Williams were also trying to get Fisichella, but he prefers a ride in Renault, where it's rumored one of Alonso or Trulli (Likely to be Trulli) will be sacked this season.

Trulli has already been sacked and Fisichella has been confirmed as his replacement for the next season. Renault announced this yesterday.

Good move for Webber. Not a huge surprise really.

So who is Webber's teammate gonna be ? Trulli ?

Pizzonia, Heidfeld, and Anthony Davidson are still in the running. Gary Paffett could be an option as well, although Frank Williams and Patrick Head always remind people they don't sign unexperienced (in F1) drivers.

I think Heidfeld's situation gets complicated because of his Mercedes sponsorship... so his sponsors won't be too pleased if he drives a BMW.

I don't see Pizzonia getting the drive ... he seems like he will be a test driver ...nothing more.

I think we are going to see some new faces (in the lower teams at least)

Why is it every year, Jaguar seem more screwed up then the year before? :crazyboy:

I wouldn't be surprised to see Pedro De La Rosa or Alex Wurz take the spare Williams' seat.

Woups, ruud got what i sed wrong it seems :P
since webber signed for a williams seat next year first, the guy who they are going to sign 2nd is going to be their 2nd driver for 2005. My comment had nothing to do with the way the team sees their drivers (also they want to say they have equal drivers but I remember Hill in 96 being #1 :brow: )

Williams hardly treat both drivers equal ... everyone criticizes Ferrari for giving more importance to Schumacher but that happens at most teams.

Williams clearly favor Montoya over Ralf ... and now they are both leaving.

as for the Webber issue, he wasn't William's first choice - Fisichella was ...but Briatore wanted Fisichella and pressured Williams into getting Webber.

Ralf Schumacher and Webber would have made a good team but (:/)

anyway, its going to be interesting to see what happens at the end of all these F1 Musical chairs. Im hoping to see new faces and i want to the likes of Da Matta to quit F1.

Webber wants 'no danger' team-mate - Walker
Number one status preferably...

Mark Webber needs a team-mate who is 'not quite good enough,' according to the former voice of Formula One motor racing, retired Briton Murray Walker.

The Aussie, Webber, has always blown-away the occupant of his sister Grand Prix racer but at BMW Williams the selection is even more crucial, Walker claimed.

Walker, currently 'down under,' reckons Webber's ideal team-mate is someone "to beat. So he'll want something like the relationship in the Ferrari team."

There, said Murray, Michael Schumacher is 'head and shoulders' above Rubens Barrichello, who is a 'capable driver' but 'no real danger' to his team-mate.

Nick Heidfeld is perhaps top of the list for the second Grove-based seat in '05, although David Coulthard and Toyota-courted Jarno Trulli are also contenders.

haha pussy ! Too bad Webber would get beat by Barrichello if he was his teammate.

I agree. I think he is a steady driver capable of an occasional win like Coulthard... but nothing more.

I dont agree with all these comments that webber is just an average driver, but anyway. We'll just have to wait 'n see what he does on-track. Also from what I keep reading the last 2 days, williams were actualy trying to get Fisi intead, but since flavio lost Trulli he wanted to get, no matter what, Fisi to Renault.

no way man. Ralf has been treated like crap over the last few months.

nah, they both got the same treatment. Just monoya was searching for an excuse to leave Williams last year and started saying that Williams favor RS after the 2003 French GP strategy
