They were probably promoted successively because Italy is corrupt as hell in soccer and other aspects. Leeds is the equivalent in England and they aren't exactly bouncing back right away.
so Leeds not bouncing back but Fiorentina doing so (and being able to assemble a talented squad) is because of corruption? ok ... too many hypotheticals to construct a legitimate argument on that front ...

Lots of goals doesn't mean the quality of play is good, but I'm assuming that you watch most of the games on television. Most television stations don't have long camera angles where you can enjoy the brilliant off ball movement of Pandev when Maicon is storming up the pitch.
...
in person you can correct for this, but when the camera follows the ball it is extremely hard to do.
uh, actually, you can see the pitch quite well ... especially on the wider-angle HD coverage ... not like being at the stadium, but it is good ... and the camera follows the ball, but you're not zoomed in so you can't see the various runs ... if anything, the TV directors have recognized the need to see those various runs that comprise "beautifully-constructed" team goals ...

And even more to the point, even Johan Cruyff's eyes are attracted to the ball and not the off-ball movement
hahah what bilge, Danny boy ... you know that for a fact, do you?

If you want to take the purist's side and argue against traditional excitement, fine, go right ahead, but you can't do that if you're watching on television, because you can't see nearly everything that's happening. If you have season tickets for Roma, please accept my apology.
there are no standard definitions for "purist" and "traditional excitement" as far as I am concerned (no matter if others think so) ... apparently drinking oneself silly is "traditionally exciting" esp. for college students, but escaping from reality has never appealed to me ... I don't like physical football ... I don't need constant counterattacking to appreciate watching a match ... I can appreciate those sides of the game, but it is not my priority ... I like to watch the tactical side of things ... and I like to see flair players ...

Give me a ******* break, I don't watch Juventus games these days. I remember watching Champions League games back when they had Zidane and Davids, and the stadium was always empty.
I'm not saying Juve don't have poor attendance, but I just think you've picked a very bad example to make your point about attendance in Italy ... Juve is renovating its stadium because the Delle Alpi was terrible for the fans ... the new stadium literally fits inside the old one -- that's how detached the fans were from the action ... so even in the days of Zidane, fans would only pack the stands for occasions such as the semifinals of the Champions League ... the San Siro, on the other hand, does not have that problem, but isn't always packed to the rafters ...
attendance is a big problem in Italy ... but again, the clubs have long recognized this, and have already started the process to build stadia of their own, purpose-built for football ... Germany have got the inside track on that front, and good for them ... won't put me off watching calcio ...
