Its even more painful for the bin dippers that the equaliser was an own goal. That is the icing on the cake for me. :)

By the way, many of our new gloryhunters are much too rich to be involved in Chav culture in any way whatsoever. Chavs come mainly from an uneducated underclass of people with a very poor taste in clothes and bling. Which is why you see so many of them at Anfield supporting 'pool. :innocent_smile_1:

You can't fill a stadium with die-hard fans. You've just gotta hope that the bandwagon and fairweather fans are as loud as the rest.

Right, so we're playing the stereotype game now. Are these rich new fans the fat, gold-toothed skinheads I see on the tube with classy Chelsea tattoos on the back of their heads. Sound like royalty, them. Or perhaps the little kids in Chelsea shirts holding hands with their dads, who, poor blokes, quasi-proudly sport West Ham shirts?

Now I'm not from Liverpool so I don't feel I have to justify to you that I don't dip in bins. But the fact that yes, we suddenly have so many day trippers and OOT fans now deems your intelligent analysis of the north to be as credible as Boris Johnson's manifesto. While our 'bin dipper' demographic has been diluted by the cosmopolitan fans, we call you the chavs because of the new demographic your club as been attracting since you won the League.

Sevillista is absolutely right, gloryhunters are now the bread and butter for most teams. That includes you. You honestly think your fanbase is entirely made up of i-bankers?

In other, completely non-banter news, how many games has Shevchenko played this season, out of interest?

You started the stereotyping mate, not me. When you begin to be a little more respectful to the real fans of a club, and not simply rely on a generalisation, then maybe you might get some respect back.

Hope thats not too difficult to understand my dole scrounging, wife beating, car stealing, drug taking friend..... Whoops I did it again......sorry 'bout that. :innocent_smile_1:

He's feasted on poor EPL teams, but in the last 3 CL home games(all against high quality opposition), Torres has scored ONE goal.

I can't even imagine how Riise felt yesterday. Poor guy.

It's bad luck....this time (third time) we've got it.

As for the game, if it wasn't for Petr Cech, luck or no luck, we'd have had 3. This was probably the best we've played of all the 5 SF games with Chelsea.......and we still couldn't score more than ONE. AWFUL! With their impressive home record, Chelsea have to be the favourites now.

Today's match is going to be very boring I think. It seems as in the latest seasons Liverpool - Chelsea always ends up in 0-0.

Looking forward to tomorrow's match though. Two teams that want to play beautiful and attacking football. :D

Well, we got what we've come to expect from Barcelona; absolute domination of posession with no goals to show for it. Great defense from ManU.

Yeah all 11 of them.

Jeez, people critisized Chelsea playing like that at the Camp Nou. They said it was negative, boring and anti-football. So when Man U do it, it's suddenly an extremely clever game plan. That's so funny.

Now I see where Ronaldo get's his reputation as a big game bottler. He was pants. Yup if itwasn't for Uniteds 11 man defence, and the fact that the Barca strikers couldn't hit a barn door, this might have actually been a good game.

The return leg will be more passionate I would think.

Impressed with Ronaldo's attitude after the game: "No problem, now i score in Manchester"

Very "safe" performance from us, i don't think we played as badly as Pete would like to say we did :p A very mature approach tonight which is what has impressed me this season - we're not gung-ho every game home or away, which is what killed us off last year against Milan. Defence played very well tonight.

Ronaldo was very disappointing though, but so was Messi to an extent - he looked all flash but no end product at all. Rooney wasnt very much involved either, though he got the job done for the team - but he did give the ball away at times that was disappointing.

Was i watching a different game? Because what i saw, was a team in dark pass the ball around for 90 minutes but fail to do something creative and a team in white desperately defend whatever they can and just hoof the ball upfield for the whole game. Anybody else watched my game?

This was without doubt the worst game United played since Milan. The fact that Barcelona is struggling in scoring department was the only reason why it wasn't another 3-0. And i'm not even being harsh on the team. We had all talk about how this is gonna be different and how this team is all ready and everything, but what i saw was the same Milan game minus the goals. Even our defending wasn't good, usually we try to pass it out, but today it was one lucky foot in, one pass and then a straight lunge downfield hoping that Rooney/Tevez/Ronaldo get it. And they did get it maybe like 5 times in a whole game, but that all came to a whole lot of nothing. The team didn't look like they wanted to be there, barely any movement off the ball and really United basically got played off the park.

Why did Park ever survive half-time, nevermind the whole game? And why was Anderson never brought on is beyond me. We have two midfielders in the team that get stuck in and block the middle, one of them struggling as right-back and the other never came on. Carrick and Scholes played as if they weren't there. But still, what was Park doing on the field? Ronaldo had a decent game, apart from pks and fks, he actually controlled the ball well when he could, but it would always end up in a trip or a dive.

And what kind of divefest was i watching there? Deco, Iniesta, Xavi, Ronaldo, Messi. Its like they all tried to outdo each other, with Deco always being there to comment on what they need to improve for their next time. And more Barcelona players dived because United players couldn't even get to the ball, but Ronaldo it seemed made up for that shortage on our part.

What the **** was that from Manchester United? All they came to do was sit back and defend, the only one who attacked was CR and he was being a whiny little girl in this one. Shot now I just hope that Barca score early to see the Man U players **** their pants, it was a rather boring game as Barca is pathetic in attack and Man U didn't come to attack which is a shame as they could have ended this tie if they actually came to play and made it a game to watch instead of the crap I just saw.

Very very VERY disappointed with the "mighty" Man Utd today. You played like a relegation threatened team from La Liga with 10 men behind the ball and 1 shot on target all game. Pathetic, absolutely pathetic. Funny to read Man U fans describe the performance as "mature", bullsh!t. Eto'o should have scored at least once, if not more. Disappointed that the ref only gave Man U one yellow card though. How Tevez, Scholes, and Carrick escaped a booking is beyond me, seemed they were only interested in taking our players down. As far as Ronaldo goes, he is a total prick. Messi is not only much more skillful on the ball, but he's a much more modest, humble, and professional player. Ronaldo elbowing Marquez in the face and then falling to get a pentalty was absolutely disgraceful.

All in all, the bus-parking Man U destroyed the game from a nuetral's perspective. But we defended well and didn't give them any chance. If we can stay strong in the return leg, we can exploit the gaps they leave and score.

Visca el barca!

Aye, so annoying from Man United not allowing themselves to get beat! How dare they!

I thought Ronaldo's "performance" was insulting to his team mates. There was a moment in first half that summed it. They finally got the ball up the field to him after some heavy Barca pressure, and the guy lost it cheaply trying to do a stupid trick god damn it.

Great result for them though seeing how the match actually went.

I see that I've shown you more respect than you deserve in your entire lifetime my friend.

Didn't make a generalisation, just giving your a cross-section of the Chelsea fanbase that I actually saw. This conversation is over mate. I'm not going to dignify your comments any more.

Back to the topic, it is evident that Ronaldo carries UTD. I would rather have face Barcelona at 7:44pm in the final if we made it, but now I'm not as wary of UTD.

Well, can't blame Man Utd for being cautious against Barca, but I thought they went to the Camp Nou to attack Barca not to park the bus(a term affectionately used for us when we played Barca), the only chances I can think of for Utd is the Ronaldo penalty and the Carrick shot........and Barca were being what they were all season long, plenty of possession but nothing to show.....felt sorry for Messi, the boy was pleading for more time but understandably Barca can't afford to risk a player like him...........

Its game on at OT, Man Utd will attack Barca and vice versa, which will leave gaps for both teams to exploit.
But Barca do have a good record on English soil, so if Man Utd think they've got the advantage then they're dead wrong.

Err what? I thought the ref was quite biased towards you guys actually. All your players took turns hacking at Ronaldo so they would not pick up too many yellow. Zambrotta was lucky not to be sent off after body checking him and than Evra later in the game. Anyway there was diving from both sides so I don't see what your complaining about and Eto'o was totally crap in this game.
