-important away derby against Glasgow Celtic. Rangers had a good win over Celtic, with two late goals from Mendieta and Arveladze giving Rangers the 1-2 win.

After last season's success, Rangers now find themselves in Europe's most glorious competition, the UEFA Champions League, but in order to reach the group stages, they must first play the qualifying rounds, which consist of two legs. And their opponent is English giant Liverpool FC.

Now for the first leg against Liverpool in the Qualifying Rounds of the UCL. The game ended in a highscoring 4-4, including a hattrick from Milan Baros and a goal from Gerrard, and for Rangers goals from Prso, Poborsky, Novo, and Skara.

Then Rangers faced Hearts in the league. It was a simple game for Rangers, as Karel Poborsky scored late in the first half to give them a 1-0 win over Hearts.

Now for the second leg against Liverpool in the Qualifying Rounds of the UCL. The match ended 1-1, and with a final aggregate of 5-5, Rangers advance to the Group Stages, as they beat Liverpool by the 'away goals' rule. Rangers was placed in Group E, and their opponents are Ajax Amsterdam, FC Porto, and PAOK.

The away game against Hibernian was a tough one. The game ended 1-2 in Rangers's favour, Riordan scoring for the home side and Poborsky teaming up with Lovenkrands, as they both scored to win the game for Rangers.

Then Rangers beat Aberdeen 2-1 at home. Poborsky scored early in the second-half, but Scott Severin equalised. The game looked set for a draw, but on the 89th minute Poborsky grabbed the winning goal.

Rangers's next match was against Dumferline. Centre-back Taylor scored first, but Wilson equalised for Dumferline to end the game in a disspointing 1-1 draw. After 6 games, Rangers are in first place, while rivals Celtic have been playing badly, and lie in 8th position.

Next Rangers beat Livingston, thanks to Dado Prso's late goal giving Rangers the 1-0 win over last-placed Livingston, who had trouble breaking Rangers's tough defense. After that Rangers defeated Dundee 2-3 away from home, as Barret scored twice for Dundee and Skara grabbing a goal and Rae getting two for Rangers.

Now it's time for Rangers's first match in the UEFA Champions League Group Stage, at home to Ajax Amsterdam. The teams were evenly-matched. Skara scored a magnificent goal, but Charisteas scored back. Then Prso scored, but again Charisteas got one back. Then Babbel scored for Ajax, but Poborsky equalised. In the second half, Skara got his second goal, but then Mitea got one, and finally Van der Vaart scored and Prso scored again. The match ended with a satisfying final score of 5-5.

The week after their 5-5 draw with Ajax, Rangers now fly to Portugal to face FC Porto in their second group stage game. By half-time, Rangers were down 2-0. But in the second-half, Arveladze and Mendieta both got a goal. Porto player Quaresma, frustrated, fouled Novo in the box, and Mendieta scored through the penalty giving Rangers the 2-3 win.

Rangers thrashed Inverness CT in their next game, as Rae, Skara, Taylor, and Prso all contributing a goal, so Rangers won the game 4-0, keeping them in first place in the league. In their game versus Motherwell, Skara and Prso both grabbed two spectacular goals, which gave the away team Rangers a 0-4 win.

Then Rangers played their next UCL opponents, PAOK. It was a thriller, with Skara, Prso, and Poborsky all scoring and securing a 3-0 home win over the Greek club.

In their home game against Dundee United, Rae and Taylor scored and Scotland scored for Dundee United, so the match ended in a 2-2 draw.

Now Rangers play Ajax in the second legs of the UCL Group Stage. Similar to their previous meeting, the match ended in a draw, this time with a score of 1-1, with Babbel scoring for Ajax and Prso equalising for Rangers.

Next Rangers played their second derby against Celtic FC. Rangers lost here, as Shaun Maloney and Valgaeren both grabbed a goal each to grab the 0-2 win over their rivals.
