That was a good match, as quite surprised to see so few real chances, but it was nice seeing such a good battle in midfield and between forwards and defenders. Our defense was spectacular. I'm really enjoying watching Branislav, he is so strong, so robust, and such a good marker. Very pleasantly surprised by him. Cole was very good too, he didn't add that much to the attack, but he was superb defensively. I can't fault him for not keeping up with Walcott all the time, he had a great game, but Cole did well. So many great tackles, and that brings me to IMO, Man of the Match, Frank Lampard.
I always knew he could defend as well as attack, but he had such a great game on both fronts in that second half. Excellent defending, good anticipation, gave us good chances and really rattled Arsenal. His assist was very good as well, reminded me of Guti's pass last week, but Drogba was aided by Silvestre's slowness and poor positioning. I think he'd have scored were it Kolo as well, but still. Poor Fabianski, that first error must've scared him ****less. Goals weren't his fault, and really, I barely noticed the keepers.
Drogs and Adebayor had a good game, it as interesting to see them both on the field as they're quite similar. In fact, they had some amazingly similar moments, big difference was in the defense. Arsenal's didn't have a bad game, but it wasn't good either, and ours had a great day, which was really where the two teams were seperated. Both midfields were pretty good, Malouda with another good game, same goes for Essien. Ballack and Anelka, well, meh. Players of their calibre should always be dangerous and be real difference-makers. I'm not impressed with Anelka on the right, and considering Ivanovic's only offensive asset is his buffalo-like stampede, we had nothing to offer on the right.
I think this game could do good for Cech's confidence, he didn't mess up, and that's not something we should be priding ourselves in, but after a poor week, it's a step-up. He still needs to find a way to deal with crosses, especially in the Premiership.
Optimistic about these final months. Arsenal are our last really tough opponent in the league, and we can get a result against them. They probably won't have anything to fight for by the time we match up, what with Villa's poor run and a hopefully bigger gap between us by then. Was nice to get a win after they beat us at the Bridge, but a win at their stadium would be even better.
I dunno who to hope for, Everton who will be having nothing else to fight for with their Europe spot pretty much guaranteed, or ManU, who're more dangerous but will also be more tired what with challenging for 3 title still, quite like us. Either way, this looks like another great season end.
