my head says Liverpool will win 2-0, but my heart's feeling like a 1-1. :( Giovanni and Miccoli (who scored the winner on the weekend) are back from injury, so that's a little encouraging, but getting a result at Anfield is always tough for anyone..

I have a feeling we'd score an early goal, then concede a late one due to our sheer profligacy as usual. Benfica really have got as good a chance as any at this point of time.

yeah, getting the 1-0 advantage really shook things up and gave us a real chance of getting through, but our coach has zero knowledge of tactics and generally makes stupid decisions, so our chances of blowing it are still pretty good..

Having Miccoli back in the lineup does give me a bit more confidence, his speed and skill will be a big asset and tough for guys like Hyypia to deal with, at least on paper anyways

It's imperative that we dont get hit by an early 1-2 or worse still, not learn from the Manc's defeat. Granted the Mancs are poo, (haha) but I think we'll have a problem if your lot keep their collective cool and just keep it tight at the back, cause that will undoubtedly lead to our intensifying of our route one footie if it hasn't already. Don't see Crouch getting much change out of Luisao. Your defence can have a cuppa if Morientes gets the ball 10 yards off the goal, he'll probably miss it anyroad. And if Simao gets just 1 from a setpiece, we'd crumble.

If we defend well, like we usually do, we can score a goal in the counter-attack with such fast players like Miccoli, Simão and Geovanni, so i believe we will win it again by 0-1, may be to confident, but oh well, i really believe we can do it... Although i'm afraid of one thing, we will not be able to defend very well when this man his the keeper...



Still, let's hope he has a good night, and Benfica pass to the next round, Força Mágico SLB!

yeah, what's the deal with Moretto!? Every since coming to Benfica from Setubal he's looked like an absolute nervous wreck in net... I'm thinking he's just not cut out for the bigger spotlight of playing for a CL team, bad signing in retrospect

And there's no f*cking reason for Quim to be benched, he was playing well, and only suffered a goal like in one month, then, this guy comes and plays as a starter in the very first game, like he is some kind of phenomenal goalkeeper or something, it's so unfear to Quim, but it's Koeman fault that puts him playing, or maybe Vieira/Veiga (?)... Anyway, he's our keeper, so we have to support him no matter...

we now got another set piece taker, Robert :lui: 2 goals in 2 the last 2 league games, so he's riding his foot to anfield (6)

i think if we can get past the pressure of liverpool offense in the first 20 minutes then we will get through, maybe even a win @ anfield in a counter attack by Geovanni or Miccoli...

I think Benfica will be massacred in the first 30 minutes. I expect nothing but a Liverpool at full force. Benfica will have to hang in. If Benfica hangs the first pressure line, then they might have a chance. It all depends on the inconsistent defensive line and specially, the GK. My head says it will go to OT, where Liverpool will clinch it. But Benfica may surprise Pool...and they deserve respect.

yeah, we're gonna get mauled for sure. We're gonna have to just hold strong and let them bring it....then hope for a Simao freekick or counter to get a goal. Anfield is going to be a tough environment too with the fans so close to the pitch, and Liverpool will never give up either regardless of the score.

I'm just hoping that if we get eliminated, we do it fighting to the last minute...and not because of some stupid mistake or something

Only Simão? I say Robert is terrific in those as well. Fast players in front is necessary...I would do one thing...Geovanni and Miccoli, and Nuno Gomes like playmaker. I think it would be a great counter-attack tactic.

As i said, Moretto will have to be confident. Or maybe bring Quim (doubtful) in...
