The Zlatan vs. David Villa issue
so, it seems most of you prefer David Villa over Zlatan, though you have all mentioned that Zlatan is talented, but Villa is better ... not unexpected ... David Villa is supposedly a better striker, though I just can't see how that is the case, statistically or talentwise ... if you're just going on what you read in the papers or because you're supporting the decisions Barcelona seem to be making, then there is no point in me even trying to discuss the issue with you ...
as for Zlatan's interest / lack thereof: well, he carries his Inter side, so I can completely understand when he just loses interest in his teammates when they are just not good enough ... Barcelona is a serious team, and he is serious about winning the Champions League ... plus, because of his time at Ajax, Zlatan knows the Barcelona system inside-out -- in case you guys don't know, the Barcelona system is based on the Ajax system, because Rinus Michels and his star player Johan Cruyff are the ones who brought it over from Ajax ... I just don't see how David Villa fits the system better ...
again, if you're going on what the players are saying, then there is no room for discussion ... people like Xavi and Piqué are saying they'd sign David Villa because he is their compatriot and teammate -- you always want to see your friends join your club ... does not mean he is the best option ...
if Eto'o stays, and nothing changes, then this Barcelona side will remain a force to be reckoned with ... if David Villa joins, and Eto'o leaves, it will be a damn shame, but I'm sure the team will still do well ... if Zlatan joins, then this team can access a whole new level because they would have not just a striker to pop in the goals, but a visionary unlike any other on the planet ... watching him and Iniesta combine will be a feast for the eyes ...
the whole "we don't buy Balon d'Ors, we make them" is total bullsh!t ... in the Laporta era, Ronnie was the first -- and so far only -- Balon d'Or winner ... was he bought? yes ... Messi will win this year, and that will make the accolade 50% bought, and 50% "made" through the youth ranks ...
I'm not saying that if the clubs' places were exchanged, that your President wouldn't be taking cheap shots at Barcelona -- let's face it, he would -- but if Laporta descends to the same antics, then what makes him any better a person?
last summer, Laporta was facing impeachment, and he just about survived a vote of no confidence ... now, suddenly, those memories no longer exist because the team has done a historic treble ... fans are very fickle, and there is no point engaging in discussion with the fickle ones on subject matters that they have voluntarily put out of their minds ...

About Laporta well to me is he like Calderon (they must be buddies, same profession and all), the man is a tit and it's funny how quickly he got out of last summer LOL. I remember reading that back in the 90s when he was going against some president he said that if he ever got over a 30 percent or something like that dissaproval rating than he would retire himself. LOL

@ Arnau: I already knew Bogarde was retired. Just thought I let you have a laugh or two. I've been following Keirrison since 2006 while he was with Coritiba and he shows great potential. Hopefully he can develop faster than Higuain. I really like his ambition. As for the Essien rumors, he's actually leaning towards listening to Barca.

Hmm just throwing this out there but I know it won't happen anytime soon. What about Oguchi? He's a beast of a defender at 6'5". Been in excellent form for the last two seasons at Standard, helping them go on a 29 unbeaten match streak and win back-to-back Belgian league titles. I'd say he has fully bounced back from his disaster spell at Newcastle United.
