Its a hard league

I feel sorry for Eduardo, a bad injury is an awful thing. But I have sympathy for Taylor, I don't believe he intentionally tried to harm Eduardo, just a bad mistimed tackle. There have been far worse tackles this year in the Premiership, Taylor/Eduardo are unlucky that his has come off worse than say Crouch's two footed lunge.

i would rather watch a league where there are tackles, and unfortunately sometimes they go wrong

To say Taylor should be banned for a while is stupid, and if any Arsenal fans advocate this, just think back to last Saturday against Man U. If Flamini had of hit Nani with his wild lunge, what chance would he have??? Eboue, enough said about him! Arsene Wenger's reaction has been sickening. He's since apologised, but too late. Arsenal have made some of the worst tackles this season. When things don't go their way, the start kicking people. Football isn't a tickling contest. If Eduardo didn't break his leg, Taylor would probably be able to appeal succesfully that red card, it wasn't that bad of a tackle.

Unfortunately it was severly unlucky. Eduardo's studs caught in the ground. Eduardo's quick feet and skill also fooled Taylor, the ball was there when he lunged, not there when he connected.

You will see far far more worse challenges than this. Kuyt in the Mersyside derby springs to mind, and he only got a yellow for a knee high 2 footed lunge.

Ok I never said I knew what was on his mind, but clearly if you watch the video and pictures you can see the man's face...I also know that as a defender (because like most people here I play the game and have for many years) if you go into a tackle studs up, you probably want one of three things A. To hurt the guy. B. To put a physical mark in the game by letting him know he cant just prance around the field at will or C. You are trying to break the flow of play....YOU ARE ALMOST NEVER TRYING TO GET THE BALL

as I said I dont think he meant to hurt the guy; but he did it and he felt guilty (I make that deduction based on his facial expressions after the tackle and during the time he received his red card) he realized he made a huge mistake in trying to go studs first and there you have it the rest is history......

That's an awful injury. I think he'll come back eventually - but I would guess it'll take at least a year till it's even strong enough to do ball work - then he'll have to rehab the muscle as well.

My thoughts go out to him - Mark Hughes said Martin Taylor was distraught, I can imagine I would be if I had inflicted (or played a part) in a fellow professional getting hurt like that.

Arsene Wenger went up in my estimation last night when he admitted his first statement was driven by the heat of the moment. It was a clumsy challenge which unfortunately resulted in a horrific break - however I totally agree that anyone who intends to do that to an opponent should not only be banned for life but jailed for GBH as well.

Damn, I don't remember ever feeling this bad for someone. His career just started to blossom at the european stage and the EURO 2008 was going to be his time to shine. Now, all is down the **** bowl. This takes a big part of my excitement for the EURO away. I wish him all the best.
