Didn't Bayern get Podolski's Transfer rights?

I mean if Podolski doesn't want to come, then we should get Owen.

I am of the opinion that we should get Owen anyway...as he might be relatively easy to pry away, and cheap, when he gets wind of Chelsea's intrest. It seems, actually, that the guy was in London, specifically, Surrey houseshopping recently, so clearly he thinks he has a future somewhere in London.

After I quoted your lineup, it became balanced again. Strange. Anyway, your point of Cole as the third midfielder is the one I wanted to discuss. Many feel that he merits being put back on the bench with a fit Duffer and Robben back, but with his ability to adjust to what Jose wanted earlier this season I think the guy can be plopped in midfield and make the best of it. Tiago is great and all, but Joe is a rising star. Only problem is its gonna restrict Lamps going forward and if that happens, then nobody's gonna frigging score.

Bobby, you loveable bastard you :)

As it is, here is the big news: Gianfranco Zola has called it quits

Chelsea legend Zola ends career

Former Chelsea and Italy striker Gianfranco Zola has quit the game, a week before his 39th birthday.

Zola had a fine season in Serie A with Cagliari, leading to speculation he might play on for another 12 months.

But the former Napoli and Parma star, a legend at Stamford Bridge, has confirmed he will now retire.

He said: "It was not an easy decision, but I felt an ever stronger desire to dedicate myself to things that I have neglected over these years."

Zola, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Parma for £4.5m in 1996, played for Chelsea for seven years but returned to Italy to finish his career with Cagliari.

He scored 80 goals and helped the club win six trophies during his seven seasons at Stamford Bridge.

What a legend. Someone on another forum immediately suggested a petition for the club to get a statue of him outside the Bridge and ill pass that along if it ever comes to fruition. I dearly hope the guy joins the front office or the bench, or just gets a spot somewhere with the club, because with all the negative press around the club right now, his class and humility is just whats needed

zo long and thank you :jap:

Golden Arrow, I think that Pandiani can be good in the Premiership but he's not going to be any better then Drogba for Chelsea. The club is Chelsea, not Newcastle United or Liverpool so we can pretty much afford any player in the world and Pandiani isn't exactly the best although he's good. It'd just make more sense to buy Owen because you could get him from Real Madrid by using money. You can't buy Eto'o or Sheva or Henry, etc by offering money. It'd work on Owen though and he's still one of the best strikers in the world. Maybe his reputation took a small hit when he was with Liverpool because he couldn't save the team like everyone expected including Houllier.

U know what Im starting to hate bout chelsea, is that its become a cheque book club. Sort of a club U come to to ensure U get a really nice financial cushion for when they retire.

Theres no loyalty or passion for the club...its just become about MONEY!!

And the real danger is , it could become a club full of mercinaries ...

just check what happens if they dont win anything? Are they going to be united, work harder and make a comeback next season.

Or r they going to be divisions and cliques developnig and guys start thinking bout renegotiating contracts or look for moves elsewhere ...Real Madrid etc... because these are clubs wherethey can win things

Dont take this the wrong way, but youre sounding like the millions of Carlos*asses that talk endlessly about Chelsea as if theyre the first team to ever buy players in a transfer market: Oh your players are mercenaries, oh its all about the money. Maybe Roman's first season was like that, but you need to do some research on how Mourinho runs the team. There is a reason he doesnt buy primmadonnas and superstars, as he wants younger, hungry players who dont get complacent, and he wants to be able to mold them into a cohesive group. His desire to win is like a force of nature and he wont let any bad attitude bitch ruin that. Look at the dedication the team has now: Lamps, Terry, Duffer, Joe Cole, Guddy, they all love Chelsea dearly now because theyre doing fantastic for one of the worlds top sides. Would Gallas have been crying on the pitch of Anfield in the CL semifinal if he didnt care about Chelsea and only cared about the money? Think about those things first: Yes, there probably are a few mercenaries, but its all for the club and one for all under Jose, and thats how it should be

Mourinho's created loyalty in the club inluding with all the Portuguesse players. I can't think of a single bitchy player in Chelsea. Look at their back up goalie Carlo Cudicini who could be starting for Italy, he hasn't left yet even though he's a backup-that's loyalty and I like Cudicini even if he doesn't have the invincibility that Cech has but who does nowadays. That's why Chelsea go after players like Michael Owen and Steven Gerard because they're good player who work hard and don't complain.

Yah, he doesn't have the prestige thing about him which isn't bad because that means he'll always be judged based on his performance unlike Raul, Ronaldo, etc.

Don't worry about it though, I'm sure that there'll be a world class striker at Stamford Bridge by the end of the summer, maybe two of them.

Rob

Mourinho’s Assistant
He is too short, Mourinho won't sign him, Mourinho does not like short players the size of Saviola upfront.

Saviola is 169 cm compared to Owens 176cm.

Owen is short yes, but he isnt thatshort that Mourinho would not sign him.

There are other short players in our team, but where any of them Mourinho signings? And look at all of his signings, and previous teams, almost all the players are fairly tall, and by no means small, I mean Deco is bigger then Owen in height.
