Darren Bent - Biggest waste of money ever?

Help?

pede has a very good point. Its not just the english players that are being overpriced lately, its more of a club that buys them.

And about Torres being better than Bent, after this year, i really don't know anymore. If i didn't know any better, than i would have said that Forlan is better option than both of them.

Not very surprising that a negative Spurs thread was started by a gooner though. Not very easy being a gooner at the moment, watching their main rivals adding to a side while their own club is in disarray. Must be very difficult.:brow:

Until will sign some decent players we will be bitter gooners , but heck something to do until then hey.

Torres will be the worst signing in EPL history.

Kezman, Jeffers, every time Huckerby gets signed...

And of course us gooners are upset, we've lost the best player during a run to the CL final. We'll miss you, Matthieu.

Torres is a regular for Spain though while its hard to say where Bent ranks in the England setup, but he'd be in the group with Alan Smith and Andy Johnson someway behind Rooney, Owen, Crouch and Defoe.

You cannot vouch that Torres will be particularly good, or better than Bent. Forlan and Kanoute were both in the Premiership, failed to impressed, went to La Liga, and are now some of the best strikers in that league. It could be that the Spanish style suits them better, and it could be that the Premiership is a tougher league, either way, there is no proof hat Torres will be any better than Bent.

IMO, Klose on his own is better than pretty much every striker mentioned in this thread. Except for Henry.

Yeh Bents price is high. But why should other live their lives according to Arsenal??????

So because Arsenal got ripped off for Thierry Henry, Every other striker in europe should cost way less than Henry. Yeh maybe in a dream world. This is English football where Andy Johnson could leave Everton for 15 million pounds.

Exactly....Torres is a good player but he had an average season and might not settle in the premiership. 27 million is a gamble. It could go either way. English players may not always be good but one thing is that they are is settled in England and can play in England thats for sure. So if Torres makes it he can be better. But if he flops then hes no better than Darren Bent. Because Bent has had one good season and a decent last season in the English league which is way more difficult than spanish league

Im not sure if its a waste of money if you think about it. He is only young and can still play another 10 Years of football, and hes a good player now so with spures he'll get a lot of XP im sure spures will be happy with him and that price.

Bent cost more than Crouch, which is inexcusable as they're both English but Crouch is proven internationally. Remember when you guys finally got Bent in the England team? It was like a black Aliadiere.

Rassist!

Anyway, out of curiosity, did this transfer move deserve its own thread? Bent has proven himself in the premiership and English players are always overpriced anyway. Nothing more to add really. :p
