Are you happy to see the 2nd group stage scrapped from the tournament?

I'm not happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

Anas

why not? less fatigue in players, so they can give better performances. plus it might help lower g14 dominance, and restore a bit of equality in europe :O :)

So do we now have the top 2 from each group go straight into a knockout stage? or are only the 8 group winners playing in a knockout stage?

i think it's great, now we'll have the chance to see smaller teams in the semis, more surprises in perspective :p

no 2nd group stage --> less Champions League matches --> less fun --> :(

wtf if the players are tired is not a problem (and what a problem knowing the money they get), i wake up every day at 7:00 am and i get home really tired at 18:00, i guess there is a single football player so tired as me after working a day...

what about Valencia ?

2000 they played the final
2001 lost the final in penalties
2002 UEFA :\
2003 played quarter finals

thats achivementes are better so far that any italian team in the last 4 years

i disagree....how would we know the team deserves to be in a qf....and it would be less fun....who knows if a group can be a
madrid, united, juventus and bayern.... i will agree if the competition is extended to 64 teams....

my format...

1st ko stage
2nd group phase
ko stage

Yes, it also gives the clubs with less money (making them less stacked, so they have less quality guys to go to for backups) more of a chance.

Plus teams have cup runs as well, that they need their top players for.

But if they're tired, chances are, they'll play sh!t matches more often, and more people will bitch about how they're paid to much.

The CL has more matches for every team since the early- and mid-90's, when they only had 4 groups of 4 teams and the knockout stage would start with the quarterfinals.....

No second group phase. Its more exciting because the players wont beable to lay back in hope of gettin a draw which would qualify them. They have GOT TO win :)

so how about the teams who qualified...they will lose money from ticket sales as there is only 1 match to play instead of 3 at home and who knows if it is broken....and ko stages are luck...especially 2 legged ones....this will influence negative foot ball like the embarassing 0-0 final draw at old trafford.....and stop talking about fatigue....
ferdinand said he craves cl football and that is what should be more having....many players also craves cl football... not for cash but for playing time...

Its a good idea. The players are playing too many matches (2-3 a week nowadays) and it is gettin them knackered. Now I know what Sven is talking about! (H)
