Dammit I wish I could watch these games but only Fox Soccer en Espanol is showing them and I don't have that channel on my cable plan :(

absolutely terrible River last night.

That leaves Libertad as the first potential finalist.

Hopefully Estudiantes and Velez can follow :p (I'd love to see Estudiantes go far)

Well you can't expect too much using 3 defenders and none of them being a super defender. Specially when River used to play with 4 defenders.:S

And the incidents were to be expected, happens most of the ime(if not always that you score 3 or more goals over River).:nape:

Just finished: Internacional 2 : 0 LDU (Y) Apparently a categorical win (I did not watch any of it); according to soccernet gamecast Clémer (Inter GK)'s only save was during 2nd half stoppage time. Will we have to play another time in Beira Rio if we get to finals?

Half an hour left for our match, weird heartbeats are expected for both halves of the stadium *sigh*

Lineups from São Paulo official site (not 100% definitive):

São Paulo: Rogério Ceni; Fabão, Alex e Edcarlos; Souza, Josué, Mineiro, Danilo e Júnior (Richarlyson); Thiago e Ricardo Oliveira. Técnico: Muricy Ramalho
2 of 3 titular defenders missing due suspension; Alex and Edcarlos for André Dias and D. Lugano. Júnior might not be fit to play as well, we'll only know just before kickoff.

Estudiantes: Herrera, Alvarez, Alayes, Ortis e Angeleri; Galván, Huerta, Braña e Sosa; Lugüercio e Calderón. Técnico: Diego Simeone

Juiz: Carlos Chandia (CHI). Local: estádio do Morumbi, em São Paulo (SP). Horário: 21h45 (GMT -3)

Sao Paolo are semifinalist awaiting the winner of CHivas vs Velez

it was a good match, Estudiantes was a good oponent, id say match was pretty even. However once they went to penalties that save by Rogeiro should of been repeated he was way off the line....

So far this libertadores has been really entertaining

Yeah the CSF needs to do something about the keepers and the penalties, both keepers gave steps fowards, i don't know if the one Herrera saved was inside the limit, but Ceni's should have been repeated for sure. But eh this ain't new 2 years ago River playing against Santos Laguna, the keeper of Santos Laguna saved a penalty when he was standing on the goal line and the referee said that it was going to be repeated. What the **** is the use of having a lineman on the same line of the keepers then?:kader:

Overall, neither team was amazing, however São Paulo played somewhat better than in previous matches and Estudiantes played a bit worse than previous matches, however São Paulo showed big troubles in defense and Estudiantes troubles to finish chances.

Two words: Rogério. Legend. :rockman: (off the line...:$ but otherwise it was the sweetest shootout victory in quite some time, if only goddamn tense). Good match, gameflow reminded me of this WC 'modern football', but at double tape speed, making chances possible (South America (6) ).

And HELL, we can't play Alex (our personal Lúcio-on-a-wild-day) AND EdCarlos at the same time. Both are walking time bombs.

Well, we're through...Shiryu, Stunna, El Presidente/ManU2000, I really hope we meet again on the next few weeks ;)

That was so cheap on Roger Ceni's part. And then that HORRIBLE MISS from that last player who took that shot from Estudiantes? holy crap.

El Diablo Rojo

Starting XI
That was Carrusca i belive, i thought no one was going to miss, maybe keepers to save penalties but no one to fail on the shot.

Did anyone notice that they changed the Mercurial ball? The one half white and one half gold ball is no more, now they use this which is all white, with a gold line that crosses it. I guess it's easier on the players' eyes.:o

jesus christ, Rogerio came off his line like 2 meters. That was pathetic. I was happy for Lugano after the game, but still.

This was almost as heart breaking as when Central lost it 2 years ago vs. Sao Pablo.

We had two great games again today :rockman:
Too bad about that the ref screwed up by allowing that penalty save from Ceni, he was clearly a few meters forward :nape:
I feel bad for Estudiantes, they played like warriors out there.

Semis:

Libertad vs. Internacional
Sao Paulo vs. Velez/Chivas

Sao Paulo - Chivas in semis! (Hopefully)

The Tricolor played some interesting football today, though their defence did look a little shaky at times, they managed to pull through on pure individual skill.
Interesting team, I'd take them over Estudiantes any day, Estudiantes is just the kind of counter-attacking team that always kills us.

heh, just call me Beto. :p And yeah I hope we meet again, if we can score first tomorrow we'll be in a good position to possibly secure that last spot in the semis. I hope we're ready for the game after the layoff, I couldn't watch the game against Celtic but apparently it wasn't all that promising of a performance. We usually turn it up in the Libertadores so we'll see.

Need your help, brothers. I'm gonna lay some money on the Chivas/Velez game and the odds for Chivas are mighty sweet. A straight win for them is paying back more than two and a half times what your wager is.

My question is, who's the better team here? Take home field advantage out of the equation. Who has the better players overall?

I think Gracian went to Monterry or something like that , and Salcido went to PSV so they
are both missing important players so its hard to tell. :)
