I saw the match and it wasn’t particulary interesting. But what else could we expect since we have lots of injuries and the derby in Milano on Wednesday.I think that the Milan match was the reason why some players were at round 80% today (Ronaldinho). He, amongst others, seemed uninterested, too relaxed and easygoing.I was disappointed with the way he took those two free-kicks.They were pathetic for a player of his calibre and he didn’t seem really bothered with the fact that he wasted two perfectly good chances that a great free kick taker such as Gio (as he displayed by hitting the bar) maybe would have scored from. But the team was good overall.Larsson was quiet, Eto’o was very hard-working and it’s good for us that the opposition doesn’t take him seriously. He is very fast and lethal. He’ll be worth every euro that was spent on him.The absence of Ludo was obvious. The right side of the pitch was pretty much owned by Espanyol and a very good Oscar Serrano since tonight wasn’t Belletti’s night, who by the way was hard-working as well but he couldn’t place the final touch to the ball.We need Giuly back as soon as possible.Deco scored our only goal which was lucky because the ball hit some Espanyol player, gained hight and thank God crashed into the net.If it wasn’t for the lucky touch that definitely wouldn’t have been a goal.Deco was very good today. He earned us a few free kicks and you could see that he is giving his 100%.All the people who said he never earned his award as midfielder of the season are wrong.Deco will be of huge significance this season. His input was very important and I can’t see anything that might make me think that Barca made a mistake by signing him. He’s definitely worth those millions and Quaresma.Ronaldinho, as said earlier, was too relaxed for such a game but when he had the ball, those we moments of magic. He would go for like, 5 minutes of invisibility then he’d take the ball and create hell in the Espanyol box, like the time when he put Deco in a 100% chance that Deco failed to score.Plus, I have had this feeling since the Celtic match – Ronaldinho doesn’t get enough of the ball.I was surprised how much the ball went to the right flank when Ronaldinho is on the left.Maybe it’s to make things easier on him and avoid a risk of injury but he should definitely be more involved. He’s too good to have a total of 10 touches with the ball.Xavi was satisfactory as everyone on the team.Marquez had a decent match I might add.He carried out his role very well and had a few moves that only class playmakes would have, such as finding Eto’o totally alone on the opposite side of the pitch.Marquez is class and I’m glad he stayed.Gio was one of the better players. He did his job decently and had a good hit at the bar.Espanyol weren’t able to do much on his side of the field and that shows his significance.Oleguer was unnoticed which is good for a defender because that means nothing serious happened.Oleguer is a player who gives you a sense of stability in the defense.Puyol was world class  and in my opinion the man of the match, with Deco a close second.Puyol is brilliant. His sollutions to certain problems are amazing and he showed why he is the captain. Not a single error in the game.Simply the best.I think he was the reason Espanyol didn’t get too close to Valdes. What a defender.
Valdes was very good because he had a few situations to clear up and he didn’t go wrong although he had a dribbling attempt
and a very risky run out in which he could have easily missed the ball and injure Puyol (remember Marquez last season). But I have never seen a keeper at Barca who didn’t do things like this.I guess it’s just something that goes on in the Club lol.Iniesta was class again. He showed he is the future of Barcelona.Messi wasn’t noticed but he entered to rest Eto’o and Barca were trying to get the game to an end so he didn’t have much of a chance at a goal.
All in all an average match. It’s good to see us win when we didn’t play like we can but I think this attitude that the team showed is key to bringing us to the top.We know how to hadle games like these without too much trouble.Espanyol didn’t deserve to lose by the way they played, but if they had scored that goal when they hit the wood, it would have been unfair because it was a foul on Valdes to begin with.Eto’o also failed to capitalise on a great chance when he somehow managed to send the ball over the ball when the keeper was already beaten. So the result seems fair when it comes to chances.I’ve also noticed that we are having problems with the last touch.Everyone does everything the way they are supposed to and then, when the final assist is to be made, someone screws up.It’s like we panic at a great opportunity and it screws us up.
It’s a shame that those errors happen at the end of a team move that is usually great.
The bench seemed weird today.Out of all players I could only recognise Iniesta and Messi.
I hope we get our injured ones back because we need them badly.A draw at S.Siro would be good considering the situation at the bench. And we must improve on our game today if we want anything near the three pts against Osasuna.
