I think the point is that Lamps and Gerrard have won the CL too. Yeah yeah. Xabi and Schweinsteiger can theoretically work together, but I'm really down on Alonso right now and so is FCB blog Bavarian Football Works. His lack of mobility is a real problem on defense for a team that presses so aggressively. The fucker is giving the ball away a lot too IMO.

But they don't have the classic problem of Lampard and Gerrard (no one stays back); Schweinsteiger has some of that in him, but Alonso is arguably the best holding midfielder since Vieira.

Pep has said Xabi is the worst midfielder in the world "defensively", as in chasing and recovering the ball and stuff. He's got a point. I mean, certainly a "first world problem" in the sense that he's not LITERALLY the worst in the world, but he's got a point.
