Chelsea Ban Veron & Crespo

Chelsea have banned Juan Sebastian Veron and Hernan Crespo from playing against them in Europe this season.
The Blues have loaned the players out to Inter and AC Milan respectively and have moved to avoid the same embarrassement felt by Real Madrid last season when Fernando Morientes knocked them out of the Champions League while on loan at Monaco.

A Chelsea source said: "We have standard contracts and there’s no question of any of our players being allowed to play against us. Just as Mikael Forsell cannot play against Chelsea in a competitive match neither can Veron or Crespo."

Yeah this is fairly normal. What I found amusing last year is that the main player in two of the four semi finalist teams was a Real Madrid reject, Morienties for Monaco and Makelele for us, when Real Madrid failed to get that far.

Yes - I'd do the same if I was in Chelsea's position.

...

Sorry I can't resist from telling you your signature needs major improvements.

I think that's dumb, if they don't want them to play against them, they shouldn't loan them in the first place.......:kader:

No it's not dumb. They own the players they shouldn't have to risk letting their own players beat them. They would look very stupid if that happened.

Imagine Chelsea losing the CL Final to AC Milan due to a Crespo brace.

thats not fair for the lpayer though
imagine if its a CL final between Chelsea and Milan....so Crespo wouldn't be able to play a CL final because of that

Pussies.

Like FF7 said, if Milan and Chelsea are in the finals, Crespo will be missing out on a once in a lifetime opportunity.

So what if they are on loan ? They are Milan players for the season and should be allowed to play even against the club who own them.

also what happens if Chelsea meet Milan and Inzaghi or Sheva miss the game due to injury ?

i know the probability of that happening is remote but its still very unprofessional.

I admit that would be an unfair scenario, but imagine if Crespo knocked Chelsea out the CL, then had to come back and play at the Bridge next season. I would have thought that would be even more unpleasant for him than missing out on the CL final, and also, imagine if he was in the CL final and lost to his team mates, how embarrased would he be then.

This is something FIFA should not allow, teams should be able to use players on their payroll to play against any team... and I think very lame and whimper of Chelsea to do this... :kader:

but what if Milan decide to keep him and not send him back ? (buy him from Chelsea)

Thats a big possibility if Crespo says that he wants to stay and if Milan want him....

so all in all its unfair.

I suppose you're right.

It's lame but it could prevent some awkward situations for both the club and the player. I don't think it should be allowed though as I think if any club loans out a player they should think of things like this and be prepared for them to happen.
