Probably Márquez would have stopped one of those counter-attacks.. but that doesn't matter now. Thinking of the future, Barça have La Liga easier now since they'll go 100% for it.

To be honest, I don't think we had enough players to play in two different competitions until the end. Basically the same 11 players have playing all the games this season.

We need some good backups for next season, and a good DC and winger.

We need player like him in the defensive midfield spot. He wasn't supposed to play in that possition but he had to due to other players injuries.

Marquez was supposed to play as DC and Edmilson or Motta as the DM.

Gerard .... pfff. I prefer to shut up.

ofcourse I know what postion Marquez play he came out of Atlas my team youth system. :mrpimp:

he did play some games for Monaco in that position, and for Mexico too.

It probably had to be because he was frustrated with how things turned out. I didn't watch the match so I can't really say but that would be my guess.

Well i probably know what Dinho was angry about, i would've been the same to, probably at the defense, our defenders were absolute :sb9: in the first 30 minutes, we were being torn to pieces, for me i think it's time for Victor to go, never liked his haircut, i just don't like Valdes at all, i hope Barca gets Niemi one day. :)

Dude, you mustve had a big crisis of loyalties during that one! :gavin:

From the few seconds the game showed of the fracas on the sidelines, Ronaldinho looked like he was being held back by some stewards, while pushing another, and then, he turns around and pushes the guy that was holding him back. It was really confusing
There had to have been some motivation by someone, Dinho and Rijkaard are not sure twarts that they would start a fight cause they didnt like the result. If it was in response to the supposed comment made to Eto'o, thats fine, but that has not been confirmed nor denied, and if it happened, then i can only hope they send that racist tosser out and ban him for life.

AFAIK Rijkaard was mad because someone from the Chelsea bench insulted Ten Cate and Rijkaard at the end of the match. They played dirty until the end.

Hmmmmzer....very similar to Sol's goal against Portugal last summer, no?

Anyway, I know there really won't be much consolation in me saying this, but your attack was spectacular and stunning. Too bad the defence and FR's tactics and strategy ruined it all. This fixture could've been over with in the first leg if only you guys had a pitbull of a DM infront of the back four and maybe and out-an-out winger on either side of the flanks. Chelsea were just smart in their gameplan and relentless in the first half an hour or so of the game. The pitch was very fast and wet, the lineup of Chelsea was also fairly fast, technically sound, committed to the long ball, and determinant and dogged in the middle. Makelele really made the difference. If only Gerard was 1/10 as influential as him, man.

P.S, Ronnie's goal.....:o :o :o One of the best goals I've ever seen, man. Man was that goal sweet. It epitomized everything technical and flair-filled about soccer. If you slow-mo that goal, you can see him calculating with his foot and gauging his aim of the shot. The man is like a Physicist out there on the pitch. I tried to do that this morning in an indoor gym and unfortunately scuffed the artificial turf really hard with the inside of my left foot. And he did this against Cech of all people......boy was it special.

Game stats

Barca dominated the game at Stamford Bridge, but were just missing that little bit of luck that's needed at times. Looking at the stats of the game though, it's clear who was in charge.

Chelsea won because they took their chances, but the headers from Ronaldinho and Puyol's, Eto'os efforts, Iniesta's shot against the bar and Deco's long range free kick all came close to getting the goal Barca needed to reach the quarter final.

Below we recount the most interesting and important stats from the game.

- Frank Rijkaard put out a starting 11 with six home grown players
- Valdés, Puyol, Oleguer, Iniesta, Gerard and Xavi.
- Barca had 58% possession during the game, 70% in the first half.
- Deco, Barca's main attacking midfielder was the player who suffered most fouls in the game , six. - Barca had more shots on goal 15 to Chelsea's 13.
- Barca also had more corners seven to Chelsea's two.
- Chelsea committed 28 fouls, whilst Barca only gave away 13. There were three yellows for Chelsea and two for Barca (Xavi and 'Gio').
- Ronaldinho and Eto'o finished the competition as Barca's leading scorers, with four apiece, whilst Deco scored twice and Larsson, Giuly and Maxi each got a goal apiece.
- Barca played eight games in the UCL, recording four wins, one draw and three defeats all away from home (Milán, Dontesk and London), scoring 12 and conceding 11 goals.

In all Barca played eight games in the UCL:

Celtic FCB (1-3)
FCB Shakthar (3-0)
AC Milan FCB (2-1)
FCB AC Milan (2-1)
FCB Celtic (1-1)
Shakthar FCB (2-0)
FCB Chelsea (2-1)
Chelsea FCB (4-2)

Chelsea disgusts me.

Especially Lampard.

They played the dirtiest they could. From not cutting the grass to calling Pichichi a monkey.
It's a shame we had to be eliminated against a team we outclassed in both games.

I was disappointed with Valdes, Oleguer, Gio, Deco and Eto'o.
But in the end, we played better football.

And it's funny how Mourinho forgets everything and is full of praise for Barca as soon as he's through. POS.

The draw sucked.

FORCA BARCA!

Valdés didn't save us this time, that's true, but IMO he wasn't the guilty of any of the 5 goals that Chelsea scored in the 2 matches. We can't expect that he saves us always, the defense has to do their work.

I would send Gio to the bench for the rest of season though.
