David Beckham To La Galaxy

I'm nota fan either, but this is huge for MLS, and I mean HUGE! ..and yes, this IS bigger than Pele playing for the NY Cosmos back in the day. Pele was at the end of his career and big name European/South American players were not unusual in the NASL in those days.

I can only hope this will open a gateway for more better known players to come to MLS. I don't want it to affect North American footy development, but let's face the facts....people here wanna see guys like Becks on the field, a player like him can do a lot of good for the sport here, especially off the field.

Theres a lot of jealousy floating around but hey you dont become the most famous player in the world being average. Then again if anyone wants to be the next Beckham they should go ahead. Hes been a good player throughout his career. If you;ve seen interviews with him hes not a big headed person or doesnt go out of his way to get attention. So people need to cool it.

This is great for U.S soccer. Real MAdrid were using him as a marketing tool and there wasnt much football going on in the latter times under Capello. AT least here he will get playing time and maybe used to a hotter climate than Spain. Karanka was saying it wouldnt boost U.S soccer. NO it wouldnt. Thats why all the U.S clubs are crying out for him to sign and Soccer is like 4th or 5th behind crappy sports like American Football. Karanka was wrong, hes jealous of Becks. Lets face it U.S soccer will be better with Beckham there.

This move gives me yet another reason for hating the Galaxy. But, all grudges aside, its excellent news for the game here in US and A, and it will hopefully open the door to more world-class players at some point down the road.

he will be obviously taking the place of a more talented uruguyan though.

Whos that??? I've seen comments like this before. You aint heard the one where a Argentinian said there 1000's of players better than Beckham. And the commentator asked where are they?? I'll admit the english media glorify him. So what. Brazilians glorify robinho and players like that. These are all good players.

Beckham was and is still one of the best strikers of the ball. Hes ability is there for everyone to see. England being the most famous country in the world any player playing in the national team is going to be glorified. And Becks has been on of the main players. The English Premier League is the most watched league of any sport in the world. More than American Football, Baseball you name it. It earns way more money than any sport being watched in the whole world. There are more people watching this than there are watchin the superbowl. The fact of the matter is that Becks played in England. One of the reasons hes a famous player. Even if he didnt go to Madrid it wouldnt have made much of a difference but it did help.

good ridense, i like the guy but i think he is the ****test footballer ever.

i hope him going to the us will help make soccer (as they call it there) more popular, i think its a good move not just for la galaxy but for soccer as a whole in the states.

He was brill at England. Then he got poisoned by the ****ness of Real Madrid, and look at him now. He said he would like to end his career at the MLS. He's under 35 and he's already going to the MLS lol...

If i was big player i would move to the U.S. I;ve lived there before and who wouldnt want to. I can see why he would want to move there. Its a good place to live and work.

He must've spoken to McLaren over the last couple of weeks, and come to the conclusion his England days are truly over.

Good question... I certainly hope Bex leaves that 'Beckham Flop' he does behind him in Spain

unlikely though.

So who's gonna be the bigger diva at LA Galaxy? Donovan or Beckham?

Beckham doesn't hold a candle to that coddled crybaby Donovan. As soon as things got tough for him at Bayer Leverkusen, he turned tail and headed back to America. As a result, he has no mental toughness whatsoever and cannot handle adversity. It woudn't suprise me if he spends the rest of his career in MLS.
