But look at it this way. Pretend theres an NBA team with a really good league record, is another team sweeps the season series, they played better. But the best team is still the team with the better overall record... Mexico. ;)

That is kindof like saying the Lakers and Celtics are the best team in the NBA right NOW just because they have more championships in the past. Thinks have now changed in the NBA like they have in CONCACAF in my opinion. But I think you proved my point perfectly when you said the team with the best overall record in the LEAGUE (one season) is the better team. But it is also difficult to compare a season at the International level. And I also think US looks mostly at the Bruce Arena era/MLS era. I hate to say the dissapointing league has improved the consistency of US but it has and I think most of the credit goes to Bruce Arena.

pointless friendlies and meaningless cups aside, we've only played each other with our "best squads" 3 times. The record is only 2-1 for u guys. thats not really a total domination.
Just imagine what that sentence would read if it were 2-1 in the other direction!

But anyway...Brighton and Hove selected us as rivals way back when. A very good explanation of the rivalry is here:

And don't let any Charlton fans fool you. There is NO rivalry between Palace and Clowntown. They hate Ron Noades for some reason, and decided they also hate Palace (you could hear them singing 'we beat the scum 1-0' versus Everton, referring to Palace). It's kind of like QPR/Chelsea, or Bournemouth/Southampton, where the smaller club hates the larger club, but the larger club couldn't give a toss!

Why City are so bitter towards United?

When United have a good season
1909 - United win the FA Cup; City are relegated
1963 - United win the FA Cup; City are relegated
1977 - United win the FA Cup; City lose league by a point
1983 - United win the FA Cup; City are relegated
1996 - United win the Double; City are relegated
2001 - United win the League; City are relegated

When City have a good season, United always trump them
1956 - City win the FA Cup; United win the League
1968 - City win the League; United win the European Cup
1985 - City win promotion; United win the FA Cup
1991 - City finish above United; United win Cup-Winners Cup
1999 - City win promotion to 1st Division; United win Treble
2000 - City win promotion to Premiership; United win League

There's no football rivalry between us and France imo.

hm i think when we play football against france there still is that that "erbfeindschafts"-thing, which (luckily) doesn´t influence politics anymore
