Yeah that sounds about right, and accounts for the different figures. I personally dont count signing on and agency fees as part of the transfer fee (FM habit) so I would call that a total transfer fee of around €50m.

I guess this means Zenit own 100% of him? Is third party ownership even allowed in Russia?

Considering what I've read so far yeah, from now on Zenit fully "own" him.

Don't know about the third party thing in Russia.

So what's the current position of his economic rights? Where is he gonna be playing? Looks like he's not gonna be going to Europe any time soon.

Santos only owned 45% (30% according to some sources) of Ganso the rest belongs to a third party. What São Paulo did was buy that 45% (or 30%) from Santos. Santos can still receive 5% of the future transfer fee that São Paulo get if they sell Ganso.

In short Ganso is a São Paulo player and has up to 70% of his rights held by a third party.

Yeah, that's what I read too. He'll play for Sao Paulo, with the majority of his economical rights being held by a third party investment group.

Anyway it's a nice catch for Sao Paulo, they needed a star signing, with Lucas Moura leaving for PSG in January.

What's the point of the third party investing in him if only the part they don't own gets sold? If the above is true it makes it seem they didn't make any money.

I think a lot of European nations don't allow for third-party ownership, so when he gets sold to Europe, they'll make money. I think.

Yeah I'm sure Sao Paulo would have wanted to buy at least some of the third party share if they could but I suspect the group wouldn't sell, they are banking on a big bid from a European club to cash in.
