that looked fantastic! definitely what they should have worn in every away match, instead of those navy blue shorts ... but they only wore that combination for that one match against Roma (shame the result sucked) ... I really wanted a pair of those shorts back then, and I still haven't been able to find one to buy to this day

and I think that I have said it before as well. I don't know which season (or game) it was, but we played with a blue top and red shorts and socks (same as in this pic but just the top was plain blue). Those were awesome kits (from the perspective of design I know, coz we were having our worsts years at that time).
same season, away against Gala:
this was another amazing colour combination, and again it was a one-off occasion where we saw that ... we should definitely have something like that as a European kit every season (or at least every so often) ...
the Gamper Trophy shirt was of course very similar ... I was really unhappy that the result didn't go according to plan, because that shirt is now part of a memory of a match that ended in defeat, and it's potential use again will most likely not occur ... I mean, they tried to sell only a limited edition of them, and they would have sold out quickly if we had won that match and celebrated that night ... but those limited stock of shirts are STILL available because that result made this shirt part of forgettable night, which means no one wants to buy a shirt that reminds them of it ...
I'm not superstitious, but sadly others are ... I still want / would love to see the blue shirt + red short + gold trim combo return for European competitions ...

And yeah, Kluivert, my first idol.
yup, he was my first favourite player since the 1994/95 season -- well, I confirmed my choice after that goal of his in May in Vienna ...
