Boy oh boy, that would be one hell of a punishment. IF it ends up being more than a rumour:

The World Motor Sport Council has decided McLaren Formula One Team will be excluded from the 2007 constructors' championship. The team's drivers will be able to continue their battle for the drivers' championship though. The team was furthermore fined for 100 million US dollar.

Earlier reports from the hearing in Paris said that the team might even be excluded from the 2007 championship, but the final decision made by the World Motor Sport Council said the team will no longer receiver any points for the constructors' championship. The team will furthermore receive an extraordinary of 100 million US dollar.

More information will follow later this evening.

heh, dipanjan i suppose you havent heard of industrial spying. Merc got away fine with it they got money. Imo they are lucky they didnt get excluded from 2008 as well.

Anyway, a decent punishment was needed. So to make others more affraid of doing the same in the future. And Im pretty sure almost every single team in F1 are doing the same thing. Mercedes just got caught first.

Great race at Japan, I'm quite glad I didn't sleep through it in the first laps with the safety car... Shame about Vettel, he really deserved to get a podium, or at least points for his race... schoolboy mistake, yes, but he's still very young...

Ferrari's multiple mistakes couldn't stop Kimi, and what a fight between Massa and Kubica at the end! Couldn't ask for more than this in a race. And it lasted 2 hours as well!

According to reports, Hamilton is under investigation for "brake testing" the field in Japan whilst under the safety car - he could be stripped of his victory if found guilty.

I'm sure the majority of us (except Brits) wanted Hamilton to be punished. Would make an interesting race if he was.

yep. I dislike Hamilton, more than I do Alonso. 1 reason is that he's Rons sweet little boy. 2nd is the way he's handled the whole Alonso situation.

Well yeah it would, but we haven't had a British F1 Champion for over ten years so I think we're due! :)

Also it'd be nice if Hamilton can win this weekend and put the seal on it properly too.

10 years, huh? Wow, such an era. Looking at it that way of course there's plenty of other countries that would be a lot more due.

True, but Britain has a huge motor racing history - but then I guess Italy has been waiting more than we have, and they've got the greatest Motor racing history of all.

Tell you the truth, at the season start - I was hoping Massa would win the Championship because of Ayrton. I think it'd be nice for Brazil - Senna's loss had a huge impact there. They had three days of National Mourning when he died.

My memory is failing - who was the last Italian F1 World Champion?
