Funnily enough the 07/08 home kit is perhaps my favorite ever. And a gold or silver away kit sounds nice, we had that a few years back, and it was one of my favorites too, I think that was when Jari played for us.
Jari! I love that guy ... real shame it didn't work for him at Barça like it did at Ajax ...

Oh, I would die for a gold or grey/silver kit. :D

My fav one is the one we are wearing this year

I would like something with a lot of strips (similar to the one we have had this year)

or why not just keep this one? (I know they won't; but they should!)

bybuti;2853176 said:
And why not with red shorts? :D

that looked fantastic! definitely what they should have worn in every away match, instead of those navy blue shorts ... but they only wore that combination for that one match against Roma (shame the result sucked) ... I really wanted a pair of those shorts back then, and I still haven't been able to find one to buy to this day :(

and I think that I have said it before as well. I don't know which season (or game) it was, but we played with a blue top and red shorts and socks (same as in this pic but just the top was plain blue). Those were awesome kits (from the perspective of design I know, coz we were having our worsts years at that time).
same season, away against Gala:

this was another amazing colour combination, and again it was a one-off occasion where we saw that ... we should definitely have something like that as a European kit every season (or at least every so often) ...

the Gamper Trophy shirt was of course very similar ... I was really unhappy that the result didn't go according to plan, because that shirt is now part of a memory of a match that ended in defeat, and it's potential use again will most likely not occur ... I mean, they tried to sell only a limited edition of them, and they would have sold out quickly if we had won that match and celebrated that night ... but those limited stock of shirts are STILL available because that result made this shirt part of forgettable night, which means no one wants to buy a shirt that reminds them of it ...

I'm not superstitious, but sadly others are ... I still want / would love to see the blue shirt + red short + gold trim combo return for European competitions ...

And yeah, Kluivert, my first idol.
yup, he was my first favourite player since the 1994/95 season -- well, I confirmed my choice after that goal of his in May in Vienna ...

Brazilian footballing royalty Pele has downplayed the ability of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi by declaring that the Barcelona man has to “score 1000 goals” like he did until we can really start talking about his pedigree.

Reigning Ballon d’Or winner and World Footballer of the Year Messi has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 40 goals in 44 club games, and his four-goal haul against Arsenal in the Champions League last week has led some to compare the attacker with the likes of Diego Maradona and Pele.

But, the Brazilian has doubts over Messi’s ability and potential, and believes any comparisons should be put on hold until he scores 1000 goals in his career as he did during the 1950s, 60s and 70s.

"They are always trying to compare someone to Pele," he said to The Daily Mail.

"I always joke with my Argentine friends that they must first choose who is the best player from Argentina.

"Then, when one of them scores a thousand goals, then we can start talking.

“Messi’s a great player. He plays very well for Barcelona, but has failed to show his talent with the Argentina team.

“Maybe he can at the World Cup. Let's wait and see.''

Hmm only Pele could say that. A fair comment. What do you guys think?

The "lets wait till he scores 1000 before we compare him to me" comment was a bit stupid. One doesn't have to score 1000 to become the best. But one thing is for sure. He won't ever be compared to Maradonna or Pele until he's done something for Argentina. He has a decade at least to do that. The likes of Pele, Maradonna or fatRonaldo were already carrying their NT forward at the age of 17-20 years of age.

I feel the same way. Until he wins for Argentina, he can't be compared to the legends. Same thing goes for CR9.

That 1000 goals comment is ridiculous. Nobody will score that many goals in modern football, and Pele wouldn't either. I bet the comments would differ a lot were Leo Brazilian.

Messi will score +1000 goals.

Maradona didn't shine in his NT until Mexico 86. At Messi age were sent off against Brazil and his nation flop in Spain 82.

Espanyol is the nastiest team in the whole world, they play so dirty at least against Barca. Well, most of their supporters are Spanish and they're Real B team, so we shouldn't expect anything else.

I hope Valencia earn some points tomorrow.

Twice I saw coins being thrown at Barca players. First was Leo, it barely missed him, and he just looked down at the coin that dropped in his feet. Second was at Xavi when he was giving a corne, he didn't notice it. I understand the whistling and even shouting (although not racist or really personal insults), but that's just the most pathetic, coward thing to do.

btw, the team was planned to travel to Milano today, but suddenly all Catalan Airports has been closed today. So, it may happen the worst scenario to travel by train (13 hours journey :().

This is a very dangerous period to travel by plane... It's better to travel by train. Depending on when they'll arrive, they could have some time for rest

My alltime favourite Barca kit is the centenery one Nike did. I know it wasn't the traditional stripes - but I thought it looked class. I tried to get one when I went to the Nou Camp in 2006, but they'd sold out. Is there anywhere that still sells them?

I have the thick striped one it replaced with the navy collar. Ironically I bought my first Barca shirt at the Nou Camp in 1994, well a stall in the car park - (which turned out to be a fake) I didn't know too much about football at the time. It was a Koeman 4 shirt, which went down great in Tarragona, but a somewhat different reception in England! Ironically, during the same trip I visited the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona as well - but I didn't even know anyone played there!

(Koeman scored the goal that prevented England from getting to the WC finals)

I had the 2003 home shirt as well, but it got tattered and had to go.

Valencia is absolutely useless... Seems every team motivates only to play against us, and look so sloppy against Madrid.

Looks like its gonna come down to the sevilla game, which is not looking good for us. Can we ever deliver against Espanyol when we need to? They did this to us in 2007 after messi score hat-trick.

I'd say looking at the fixtures, it's looking like good chance of 2007 happening to us again. I'm dissapointed with pep's starting 11 yesterday, I thought he should have had Bojan start, and bring on Ibrahimovic much sooner. I guess he was thinking of the Inter game tho.

BTW, I still have hope, gonna pray valencia can give us a hand in the end. But they look like they're gonna give Real Madrid the victory they needed.

EDIT:

2-0

Useless, completely uselsess...

What's going on with Iniesta? Is he hurt?

I was thinking about all of Spain's injuries ahead of the WC...Cesc is questionable, Torres is now questionable, and I got to thinking about Iniesta. Surprisingly, ESPN doesn't even have him as being listed in the Spain squad. I know that doesn't really mean anything, just got me wondering about him.

Iniesta will be out for a month.

He should be ready for the WC though.

Ah, thanks for the info. That is good to hear, it would be a shame to see any of the world's best players miss the Cup through injury.
