It can be argued that Pep is not necessarily a world class manager because he might not have the same success at another team (unproven). However, his performance at Barcelona has been nothing short of world class. A team of players, no matter how good, does not perform this well on their own. Pep has kept the team at peak performance for two and a half seasons now and I can only think of one match where he has been outcoached (first leg of the CL semifinals against Inter). He also deserves a lot of credit for keeping his players focused and disciplined in the face of a Madrid-dominated media that is constantly trying to destabilize the team. What more can you ask of the guy, at least at Barcelona?Nady;2976439 said:Barca is not overrated at all. Their manager is though.
I'm not Pep's biggest fan, but I think he's the perfect man for the Barcelona post ... I'll just quote what I said a while back about Pep, coz I still feel the same way:Sevillista;2976469 said:It can be argued that Pep is not necessarily a world class manager because he might not have the same success at another team (unproven). Xifio said:I have always talked about how much Pep still has to learn ... but that doesn't mean that I don't think he is without doubt the best manager for Barcelona ... the man has come through the cantera, captained the team, but most important of all, he learnt the Barcelona total football philosophy from Cruyff himself! there is no substitute for all that, and that is why he is so ideal for the job ...

what would you prefer them to say? "the league is done ... let's all give up and go on holiday now"?Sevillista;2978528 said:Whoa, seven point lead now. Real Madrid shouldn't feel too bad, this Barcelona is impossible to keep pace with.
Cue Real Madrid players and personnel telling the media that the league is not out of reach.

No, I understand why the players say it, but it's always the news story the next few days after Madrid loses ground, to rally the troops. Very predictable.Xifio;2978540 said:what would you prefer them to say? "the league is done ... let's all give up and go on holiday now"?
Touché. I don't know if that was outchoaching though, they pretty much put up a 10-man defense.ShiftyPowers;2978594 said:Missed this. Just to nitpick he's been out coached by the Rubin Kazan manager a few times as well.

Parking the bus, and it doesn't take a good coach to do that.Mandieta6;2978696 said:What would you call it then?
