I think maybe Sensi did this because he has someone else in mind, maybe after getting Chivu he saw that he can spend that 18 mill somewhere else, for a better player.

One more day and we have Chivu again.

Chivu is one of the best. You should know that as an Ajax supporter;)

The Ajax director told has told the Dutch media tonight that they are about to sue Roma before the Dutch courts under Dutch law.
According to Ajax, the whole story is not only damaging for Chivu but for Ajax allso! They bought new players thinking that they would receive millions from Roma for Chivu and the yearcount is based on the selling of Chivu (among others).
The money they received from Roma (4 Million) will not be returned as of yet, Ajax reckons this is money for the damage.
Saturday afternoon Ajax received a fax from Sensi himself stating that the bankguarantee will come and that he wants Chivu to stay in Roma. Too little too late according to Ajax, they expect Chivu at the grouptraining this monday UNLESS they can sell him to another club, Real, Inter and Chelsea are in the race for him.
Just in case, they added Chivu on the list of players for the CL cause when Chivu has no other club by tomorrow night, he stays in Amsterdam!!
No matter what internetsites and newspapers write, I heard it from the horses mouth tonight, Ajax is expecting Chivu to return on monday.
Somehow I think that Chivu will be sold today (sunday) cause he's one of the best defenders in Europe and an asset for any team, I hope so for his sake cause this can't be good for him and it's time this came to a closure...

UPDATE: Chivu doesn't have to return to Ajax tomorrow since he's playing two caps for Romania this week but according to Ajax it's DEFINITE that he will leave Roma!!
Ajax is still hoping and open for negotiating a transfer to another club but it HAS to be TODAY!!

No they told it on tv not on the official website.
Linked to him at the moment are: Internazionale, Real Madrid, Chelsea and maybe more but they have to act fast!!

This piece says enough, no I'm not worried, we got a great defender in Julien Escudé at the moment, he's adapting quite nicely in Amsterdam and the same goes for Zdenek Grygera.
Both players are fantastic, Grygera has a concussion at the moment due to a duel in the game today.
I truly hope for Cristian that he will find a new club by the end of today cause he deserves it but if he stays with Ajax I would be very happy as well cause like I said earlier, he's an asset to each team and he's allowed to play in the CL for Ajax.
With Chivu + Escudé + Grygera + Passanen + Galasek we would have a massive defense!
Anyway here is what the Ajax press-chef told the Italian media:

08/31/2003. Ajax have registered Christian Chivu in their Uefa squad and insisted that the player is still theirs, despite AS Roma's pledge that they will pay all of the Romanian's transfer fee.

"We have not received anything from Roma," Ajax team manager David Endt told Goalcity.it.

"As far as we are concerned, Chivu is part of our squad and we have registered him for the Champions' League."

"Even if the financial guarantees come through we might not accept them. In theory we can now negotiate Chivu's sale to another club."

well the transfer deadline has passed right? and still no news. As much as id hate to see him leave Roma, as long as he stays in Italy thats alright with me. If he goes to Chelsea, ill stop watchin soccer(thats a lie).

The Ajax director stated sundaynight (32.30) that they expect Chivu back at Ajax no matter what any newspaper or website may say. his words "Chivu is ours" says it all!
Roma is living in dreamland, they can't cough up the money so Chivu is leaving, it seems the deadline wasn't 00.00 sundaynight but monday on 12.00.
The director allso told the media that they are negotiating with a few clubs and that he's confident Chivu will be sold by noon tomorrow, he hasn't mentioned a club but it's a big club in Europe he said. This means that he's 100% leaving Roma no matter how calm they are
Chivu has told the media that he would love to stay in Roma but that there's no possibillity if the clubs can't come to an agreement which means MONEY!!
If Roma can pay the 14 million they owe Ajax it's still not certain that he stays in Roma, it seems Ajax has lost it's patience and who can blame them...promises promises but still no guarantee

does anybody know the exact time when the deadline closes, cause i bet ill come on my computer and find out that roma kept chivu, while chelsea bought makalele from real, who bought davids and ayala from valencia who sold aimar to inter(in my dreams, but im convinced it would solve inters midfield prob.....im rambling....its clear that inter lacks the Nedveds, tottis and rui costas of the world to win the league, and they already missed out on veron...more babbling...and clearly cuper has a hard-on for argentines, so wouldnt Aimar be perfect..alright im done)

we'll see what happens tomorrow

I think if Ajax receive all the money right now they will let him stay at Roma cause there is now way Capello and Sensi will let this player just slip away. If they really want the player to stay Sensi will pay his own money.

Chivu stays in Roma

09/01/2003. The Ajax official website announced AS Roma will be able to retain the services of Romania skipper Cristian Chivu after that the Serie A club transferred out another part of the 18 million Euros fee they agreed to with the Dutch giants.

However the player is still not fully owned by Roma as for now Ajax have agreed to loan out the player to the Giallorossi for four months.

During this time span the Roman club will need to offer the financial guarantees requested by Ajax in order to make the deal permanent.

Yep I think this is the best result for all parties involved, if this isn't enough time to pay the rest of the sum I don't know what is??!:o
I'm happy for Cristian, we have Escudé, Trabelsi and Grygera so we don't really need him that bad but Roma does!
When Roma can't cough up the rest, Ajax will hold on to the 6 million Roma payed as "damage fee" AND they'll get Chivu back.
The ball is in Roma's court now.......
