and you should know Washington who is a Brazilian striker..He was playing for Fenerbahce 2 years ago and he was nearly died because of his heart problems..

There must be a rule from now on i think..Players with heart problems must retire..

I dont think you can make that generalisation , some players may be able to contniue on with their Career with no problems , it will have to be dealt with case by case , some heart problems could just be minor , while others more serious.

look at Serginho..Everybody asked to him at the beginning of the season for his retirement but he didnt retire but now he retired from life :(

There are different cases of heart problems. Washington's case is almost gone or completely gone, plus he does exams every two weeks, and at a minimal risk, they'll stop him from playing.

Some issues can be resolved with surgery. Serginho didnt do that.

No but the tackle wasn't that bad, it was a shoulder barge and Cisse just kinda tripped over and unfortunatly landed the wrong way.

You dont select to be a footballer. You get selected. If you're not good enough, you wont make it. Life IS more important than football, but you're just acting like every footballer is playing with his life, when they're just doing their jobs.

I guess you're getting scared by the recent deaths of players. So am i, but still, those cases are still rare, it's not like every time a guy steps in a field, he's risking his life. Plus in the last case of death, Serginho played at his own risk because he was aware that he had heart problems. Not saying he was asking for it, but he knew about it and he decided to keep playing. Unfortunately, things have gone just wrong.

Djibril Cisse is unlikely to play again this season after suffering a broken leg during Saturday's 2-2 draw at Blackburn.
The French striker was taken to hospital in Blackburn where X-Rays revealed the extent of the injury.

Liverpool FC Head of Press Ian Cotton said: "Our club doctor Mark Waller has confirmed that Djibril Cisse suffered a comminuted fracture of the tibia and fracture of the fibula in his left leg.

"Djibril will undergo surgery on Sunday morning to insert a pin in the tibia. Unfortunately he is unlikely to play again this season and everybody at the club wishes him the speediest of recoveries."

Comminuted fracture: A fracture in which bone is broken, splintered or crushed into a number of pieces.

From http://distance.stcc.edu/AandP/AP/AP1pages/bone/bone2.htm

comminuted fracture-- this is the worst kind of fracture because it is a shattering of the bone into many pieces (some of which may never be recovered usably)

Be strong Djib.

I've seen a very similar situation 5 or 6 years ago in a Steaua vs. Petrolul game. Our captain (:( he was 35 so you can cut him some slack, old footballers are slow and crazy) went in with his foot and slammed it right in the leg of the oposing player from the front, the dudes leg broke exactly the same way only backwards and he eventually had to retire :(, I still remember seeing that incident live it was scary as hell.

About Cisse I hope that he finds some really really really good doctors because an injury like that could either force him into retirement or just take away from his great skills which is likely, man this really sucks Cisse was one of the best now and for the future :(.
